Drawer or Carousel? How to Pick the Best K Cup Holder

The best k cup holder depends on your counter and cabinet height. We compare seven drawers and carousels by capacity, size and what fits under a brewer.

Pods tend to take over a coffee corner: a box on the counter, a bag in the drawer, a stray decaf behind the toaster. A holder solves that, but the right one depends on how much counter you have and how far your brewer is from the cabinet above it.

Below are seven holders, from slim drawers to carousels, sorted by the problem each one solves. We say where the evidence is only the listing, and where each falls short.

Quick verdict: which K-Cup holder to buy

Buy the Keurig Slim Non-Rolling Storage Drawer if you own a Keurig and keep a small selection: the maker says it fits under any Keurig, so it uses no extra counter. If you want to see your flavors and can spare a few inches of counter, choose the Keurig Storage Carousel.

Our picks for the best k cup holder

1. Keurig Slim Non-Rolling Storage Drawer, 24 Pods – Made to Sit Under a Keurig

Best overallKeurig Slim Non-Rolling Storage Drawer

For most people with a Keurig, we’d start with the storage from the people who make the brewer. This slim drawer holds up to 24 K-Cup pods and, according to Keurig, fits under any Keurig coffee maker. That means it takes up no additional counter space, since the brewer simply sits on top of it.

The listing gives a size of 9.2 by 3.3 by 12.2 inches and describes a durable metal build. Because it’s narrow, it makes sense with a smaller Keurig, so check your machine’s base against those numbers. It’s a fixed drawer rather than a rolling one, so the brewer stays where you put it.

Keurig also says plainly what doesn’t fit: K-Mug, K-Carafe, Vue and Rivo pods. Keep in mind that a drawer adds a little over three inches to the height of your brewer, so measure the gap under your upper cabinets, especially if you lift the lid to load pods and water.

Why we like it

  • Keurig says it fits under any Keurig coffee maker
  • Takes up no extra counter space
  • Metal construction, per the listing
  • Keurig states which pods won’t fit

Key specifications

Model Slim Non-Rolling
Type Drawer
Pod capacity 24 K-Cup pods
Material Metal
Footprint 9.2 x 12.2 inches
Sits under brewer Yes
Compatibility K-Cup only; not K-Mug, K-Carafe, Vue, Rivo
Warranty Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits a one- or two-person household with a Keurig, a short shelf of favorite pods and not much counter to spare.

Skip it if you keep more than two dozen pods out at a time. The carousels and 36-pod drawers below hold more.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • From the brewer’s own maker
  • Compact footprint
  • Clear statement of what fits

Cons

  • Smallest capacity on this page
  • Adds height under the brewer
  • Won’t take K-Mug or K-Carafe pods

2. Keurig Storage Carousel, 36 Pods – Spins to Any Flavor

Best carouselKeurig Storage Carousel

A carousel suits a kitchen where different people drink different things, because you can see every flavor at a glance and spin to the one you want. Keurig’s own carousel holds up to 36 K-Cup pods and rotates 360 degrees.

It’s metal with a chrome finish and measures 6.5 inches wide and 12 inches tall, so it takes less counter width than a drawer but stands up beside the brewer, where it’s always on show. Keurig describes it as a slim design that complements any of its coffee makers.

The trade-off is that a carousel doesn’t reclaim any counter space the way a drawer does. It adds a new item to the counter instead. On the plus side, it doesn’t raise your brewer, and it leaves room to open the lid under a low cabinet.

Why we like it

  • Holds up to 36 K-Cup pods
  • Rotates 360 degrees
  • A 6.5-inch width, per the listing
  • Doesn’t raise the brewer

Key specifications

Model 121609
Type Carousel
Pod capacity 36 K-Cup pods
Material Metal, chrome finish
Footprint 6.5 inches wide, 12 inches tall
Sits under brewer No
Compatibility K-Cup pods
Warranty Not stated

Why we recommend it

Buy it if you like seeing your choices, have guests or several coffee drinkers at home, and have a few inches of counter beside the brewer.

Skip it if the goal is to hide the pods. They stay in plain view here.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Every flavor is visible
  • Doesn’t add height to the brewer
  • Sold under the brewer maker’s name

Cons

  • Takes its own patch of counter
  • Pods are exposed to kitchen dust and grease
  • No warranty stated

3. Nifty Rolling Coffee Pod Drawer, 36 Pods – Pulls the Brewer Out From Under a Cabinet

Best under a low cabinetNifty Rolling Coffee Pod Drawer – Black Finish

Anyone who has tried to load a Keurig tucked under an upper cabinet will see the point of this one. The Nifty drawer has an integrated rolling system: press the lever, and the drawer and the brewer on top move forward, so you can reach the pod holder or the water tank, then push it back.

It holds up to 36 pods and measures 13.25 inches long, 13 inches wide and 3.5 inches high, with a black powder-coated finish. It’s large enough for a coffee maker to stand on, and Nifty says any brewer can sit on top, though it’s worth checking the weight of a large machine and the size of its feet.

Buyers of Nifty’s non-rolling drawer on Best Buy mostly praise the fit under a Keurig and the solid feel. Several also say that pods in a part-filled drawer can tip on their side and make it hard to close, and that’s likely here as well, since the rows are similar. When we checked, this listing was sold by a third-party seller rather than Amazon, so review the seller’s return terms before you buy.

Why we like it

  • The rolling system moves the brewer forward
  • Holds up to 36 pods
  • A lever releases the drawer
  • Stated size lets you plan the fit

Key specifications

Model 6480
Type Rolling drawer
Pod capacity 36 K-Cup-compatible pods
Material Black powder-coated finish
Footprint 13.25 x 13 inches
Sits under brewer Yes
Compatibility Compatible with K-Cups
Warranty Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits a brewer parked under upper cabinets, where the lid hits the cabinet or the water tank is hard to reach.

Skip it if your brewer already has clearance. The fixed drawers here do the same storage job with fewer moving parts.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Solves the low-cabinet problem
  • Stores a full 36 pods
  • Buyers report solid Nifty drawers

Cons

  • Third-party seller when we checked
  • Part-filled rows can tip, per buyers of the similar drawer
  • Adds 3.5 inches of height

4. Nifty 35-Pod Coffee Carousel – A Lazy Susan Base in Black

Best spinning baseNifty K Cup Holder – Compatible with K-Cups

Nifty’s carousel does much the same job as Keurig’s, in a black powder-coated finish instead of chrome. It holds up to 35 pods compatible with K-Cups on a lazy Susan platform that spins 360 degrees, and it measures 13 inches high and 7 inches in diameter.

The base is what separates it: a platform that sits on the counter and turns as a unit. Nifty suggests it for a kitchen, dorm room or office coffee bar, and at this size it’s meant to sit next to the brewer.

We read no independent test of this carousel. A general note on all carousels: pods are held by their rims, so fit can vary with brand. If you buy compatible pods from a store brand, check them against the rails when it arrives.

Why we like it

  • Spins 360 degrees on a lazy Susan base
  • Holds up to 35 pods
  • A black powder-coated finish
  • Published height and diameter

Key specifications

Model 5771
Type Carousel
Pod capacity 35 K-Cup-compatible pods
Material Black powder-coated finish
Footprint 7-inch diameter, 13 inches tall
Sits under brewer No
Compatibility Compatible with K-Cups
Warranty Not stated

Why we recommend it

Buy it if you prefer a carousel but want black over Keurig’s chrome, or if you’re buying for an office coffee bar.

Skip it if you have only a narrow gap beside the brewer. It’s a little wider than Keurig’s carousel.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Lazy Susan base
  • Dark finish
  • Sold by Nifty’s own storefront when we checked

Cons

  • Takes counter space
  • Pods stay on display
  • No warranty stated

5. Mind Reader 36-Pod Coffee Drawer With Dividers – Removable Dividers for Mixed Storage

Most flexible drawerMind Reader Single Serve Coffee Pod Drawer

Most pod drawers are fixed rows. Mind Reader’s has removable dividers, so you can keep pods sorted by flavor or take the dividers out to open up space for larger coffee accessories. That’s useful if you also keep tea, sugar packets or a reusable filter near the brewer.

It holds up to 36 single-serve pods and measures 12.75 by 13 by 3 inches, a little lower than the Nifty drawer. The metal frame is described as supporting most single-serve machines for daily countertop use. Mind Reader itself advises measuring your surface space and vertical clearance before ordering, and that’s sound advice.

The listing is clear that it comes with no warranty, which is a real difference from longer-established brands. Against that, it’s a simple metal box with a sliding drawer, with little to wear out.

Why we like it

  • Removable dividers sort pods or open up space
  • Holds up to 36 pods
  • A slightly lower 3-inch height
  • Metal frame supports most single-serve machines

Key specifications

Model MTRAY-BLK
Type Drawer
Pod capacity 36 single-serve pods
Material Metal
Footprint 12.75 x 13 inches
Sits under brewer Yes
Compatibility Single-serve pods
Warranty No warranty

Why we recommend it

It suits a coffee station that holds more than one kind of thing, where a fixed row would waste the room.

Skip it if a warranty matters to you. The listing says there’s none.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Dividers can come out
  • Low height
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Cons

  • No warranty
  • We read no independent review
  • Takes a full brewer-sized footprint

6. Amazon Basics 3-Drawer Pod Organizer, 36 Pods – Three Separate Drawers to Sort Flavors

Best for sortingAmazon Basics K-Cup Compatible Coffee Pod Storage Drawer

Three small drawers in place of one big one help if you want to keep regular, decaf and tea apart, because you only open the drawer you need. Amazon Basics says it holds up to 36 K-Cups in total, and the drawers are easy-open with a mirror-finish handle.

At 13.5 by 12.9 by 2.5 inches, it’s the lowest drawer here, which makes it a good first look if clearance under your cabinets is tight. The listing says it supports the weight of a coffee machine without bending, and a soft pad on the bottom protects the counter.

It’s an Amazon-owned brand with no warranty stated on this listing, so the question is mostly whether you value the three-drawer layout. If you only drink one kind of pod, a single drawer gives you easier loading.

Why we like it

  • Three drawers separate pods by type
  • The lowest profile on this page, at 2.5 inches
  • A soft pad protects the counter
  • Holds up to 36 K-Cups

Key specifications

Model DHCD001
Type 3-drawer unit
Pod capacity 36 K-Cup pods
Material Not stated
Footprint 13.5 x 12.9 inches
Sits under brewer Yes
Compatibility K-Cup compatible

Why we recommend it

Buy it if your household keeps several types of pod, and you want a low unit under the brewer.

Skip it if you’d like one wide open drawer. Each section here is a smaller space to load.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Sorting is built in
  • Low height
  • Anti-slip pad

Cons

  • Material not stated on the listing
  • Smaller sections to load
  • No warranty stated

7. Deco Brothers K-Cup Drawer, 36 Pods – A Plain Sliding Drawer

Simple single drawerDeco Brothers K-Cup Holder Drawer for 36 Coffee Pods Storage

If you just want a basic drawer, Deco Brothers makes one with few features to think about. It holds up to 36 K-Cup pods in a single sliding drawer, designed to fit under most Keurig coffee makers, and it has rubber feet to keep it from sliding on a smooth counter.

The listing gives its size as 13 by 13.25 by 3.25 inches, with a black body and a metal top. It doesn’t state a weight limit, so check your brewer against it if you own a large model with a big water tank.

Think of this one as the straightforward option. It has no rolling base, no dividers and no separate compartments, and we read no independent test of it. It’s here for someone who already knows they want a drawer and doesn’t need the extras above.

Why we like it

  • Holds up to 36 K-Cup pods
  • A single sliding drawer is easy to load
  • Rubber feet keep it in place
  • Fits under most Keurig brewers, per the listing

Key specifications

How to choose a K-Cup holder

Start with where the pods will live. A drawer goes under the brewer, so it doesn’t use new counter space. A carousel stands beside it, so it needs its own few inches but shows you everything at once. If you have a small counter, the drawer usually wins. If you have visitors or several people choosing, the carousel may suit you better.

Then measure the height. Any drawer lifts the brewer by two and a half to three and a half inches. Stand your brewer in place, open the lid as if to load a pod and measure up to the cabinet. If you’re short, look at the lowest drawers here, or the rolling Nifty, which brings the machine forward to open.

Check the brewer’s footprint, too. A slim machine sits comfortably on the Keurig Slim, while a large brewer needs a full-width drawer. Check its weight when full of water, because few listings give a weight limit. Our single-serve coffee maker guide and Keurig guide give brewer details.

Finally, count your pods. One or two flavors won’t need 36 slots, but a house with several will fill them. And check pod type. Keurig’s slim drawer says it won’t take K-Mug, K-Carafe, Vue or Rivo pods, so if you use larger formats, confirm the fit before you order.

How we picked these seven pod holders

We haven’t used these holders. We looked for different solutions rather than seven versions of one drawer: slim, full-width, rolling, three-drawer and carousel. Specs come from each listing and we checked that every pick was in stock.

We searched for independent reviews and mostly found affiliate roundups that added nothing beyond the listings, so we don’t rely on them. We read Best Buy buyer reviews of a Nifty non-rolling drawer, which describe it as sturdy, a good fit under a Keurig and prone to tipping pods when part-filled. They cover a similar Nifty drawer, not the exact rolling model, and they’re buyer reports rather than a test. The other picks rest on listing and maker details.

Two brands here, Amazon Basics and Deco Brothers, sell mainly through Amazon, and we capped such brands at two.

Coffee pod storage drawer questions, answered

Is a drawer or a carousel better for K-Cups?

A drawer saves counter space and hides the pods, but raises the brewer. A carousel keeps every flavor in view and leaves the brewer where it is, but needs its own space.

Will a pod drawer hold the weight of my coffee maker?

The drawers here are designed to sit under a brewer, and several listings say so directly. Few give a weight figure, though, so take care with very large machines.

Do these fit non-Keurig pods?

Check first. Nifty and Amazon Basics describe their holders as K-Cup compatible, and store-brand K-Cup-style pods should fit a similar space. Keurig’s slim drawer rules out K-Mug, K-Carafe, Vue and Rivo. Nespresso capsules are a different shape, so don’t assume they’ll fit.

Why do pods tip in a part-filled drawer?

Buyers of a Nifty drawer report that pods can tip on their side when the row is not full, making the drawer hard to close. Keeping rows full or using the Mind Reader’s dividers to pack them more tightly may help.

How much height does a drawer add?

The drawers here run from 2.5 inches for the Amazon Basics to 3.5 inches for the Nifty rolling drawer. Measure from the top of the raised brewer to your cabinets.

Our final pick for pod storage

Choose the Keurig Slim drawer if you have a Keurig and keep a small selection, and the Keurig carousel if you want to see your pods. The rolling Nifty is worth it if a low cabinet gets in your way. If you’re thinking about moving away from pods altogether, see our guide to the single-serve coffee maker without pods.
