Match the Part Number: The Best Grill Drip Pans

The best grill drip pans by grill type: Weber, Traeger, Pit Boss, kamado and Char-Broil, with what each one fits and what it won't.

Sausages in a foil tray on a grill over a charcoal fire
Sausages in a foil tray set on a grill over a charcoal fire.

A grill drip pan is a small thing that gets ignored until the bottom of the grill turns into a mess. The word also covers several different parts: a foil liner, a metal catch pan, a tall smoker liner, a bucket, and a steel pan that sits inside a kamado.

So this guide is sorted by the grill you own. Fit matters more than anything else with these, and each pick below says what it fits and what it doesn’t. Grease is also a fire question, which is why we think a clean pan is worth a little bother.

Quick verdict: which drip pan to buy

Buy your grill maker’s own part if it is in stock, such as the Weber Aluminum Drip Pans or the Traeger Size C liners. If you own a Spirit or Q, the Firsgrill 6415-size pack is a clear third-party match. For a kamado, the reusable SmokeWare stainless pan is the one to look at.

Our picks for the best grill drip pans

These are ordered by how much of the fit question the maker answers for you, so grill makers’ own parts come early. Two are third-party brands, and we say so in each. Each pick rests on its listing and its maker’s details, and no independent review is cited here.

1. Weber Aluminum Drip Pans, 10-Pack – Weber’s Own Disposable Pans

Best overallWeber® Aluminum Drip Pans

The first thing to know about a drip pan is that fit comes before everything else, and a pan made by the company that built your grill removes most of the guessing. Weber lists this 10-pack, model 6498, for SmokeFire, Summit 400 and 600 Series, Summit Gold 6-burner, Summit Platinum and Genesis II 400 and 600 grills. That is a specific list, and it doesn’t include the smaller Spirit and Q grills, so read it before you click.

These are thin aluminum pans you use and throw away. Weber calls the aluminum recyclable and also suggests the pans for roasts, turkeys and gravy drippings. That second use matters if you cook indirect, because a foil pan under a roast catches fat you may want for a sauce.

Weber’s listing doesn’t give the pan size, so we mark it not stated. It rests on the listing, and it was sold by Amazon when we checked.

Why we like it

  • Made by Weber for named grills
  • Ten pans in a pack
  • Weber also suggests them for roasts and turkeys
  • Recyclable aluminum, per the listing

Key specifications

Type Disposable foil pan
Count 10
Material Aluminum
Size Not stated
Fits SmokeFire, Summit 400/600, Summit Gold 6-burner, Summit Platinum, Genesis II 400/600
Reuse Disposable
Grill maker’s own part Yes

Why we recommend it

It suits an owner of one of the larger Weber grills on its list who wants the maker’s own part and doesn’t want to measure anything.

Skip it if you own a Spirit or Q. Those aren’t on this list, and the Firsgrill pans below are sold for them.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Fit list comes from Weber
  • Handy under a roast as well
  • Simple swap and toss

Cons

  • Only suits the listed grills
  • Size isn’t stated
  • Thrown away after use

2. Weber Catch Pan and Wire Holder – A Metal Pan for Older Grills

Best reusable Weber partWeber® Catch Pan and Wire Holder for indirect cooking

This is the part a lot of owners are really looking for when they search for a drip pan: the catch pan that hangs under the grease tray, and the wire that holds it. Weber calls it a genuine replacement part and gives a long fit note. It fits Spirit grills except side-mount control models after 2008 and front-mounted control models, Genesis 1000-5500 and Genesis Silver, Gold and Platinum, Platinum I and II, and Summit except Gold and Platinum 6-burner.

Those exceptions are the reason to check your grill before you buy. A newer grill may use a different catch pan altogether. The part measures about 9.1 by 7.3 by 3 inches out of the carton and weighs 1.3 pounds, per the listing. Weber’s title also mentions indirect cooking, though the listing gives no directions for that use.

Weber’s own grill care article tells owners to empty the catch pan and toss the aluminum liner, then replace it. That is a good routine for this kind of part, though the article isn’t about this exact model. The listing doesn’t name the metal, so we say so.

Why we like it

  • Genuine Weber part, per the listing
  • Comes with the wire holder
  • Long, plain list of what fits
  • Not a throwaway foil pan

Key specifications

Model Not stated
Type Catch pan and wire holder
Count 1 set
Material Metal, type not stated
Size About 9.1 x 7.3 x 3 inches
Fits Older Spirit, Genesis and Summit, with exceptions in the listing
Reuse Reusable (our reading of the part)
Grill maker’s own part Yes

Why we recommend it

It suits an owner of an older Weber gas grill who has lost or rusted out the original catch pan and wants the matching part.

Skip it if you bought your grill recently. Check the part number in your manual first, because this list stops short of many newer models.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Replaces the original part
  • Fit note is detailed
  • Includes the holder

Cons

  • Doesn’t fit newer front-control grills
  • Material isn’t stated
  • Won’t suit any other grill brand

3. Firsgrill Drip Pans for Weber 6415, 20-Pack – For the Common 8.5-Inch Size

Best for Spirit and QFirsgrill 20-Pack Professional replacement for Weber 6415 8.5"X6"Gas Grill Drip Pans Catch Grease Liners

Weber’s 6415 size, about 8.5 by 6 inches, is the one that many smaller Weber gas grills take, and third-party brands sell a lot of them. Firsgrill is one of those brands, an Amazon-first name and not Weber, but the listing is clear about what it matches. It says it replaces Weber 6415 and fits Q, Spirit and Genesis gas grills and Genesis II and Genesis II LX 200 and 300 series, except Summit 6-burner grills. Each pan is listed at 8.5 by 6 by 1.3 inches.

A word on the wording. The listing says the aluminum is food grade with FDA certification and also uses the phrase Weber quality. We couldn’t confirm either from a source other than the seller, so we don’t lean on them. You are buying a shallow foil pan of a stated size, and that is all it needs to be.

We looked for Weber’s own 6415 pack, and it didn’t show up as a plain in-stock listing in our searches. If you find it, it is the safer buy. The seller of this listing was Grillpart when we checked.

Why we like it

  • Stated size matches Weber 6415
  • Twenty pans in the pack
  • Clear list of grills, plus an exception
  • Depth stated at 1.3 inches

Key specifications

Model WB20 (part number)
Type Disposable foil pan

Size 8.5 x 6 x 1.3 inches
Fits Weber Q, Spirit, Genesis, Genesis II 200/300, per the seller
Reuse Listing suggests some reuse; we’d toss them
Grill maker’s own part No

Why we recommend it

It suits an owner of a Spirit, Q or smaller Genesis who goes through liners often and is fine with a third-party pan.

Skip it if you want a part from the grill’s own maker. This isn’t one, and Firsgrill’s quality statements are the seller’s own.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Common size in a large pack
  • All key sizes stated
  • Fit list is specific

Cons

  • Not made by Weber
  • Amazon-first brand
  • Certification claim not confirmed

4. Traeger Drip Tray Liners Size C, 5-Pack – Made for Larger Traeger Grills

Best for TraegerTraeger Drip Tray Liners Size C

Pellet grills have a full-width drip tray that catches everything falling from the grate, and a liner saves you from scraping it. Traeger sizes its liners by letter, and this one is size C. It lists the Woodridge Pro, Woodridge Elite, Pro 34, Pro 780, Century 885, Texas Elite 34, Renegade, Timberline 1300 and Ridgeline XL.

One line on the listing deserves a close read. Traeger says that using foil or alternate liners is not advised. Plenty of cheaper third-party liners exist for these grills, and some will fit well enough. But if you want to follow the maker’s guidance, this is the pack to buy.

Size C doesn’t cover every Traeger. The Pro 575 and Pro 22 aren’t on this list, so check your model against it. We saw third-party liners sold for those two, but we didn’t pick one. The dimensions aren’t stated on this listing. It rests on Traeger’s own details, and it was sold by Amazon when we checked.

Why we like it

  • Traeger’s own part, with a named list of grills
  • Follows Traeger’s advice on liners
  • Light, heat-resistant aluminum, per the listing
  • Simple to swap

Key specifications

Why we recommend it

It suits a Traeger owner whose grill is on the list and who wants to stay with what Traeger advises.

Skip it if you own a Pro 575 or Pro 22. They aren’t on this list, so this size isn’t for them.

Pros and cons

  • Maker’s own size system
  • Clear grill list
  • Follows maker’s advice

Cons

  • Only five in a pack

5. Pit Boss Vertical Smoker Foil Grease Pan Liners, 6-Pack – For Tall Cabinet Smokers

Best for vertical smokersPit Boss Vertical Smoker Disposable Foil Grease Pan Liners

A vertical smoker drips differently from a grill, since the fat from every rack ends up in one pan at the bottom of a tall cabinet. Pit Boss makes these foil liners to sit in that grease pan. It lists its 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 Series vertical smokers made before 2025, and the model-year limit is worth checking.

The listing gives a measurement of 7.64 by 4.41 by 19.87 inches. Those numbers don’t explain themselves, and the listing doesn’t say what the longest figure refers to, so measure your own pan if you are unsure. The liners are 100 percent aluminum foil, and the pack holds six.

These are for that one type of smoker, and they aren’t general drip pans. If you have a pellet grill from Pit Boss rather than a vertical cabinet, look for the liner sold for it. This rests on the listing, and it was sold by Amazon when we checked.

Why we like it

  • Made by Pit Boss for its own smokers
  • States series and year limit
  • All aluminum foil, per the listing

Key specifications

Model Not stated
Type Disposable pan liner
Count 6
Material Aluminum foil
Size 7.64 x 4.41 x 19.87 inches, as listed
Fits Pit Boss 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 Series verticals made before 2025
Reuse Disposable
Grill maker’s own part Yes

Why we recommend it

It suits anyone with an older Pit Boss vertical smoker who is tired of scrubbing the grease pan.

Skip it if your smoker is a 2025 or newer model. The listing’s fit stops before that.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Maker’s own part
  • Saves scrubbing
  • Series listed plainly

Cons

  • Vertical smokers only
  • Listed size is confusing
  • Year limit

6. Oklahoma Joe’s 2-Quart Drip Bucket – A Painted Metal Bucket

Best drip bucketOklahoma Joe's Drip Bucket

Some smokers drain grease out through a spout, and what you need there is a bucket and not a flat pan. Oklahoma Joe’s sells this 2-quart metal drip bucket, model 9518545P06, with a weather-resistant painted finish. It measures 6.93 inches wide by 6.75 inches tall, per the listing.

The fit statement here is loose. Oklahoma Joe’s says it works with most smokers and grills, and that is really just a way of saying a bucket will sit under most drains. So look at how your own drain or hanger is arranged. The listing doesn’t state how it attaches, so don’t assume it hooks onto yours.

Oklahoma Joe’s also sells foil liners for its buckets, but the listing we found wasn’t in plain stock, so we can’t recommend them here. Let the grease cool completely before you empty it, in our view. This rests on the listing, and it was sold by Amazon when we checked.

Why we like it

  • Two-quart capacity
  • Metal with a weather-resistant coat
  • From an established smoker maker
  • Washable and reusable, in our view

Key specifications

Model 9518545P06
Type Metal drip bucket
Count 1
Material Painted metal
Size 6.93 in. wide x 6.75 in. tall
Fits “Most smokers and grills”, per the listing
Reuse Reusable
Grill maker’s own part Oklahoma Joe’s part; fit is general

Why we recommend it

It suits anyone with a smoker or barrel grill with a drain, who wants a bucket that can stay outside.

Skip it if your grill has a slide-out tray. A bucket does nothing for you there.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Holds plenty of grease
  • Weather-resistant finish
  • Reusable

Cons

  • Fit is only loosely stated
  • How it attaches isn’t stated
  • Needs cleaning

7. SmokeWare 14-Inch Stainless Steel Drip Pan – Reusable for Kamado Cooks

Best for kamado grillsSMOKEWARE Stainless Steel Drip Pan - Big Green Egg Grilling Accessory

On a kamado the drip pan does a different job. It sits on the heat deflector, or plate setter, and catches fat under a brisket or a turkey while you cook slowly, so it needs to take heat for hours. SmokeWare makes this one in 304-grade stainless steel, and it says it is built to fit Big Green Eggs and sit on the plate setter.

The listing title says 14-inch diameter, and the text says the pan comes in a variety of sizes for MiniMax, Medium and Large eggs. So pick the size that matches your egg. This listing is the 14-inch, and we can’t confirm it fits the smaller models.

SmokeWare says it is reusable and can be scrubbed and machine washed once you remove the fat. It also suggests the pan adds moisture and flavor. We treat that as the maker’s description. It was sold by SmokeWare itself when we checked, and it rests on the maker’s details.

Why we like it

  • 304 stainless steel, per the maker
  • Reusable and machine washable, per the maker
  • Made to sit on a plate setter
  • Sold by the maker when we checked

Key specifications

Model Not stated
Type Round stainless pan
Count 1
Material 304 stainless steel
Size 14-inch diameter
Fits Big Green Egg; check size for your model
Reuse Reusable
Grill maker’s own part No; a kamado accessory maker

Why we recommend it

It suits a kamado owner who cooks low and slow often and would rather wash one pan than keep buying foil.

Skip it if you only cook on a kamado now and then. A foil pan set on the deflector does the same job with no washing.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Built to be reused
  • No foil to throw away
  • Sold by the maker

Cons

  • Sized for one type of grill
  • Needs scrubbing after a long cook
  • Fit on smaller eggs not confirmed

8. Fig & Leaf Drip Pans for Char-Broil, 20-Pack – Spells Out What Won’t Fit

Best for Char-BroilFig & Leaf (20 Pack) Drip Pans Compatible with Char-Broil Grills 9328812P06 Foil Liner l Fits Grease Tray G416-0015-W1 l Disposable Aluminum Foil

Char-Broil’s own disposable pans weren’t in plain stock when we checked, so this third-party pack fills the gap. Fig & Leaf is an Amazon-first brand, and it doesn’t make the grills. What earns it a place is an honest fit statement: it matches Char-Broil 9328812P06 and fits the grease pan G416-0015-W1 on Signature and Commercial Series gas grills with 2, 3 or 4 burners.

It also says what won’t work. The pans don’t fit the Big Easy, griddles, charcoal, electric, portable or hybrid grills, smokers or turkey fryers. Each tray measures 7 by 3.5 by 1.5 inches, and that is narrow, so measure your grease pan first. Twenty come in a pack.

It rests on the seller’s details, and Fig & Leaf itself was the seller when we checked. Its name is not on the grill, so any question about these pans goes to the seller and not to Char-Broil.

Why we like it

  • States the grease pan part number
  • Lists grills it doesn’t fit
  • Twenty in a pack
  • All dimensions given

Key specifications

Model Matches 9328812P06
Type Disposable foil pan
Count 20
Material Aluminum foil
Size 7 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches
Fits Char-Broil Signature and Commercial gas grills, 2 to 4 burners, per the seller
Reuse Disposable
Grill maker’s own part No

Why we recommend it

It suits a Char-Broil gas grill owner whose grease pan matches that part number.

Skip it if your Char-Broil isn’t a Signature or Commercial gas model. The seller rules out many others.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Clear part-number match
  • Clear exclusions
  • Sizes stated

Cons

  • Not made by Char-Broil
  • Amazon-first brand
  • Narrow shape only suits that pan

Drip pan, catch pan or grease tray?

People use these words loosely, and it causes wrong orders. On many gas grills, a slanted grease tray sits under the burners and sends fat to a catch pan at the bottom, and a thin foil liner or drip pan sits inside that catch pan. Weber’s care article describes that routine in order: scrape the grease tray into the catch pan, empty the pan, toss the aluminum liner and put in a new one.

A pellet grill has one wide tray and a bucket. A vertical smoker has a tall pan at the bottom. A kamado has no drain at all, so its pan is something you set on the deflector for each cook. Before you shop, work out which of these you have.

How to choose a drip pan for your grill

Start with your manual’s part number. It is the only sure way to match a pan. Weber’s 6498 and the 6415-size pans in this guide fit different grills, even though both are sold as drip pans.

Measure the pan you have. If you can’t find a number, measure the length, width and depth of the old pan or the space it sits in, and compare it with the listed size. Not every listing gives one.

Choose foil or metal by how often you clean. Foil saves scrubbing but you keep buying it. Metal lasts, but it has to be emptied and washed.

Follow the maker’s advice on third-party parts. Traeger says foil or alternate liners are not advised for its grills, so a cheaper liner goes against that advice. For brands that don’t say either way, a third-party pan is a fair choice if the size is right.

Read the claims on cheap packs closely. Some sellers call disposable pans reusable or add non-stick claims in the same listing. We passed over one pack whose listing said both in a confusing way.

Keeping grease from becoming a fire

The National Fire Protection Association’s grilling safety tips say to keep the grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill. Weber’s care article is blunter, reminding owners that grease is flammable. So a drip pan helps only if you empty it.

A sensible habit, in our view, is to look at the pan before you light the grill. Empty or swap it when it is cool, never while it is hot, and check that it sits where it should. Don’t pour grease in the garden or down a drain.

A foil tray holding cooked food on a pale surface
A foil tray holding cooked food on a pale surface.

How we picked these eight

We have not used these pans. We looked for plain in-stock listings with a new lead offer, stated fit and identifiable makers, and we allowed two Amazon-first brands where a grill maker’s own part was out of plain stock. We read Weber’s care article and the NFPA tip sheet, and took all product details from Amazon listings. We passed over several Char-Broil, Oklahoma Joe’s liner and Cuisinart listings because they were scarce or had long waits. We also searched the saferproducts.gov Recall API by brand. Weber returned two gas grill recalls from 2003 and 2007, and Traeger returned a 2018 pellet grill recall and a 2023 flat top recall. None names these parts. Pit Boss, Oklahoma Joe, SmokeWare, Firsgrill and Fig & Leaf returned none.

Drip pan questions, answered

Do I need a drip pan on my grill?

If your grill has a grease system, a pan or catch pan is part of it, and you shouldn’t run without one, in our view. A foil liner is optional, and it just saves cleaning. On a kamado or kettle, you only need one for indirect cooks.

Can I use foil pans from the grocery store?

For a kettle or kamado, where the pan just sits on the grate or deflector, a grocery store pan of the right size can work, in our view. For a slot in a gas grill, the size has to match. Traeger says foil or alternate liners are not advised for its own grills.

How often should I change a drip pan liner?

None of these listings gives a schedule. Weber’s care article treats it as a job to do before you grill, and we would look each time you light up. Change it when it is getting full.

Are third-party drip pans safe to use?

We can’t speak for every one. They are simple foil pans, but they aren’t made by your grill maker, and the claims on the listing come from the seller. If your maker offers its own, that is the plainer choice.

What goes under a roast on the grill?

A foil pan set under the meat and away from direct flame is the usual setup. Weber suggests its 6498 pans for roasts, turkeys and gravy drippings.

Our last word on catching the drips

Start with your grill’s own part, and buy third-party only when the size matches. While you are cleaning, our grill cleaner guide covers what to use on the cookbox, and the under grill mat guide covers the deck below. If the grates themselves are past saving, go next to our gas grill grates guide.
