A busy Mexican kitchen fills a trash can fast. One afternoon of salsa and guacamole leaves onion skins, cilantro stems, tomato cores, lime rinds and a heap of avocado skins and pits, and a tamalada adds a bag of corn husks nobody used. A pull-out puts that bin inside a base cabinet, right under the counter where you cut, and gets it off the floor.
The hard part is not choosing a brand. It is fitting the cabinet you already have. This guide covers eight pull-out trash cans from Rev-A-Shelf, Knape & Vogt, Hailo (sold as Hafele) and Home Zone Living, sorted by the cabinet each one fits, with the minimum opening each maker or listing states. Where a listing is silent, we say “not stated”.

Quick verdict: the best pull out trash can for your cabinet
For a standard 15-inch base cabinet, the Rev-A-Shelf Double 35-Quart Maple Pullout is the one to buy: two 35-quart cans, door-mount brackets in the box, and a stated minimum opening of 14.5 inches for face-frame and frameless cabinets. For a 12-inch cabinet, the Knape & Vogt Double 27-Quart still gives you two bins. For an 18-inch cabinet and a lid over the bins, the Hailo Euro Cargo 45. For the most capacity, the Rev-A-Shelf Double 50-Quart, if you have a full-height 21-inch cabinet. For a 9-inch filler cabinet, the Knape & Vogt Single 20-Quart.
A pull-out is one kind of kitchen trash can. If you have no spare cabinet, or would rather not install anything, our guide to the best kitchen trash can covers step, sensor and touch-top cans that stand on the floor.

Our picks for the best pull out trash can
These eight cover the real choices: one bin or two, a 9-, 12-, 15-, 18- or 21-inch cabinet, a frame that mounts to the floor or the side panels, a cabinet door that pulls the bins out or a handle you pull yourself. Each pick says which cabinet it suits and gives one honest reason to skip it.
1. Rev-A-Shelf Double 35-Quart Maple Pullout – Fits the Common 15-Inch Cabinet

Many kitchens have a 15-inch base cabinet somewhere near the sink or the prep counter, and this is the Rev-A-Shelf unit sized for it. Two 35-quart metallic silver cans sit side by side in a maple frame with a semi-gloss finish, so one can takes the onion skins, tomato cores and avocado pits from a salsa session and the other takes cans, bottles and cardboard.
Rev-A-Shelf gives the numbers you need before you order. The unit measures 14.25 inches wide, 21.75 deep and 19.25 high, and the listing says the cabinet opening must be at least 14.5 inches wide, 21.75 deep and 20 high, with the same minimum for face-frame and frameless cabinets. It also tells you to check hinge clearance, which is where most pull-outs fail to fit. That 20-inch height usually works under a top drawer, but measure the actual opening, not the cabinet’s catalog size.
The frame screws to the cabinet floor, and the adjustable door-mount brackets come in the box; Rev-A-Shelf says they are required for operation, so the door pulls the bins out with it. The listing title calls the slides soft-close, while the bullets describe ball-bearing slides without mentioning soft-close, so treat the closing action as unconfirmed. When a can is full, you lift it out of the frame to empty it. The listing states a limited lifetime warranty.
Why we like it
- Opening size given for face-frame and frameless cabinets
- Door-mount brackets included
- Two 35-quart cans for trash and recycling
- Limited lifetime warranty, per the listing
Key specifications
| Model | 4WCBM-18DM-2 |

| Slides | Ball-bearing; soft-close named in title only |
| Door kit | Included, required |
| Warranty | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if you have a 15-inch base cabinet and want trash and recycling hidden behind one door, with the door doing the pulling.
Skip it if your cabinet opening is under 14.5 inches wide or a hinge or pipe sits in the way; it needs the full opening.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Clear minimum opening for both cabinet types
- Door brackets in the box
- Cans lift out for cleaning
Cons
- Soft-close not confirmed in the bullets
- No lids included
- Bag size not stated
2. Knape & Vogt Double 27-Quart Soft-Close Pull-Out – Two Bins in a 12-Inch Cabinet

Narrow cabinets usually mean giving up the second bin. This Knape & Vogt unit keeps both: two 27-quart platinum bins on a frame 11-3/8 inches wide, 22 deep and 18-3/4 high. The listing gives the minimum cabinet interior as 12 inches wide, 19 inches high and 22-9/16 inches deep, so it is meant for the slim cabinet beside a dishwasher or range that often goes to baking sheets.
This unit is from Knape & Vogt’s SCB line of soft-close bottom-mount waste bins. The listing describes heavy-duty full-extension ball-bearing slides with soft-close, so a full bin does not slam when you push it home. It installs with four screws; Knape & Vogt recommends a cordless drill and a tape measure.
Two 27-quart bins are smaller than a standard tall kitchen bag, so plan on emptying more often or using smaller bags. This listing does not say whether a door-mount kit is included, and it gives no warranty, so as written this is a pull-by-hand unit unless you add hardware. It is sold by Amazon.
Why we like it
- Two bins in a 12-inch cabinet
- Soft-close full-extension slides, per the listing
- Four-screw installation
- Minimum interior size stated in three dimensions

Skip it if you want the cabinet door to pull the bins out; the listing does not include a door kit.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Two bins where most units fit one
- Soft-close slides
- Simple screw-down install
Cons
- Smaller bins than full-width units
- Door kit and warranty not stated
- Needs 22-9/16 inches of depth

3. Hailo Euro Cargo 45 Double 38-Liter Pull-Out – A Lid That Stays in the Cabinet

Hailo pull-outs are sold in the US under the Hafele name. The Euro Cargo 45 is built for an 18-inch base cabinet: two 38-liter bins, a lid that stays in the cabinet while the bins slide out, and over-extension slides that bring the bins past the cabinet face so a countertop overhang does not block the back bin. The listing says it is designed and made in Germany.
Fit details are stated in full. The listing gives a minimum opening of 17-23/32 inches wide, 20-25/32 high and a cabinet depth of 21-7/16 inches, with overall dimensions of about 16-1/2 by 20-13/16 by 21-7/16 inches. The frame mounts to the cabinet side panels and self-adjusts for 5/8- or 3/4-inch panels, which is the frameless construction common in European-style and many newer cabinets.
This listing, sold by Kitchen Inventions, includes the slides, the frame with lid, both bins, a door kit, an installation template and screws; you supply the cabinet door. The title names soft-close slides and the listing states a 110-pound load rating. The fixed lid is the main difference from the American units here: it keeps smells inside the bins and gives you a shelf for spare bags.
Why we like it
- Fixed lid over both bins
- Over-extension slides clear a countertop overhang
- Door kit and template included
- Made in Germany, per the listing
Key specifications
| Model | Euro Cargo 45 (503.70.532) |
|---|---|
| Bins | Two 38-liter bins |
| Minimum cabinet opening | 17-23/32 W x 20-25/32 H x 21-7/16 D in |
| Unit size | About 16-1/2 W x 20-13/16 D x 21-7/16 H in |
| Mounting | Side mount, self-adjusting for 5/8 or 3/4 in panels |
| Slides | Over-extension; soft-close named in title |
| Door kit | Included |
| Warranty | Not stated |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if you have an 18-inch cabinet, especially a frameless one, and want a lid over the bins without opening anything by hand.
Skip it if your cabinet has a face frame narrower than the stated opening; check the width inside the frame, not the box.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Lid contains smells and holds bags
- Large 38-liter bins
- Complete kit with door hardware
Cons
- Sold by a third-party dealer, not Hafele directly
- Needs an 18-inch cabinet
- Warranty not stated in the listing
4. Rev-A-Shelf Double 50-Quart Soft-Close Pullout – The Most Room for Big Cook Days

If your kitchen fills a bag a day, small bins mean constant trips. This Rev-A-Shelf unit holds two 50-quart cans, each about 12.5 gallons, which is close to a standard tall kitchen can apiece. A tamalada, with its pile of unused husks, or a weekend of carnitas and salsa, is less likely to need emptying halfway through.
The catch is the cabinet. Rev-A-Shelf says it is designed for 21-inch base cabinets, needs an opening of at least 18 inches wide, 22.13 deep and 24.5 high, and requires a full-height cabinet with no drawer above the door. Many kitchens have a cabinet like that beside the sink; many do not, so measure before anything else.
The construction details are the fullest on this page. The maple frame is fully assembled with solid dovetail construction, and the undermount full-extension slides are concealed and soft-close, which keeps food debris out of the runners. The box includes one 50-quart lid and the required door-mount brackets, and Rev-A-Shelf sells an optional Tip-On Kit (4WC-TOKIT-18) for push-to-open. The listing states a limited lifetime warranty.
Why we like it
- Two 50-quart cans
- Concealed soft-close full-extension slides
- Dovetail maple frame, fully assembled
- Door brackets and one lid included

| Mounting | Bottom mount, screws to cabinet floor |
| Slides | Undermount full-extension, soft-close |
| Door kit | Included, required |
| Warranty | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if you cook in volume and have a full-height 21-inch cabinet with no drawer above the door.
Skip it if your base cabinets have a top drawer; the unit needs 24.5 inches of clear height.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Largest capacity on this list
- Soft-close concealed slides
- Optional push-to-open kit
Cons
- Needs a full-height cabinet
- Only one lid for two cans
- Takes a wide cabinet
5. Knape & Vogt Single 20-Quart Pull-Out – For a 9-Inch Filler Cabinet

Some kitchens have a 9-inch cabinet that holds nothing but a few trays. Knape & Vogt makes this single 20-quart pull-out for exactly that spot. The listing gives the minimum cabinet opening as 8-1/2 inches wide and 17-1/2 high, with an interior depth of 20-1/2 inches, the narrowest stated fit on this page.
It runs on heavy-duty ball-bearing precision slides, and Knape & Vogt says an updated wire management system holds the bin securely on the frame so it does not shift when you pull. The frame is white steel.
Twenty quarts is five gallons, so this works best as a second bin, for recycling or for compost scraps on their way out, or as the main can in a small household. The listing does not mention soft-close, a door-mount kit or a warranty, so expect to pull it out by hand unless you add hardware. It is sold by Amazon.
Why we like it
- Fits an 8-1/2-inch opening
- Ball-bearing slides
- Wire frame holds the bin in place, per the maker
Key specifications
| Model | RS-PSW9-1-20-W |
|---|---|
| Bins | One 20-qt bin |
| Minimum cabinet opening | 8-1/2 W x 17-1/2 H in; 20-1/2 in interior depth |
| Unit size | Not stated |
| Mounting | Bottom mount |
| Slides | Ball-bearing, full extension not stated |
| Door kit | Not stated |
| Warranty | Not stated |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if a narrow filler cabinet is the only space you have, or you want a separate recycling or compost bin.
Skip it if it would be your only trash can in a busy kitchen; 20 quarts fills fast.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Narrowest fit here
- Uses wasted filler space
- Simple steel frame
Cons
- Small capacity
- No soft-close or door kit stated
- Unit size not listed

6. Rev-A-Shelf Single 35-Quart Maple Pullout – One Full Bin, Narrow Cabinet

This is the single-can version of the best overall pick, and it fills a different need than the Knape & Vogt double: one 35-quart can instead of two 27-quart bins in about the same cabinet width. If you recycle elsewhere, or you would rather have one larger bin than two small ones, it is the better choice for a 12-inch cabinet.
The unit measures 11.98 inches wide, 21.75 deep and 19.25 high. Rev-A-Shelf gives the minimum opening as 11.5 inches wide for face-frame cabinets and 12.25 inches for frameless ones, with 21.75 inches of depth and 19.5 inches of height. That height means it can sit under a top drawer in many cabinets.
Like the double, it has a maple frame with a semi-gloss finish that screws to the cabinet floor, and the adjustable door-mount brackets are included and required. The listing title says soft-close and soft-open, while the bullets only describe ball-bearing slides. The listing states a limited lifetime warranty.
Why we like it
- Separate minimums for face-frame and frameless cabinets
- One 35-quart can in a 12-inch cabinet
- Door brackets included
- Limited lifetime warranty, per the listing
Key specifications
| Model | 4WCBM-15DM-1 |
|---|---|
| Bins | One 35-qt metallic silver can |
| Minimum cabinet opening | 11.5 W (12.25 frameless) x 21.75 D x 19.5 H in |
| Unit size | 11.98 W x 21.75 D x 19.25 H in |
| Mounting | Bottom mount, screws to cabinet floor |
| Slides | Ball-bearing; soft-close named in title only |
| Door kit | Included, required |
| Warranty | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if you have a 12-inch cabinet and want one larger trash can rather than two small bins.
Skip it if you want recycling and trash in the same cabinet.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Larger single can than the narrow doubles
- Door-operated
- Fits under a top drawer
Cons
- No recycling bin
- Soft-close not confirmed in the bullets
- No lid included
7. Hailo Tandem 30 Double 15-Liter Pull-Out – Low Enough for the Sink Cabinet

The sink base is where most people want the trash, and it is the hardest place to fit a pull-out because of the drain and the disposal. The Hailo Tandem 30 is short and slim for that reason. The listing gives the unit as 9-7/8 inches wide, 18-7/8 deep and 15-3/4 high, and the minimum cabinet opening as 10-3/4 inches wide and 16 high, with 19-1/8 inches of depth. That is the lowest stated fit on this page.
It holds two 15-liter bins, about 4 gallons each, with carrying handles, and a bag can be fitted over each bin’s rim. The lid stays in the cabinet while the bins glide out on full-extension slides, so it doubles as a shelf. You pull it by hand rather than with the door, and the listing says it can go on the left, right or center of the cabinet, which helps you work around the pipes. The listing gives an 88-pound load capacity.
Thirty liters in total is modest, so this suits a household that empties often or uses it for recycling beside a main can. This listing is sold by Kitchen Inventions, a third-party seller, and states a one-year manufacturer warranty and that the unit is designed and made in Germany. Hailo pull-outs are also sold in the US under the Hafele name.
Why we like it
- Lowest stated opening height here: 16 inches
- Mounts left, right or center around plumbing
- Lid stays in the cabinet as a shelf
- Two bins with carrying handles
Key specifications
| Model | Tandem 30 (Hafele 502.70.252) |
|---|---|
| Bins | Two 15-liter bins |
| Minimum cabinet opening | 10-3/4 W x 16 H x 19-1/8 D in |
| Unit size | 9-7/8 W x 18-7/8 D x 15-3/4 H in |
| Mounting | Mounts in cabinet, left, right or center |
| Slides | Full-extension, manual |
| Door kit | Not used; opens by hand |
| Warranty | 1 year |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if the only place for trash is the cabinet under the sink, beside the pipes.
Skip it if you want the bins to come out when you open the door.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Short enough for under-sink use
- Narrow footprint
- Lid over the bins
Cons
- Small total capacity
- Pulled by hand
- Third-party seller; one-year warranty
8. Home Zone Living 15-Gallon Dual Pull-Out Can – Bins and Frame in One Box

Home Zone Living is a brand sold mainly on Amazon, and this is a complete pull-out: two bins, a frame and ball-bearing glides, with a handle on the front so it works without attaching to the cabinet door. That makes it the simplest unit here to set up, and the easiest to take with you if you move.
The listing gives the unit as 20.78 by 15.20 by 19.25 inches and the minimum cabinet space as 21.78 by 16.20 by 24.80 inches, but does not label which figure is width, depth or height. Read together, it needs a cabinet about 16.2 inches wide inside, which rules out a standard 15-inch cabinet, and it may need more height than the unit itself. Measure and compare before ordering.
Total capacity is 58 liters, or about 15.3 gallons, split between trash and recycling. The listing states a one-year limited warranty and US-based support. It is sold by Amazon.
Why we like it
- Complete unit with both bins
- Front handle, no door hardware needed
- 58 liters total across two bins
- One-year limited warranty, per the listing
Key specifications
| Model | VK40235U |
|---|---|

| Mounting | Sits in the cabinet; mounting not stated |
| Slides | Ball-bearing glides |
| Door kit | None; front handle |
| Warranty | 1-year limited |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if you want a ready-made pull-out that you can install and remove without drilling into the door.
Skip it if your cabinet is a standard 15-inch base; the stated minimum is wider.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Nothing to assemble onto the door
- Trash and recycling bins included
- Large total capacity
Cons
- Amazon-first brand with little maker detail
- Dimension axes not labeled
- Short warranty
How to choose a pull-out for an under-cabinet trash setup
An under cabinet trash pull out is only as good as its fit. These are the points that decide it, in the order we would check them.
Measure the opening, not the cabinet
Cabinets are sold by outside width, so the opening of a “15-inch cabinet” is narrower once you subtract the side panels and any face frame. Measure the clear width between the frame or hinges, the height from the cabinet floor to the underside of any drawer or rail above, and the depth from the back of the door to the back wall. Then compare all three to the maker’s stated minimum. Every pick here states one; that is why they made the list.

Check hinges, pipes and the drawer above
Hinges and their mounting plates stick into the opening and are the most common reason a pull-out will not fit. Under a sink, the drain trap and a garbage disposal take space too, which is why low units like the Hailo Tandem 30 exist. A top drawer cuts the height available; units like the Rev-A-Shelf 50-quart need a full-height cabinet with no drawer at all.
Face frame or frameless
Traditional American cabinets have a face frame around the opening; European-style and many newer cabinets do not. Some units give a different minimum width for each, like the Rev-A-Shelf single (11.5 inches with a frame, 12.25 without). Side-mounted units like the Hailo Euro Cargo attach to the cabinet’s side panels, so they suit frameless boxes.
One bin or two
Two bins let you separate trash from recycling, or keep a bin for food scraps that go to compost, but each bin is smaller. If you already have a kitchen recycling bin elsewhere, one larger can may serve you better than two small ones.
Door-mounted or pulled by hand
Door-mounted pull-outs come out when you open the cabinet door, so you can push it with a hip while your hands are full. That needs brackets: Rev-A-Shelf includes them with the picks here; for the Knape & Vogt units the listings do not say. Hand-pulled units like the Hailo Tandem 30 and the Home Zone Living can are easier to install and remove.
Bags and lids
Few of these listings name a bag size, so measure a bin once it arrives and buy bags to suit; our guide to trash bags can help. Most pull-outs have no lid and rely on the cabinet door to hold in smells, so empty them often when the bin holds shrimp shells or meat trimmings.
How we chose these eight pull-outs
We started from the cabinet sizes most kitchens have, from a 9-inch filler to a full-height 21-inch base, and looked for a pull-out from an established maker for each. Every pick had to state a minimum cabinet opening or cabinet size, be in stock and sold new on Amazon when we checked, and differ from the other picks in a way a buyer would notice: cabinet width, bin count, mounting or capacity. Rev-A-Shelf makes many near-identical units in different colors; we kept three that fit different cabinets.
Every specification comes from the maker’s details on the Amazon listing. We have not installed or used these units ourselves. Our searches did not turn up a comparative review of pull-out trash cans from an independent outlet we could read, so these picks rest on the maker and listing details. We left out several low-cost frames sold under unfamiliar brand names with little maker information, and the simplehuman pull-out, which we already cover on another page.
Under-cabinet trash pull-out questions, answered
Will a pull-out trash can fit under my sink?
Often, but not a full-size one. The drain trap and any disposal take the middle and back of the cabinet. A low, narrow unit such as the Hailo Tandem 30, which is 15-3/4 inches high, can sit to one side. Measure the clear space beside the plumbing, not the whole cabinet. Our guide to under-sink organizers covers the rest of that space.
What size pull-out fits a 15-inch cabinet?
A 15-inch cabinet usually takes a double 35-quart unit like the Rev-A-Shelf 4WCBM-18DM-2, which needs a 14.5-inch opening. If your opening is narrower than that, look at the 12-inch units instead.
What is the difference between bottom-mount and side-mount pull-outs?
Bottom-mount units screw to the cabinet floor and work in most cabinets. Side-mount (or top-mount) units attach to the cabinet’s side panels, which suits frameless cabinets and leaves the floor clear, but they need the panels to be solid and the width to be exact.
Can I add a pull-out trash can to an existing cabinet?
Yes. All eight here are retrofit units that screw into an existing cabinet. You will need a drill, a tape measure and, for door-mounted units, some patience lining up the door. If you would rather turn the cabinet into general storage, see our guide to pull-out cabinet drawers.
Do pull-out trash cans take regular bags?
Most of these listings do not name a bag size. A 35-quart can is just under 9 gallons and a 50-quart can about 12.5 gallons, so look for bags in about that gallon size and check the fit once the bins arrive.
Our final pick for an under-counter bin
Measure first. For a standard 15-inch cabinet, buy the Rev-A-Shelf Double 35-Quart Maple Pullout. Choose the Knape & Vogt Double 27-Quart for a 12-inch cabinet, the Hailo Euro Cargo 45 for an 18-inch cabinet and a lid, the Rev-A-Shelf 50-Quart for a full-height 21-inch cabinet and big cook days, and the Knape & Vogt 20-Quart for a narrow filler.
