Finding the Best 8 Inch Ceramic Fry Pan for Your Kitchen

Eight 8-inch ceramic fry pans for eggs and tortillas: which work on induction, real cooking-surface sizes, oven ratings and what each coating is free of.

An 8-inch fry pan is the one that never goes back in the cupboard. It fries one or two eggs, warms a couple of tortillas, toasts a handful of pepitas or cumin seeds, and melts the cheese on a single quesadilla. A ceramic coating suits that kind of quick, low-heat work, and most makers sell it as an alternative to PTFE nonstick.

Small pans have their own problems, though. Sloped sides eat into a small floor, light bodies warp, and some 8-inch pans are just a shrunken version of a bigger model with the same weaknesses. This guide covers only ceramic fry pans in the 8-inch class. For every size, start with our guide to the best non stick pan ceramic.

Quick verdict: which 8-inch ceramic pan to buy

For most kitchens, the GreenPan Chatham 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan is the one to buy: a hard-anodized body, a diamond-reinforced coating that GreenPan rates safe for metal utensils, dishwasher safe, and an oven and broiler rating of 600°F. If you cook on induction and want a pan built to last, the Made In CeramiClad 2.0 8-inch has a five-ply stainless body. On a tight budget with an induction stove, choose the GreenLife Essentials 8-inch.

Below, eight pans that suit different stoves and budgets, and how to choose between them.

Our picks for the best 8 inch ceramic fry pan

These eight pans cover the jobs a small ceramic pan does best: eggs for one or two, a warm tortilla, toasted spices, a single quesadilla. They span hard-anodized, clad stainless and plain aluminum bodies, and both induction and non-induction stoves. Two are smaller versions of pans in our related guides (the Made In and the Caraway); we include them because the 8-inch model is sold on its own and is a different pan to use. Every pan was in stock on Amazon when we checked.

1. GreenPan Chatham 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan – Hard-Anodized and Dishwasher Safe

Best overallGreenPan Chatham Hard Anodized Healthy Ceramic Nonstick

The Chatham is GreenPan’s sturdier everyday line, and in the 8-inch size it is the pan we would reach for first for eggs. The body is hard-anodized aluminum, which GreenPan describes as scratch-resistant and built for daily use. The interior is GreenPan’s Thermolon ceramic coating, which GreenPan states is free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium and will not release toxic fumes even if it is accidentally overheated.

Two details set it apart from cheaper small pans. GreenPan says this collection’s coating is diamond-reinforced and safe with metal utensils, and the pan is rated dishwasher safe. It also goes into the oven and under the broiler up to 600°F, so a small frittata or a tortilla with melted cheese can finish under the heat.

The Amazon listing does not say whether the Chatham works on induction, so treat it as a pan for gas, electric and radiant cooktops unless GreenPan confirms otherwise. Even with a metal-safe rating, a silicone or wood spatula keeps any coating slick for longer.

Why we like it

  • Diamond-reinforced coating rated for metal utensils, per GreenPan.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Oven and broiler safe to 600°F.
  • Coating stated as free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium.

Key specifications

Stovetops Induction not stated on the listing
Oven safe Up to 600°F, broiler safe
Dishwasher Yes
Metal utensils Yes, per GreenPan

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook on gas or electric who wants a tough, small ceramic pan that can go in the dishwasher and the oven.

Skip it if you cook on induction: the listing does not say it works there.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Metal-utensil-safe coating
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Highest oven rating here

2. Made In CeramiClad 2.0 8-inch Fry Pan – Ceramic on Five-Ply Stainless

Premium pickMade In Cookware - 8" CeramiClad 2.0 Non Stick Frying Pan (Black Coating

Made In’s CeramiClad line puts a ceramic coating on a five-ply stainless clad body, the same construction the company uses for its bare stainless pans. Our related guides list the 10- and 12-inch versions; the 8-inch is its own model, and it is the small ceramic pan to buy if you want something built to outlast the coating’s easy years.

Made In states the coating is free of PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium. The pan works on all stovetops including induction, goes into the oven up to 550°F, and is made in Italy, per the listing. The handle is stainless steel and described as stay-cool.

Read the dimensions before you buy. The listing gives an overall diameter of 8.5 inches but a cooking-surface diameter of just 5 inches, with a 1.75-inch depth. That flat floor fits one or two eggs or a small tortilla, not a full-size flour tortilla. If you want more flat room in a small pan, look at the Le Creuset or the Henckels.

Why we like it

  • Five-ply stainless clad body, made in Italy.
  • Works on all stovetops, including induction.
  • Oven safe to 550°F.
  • Coating stated as free of PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium.

Key specifications

Coating (per maker) Ceramic; free of PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead, cadmium
Stovetops All, including induction
Oven safe Up to 550°F
Dishwasher Not stated on the listing
Metal utensils Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

It suits an induction cook who wants a small ceramic pan with a heavy, even-heating clad body.

Skip it if you need a wide flat floor; the listing gives only 5 inches of cooking surface.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Clad stainless body
  • Induction compatible
  • Made in Italy

Cons

  • Small 5-inch cooking surface
  • Costs more than the aluminum pans

3. Le Creuset Essential 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan – Stainless Base Against Warping

Best warp-resistant baseLe Creuset Essential Non-Stick Ceramic Shallow Frying Pan

Small aluminum pans have a habit of warping, and a pan that rocks on the burner makes eggs cook unevenly. Le Creuset’s Essential pan is built against that. Its listing describes a forged, heavy-gauge aluminum core with a fully encapsulated stainless steel base and a reinforced rim, which Le Creuset says prevent warping.

The interior is an all-over ceramic coating that Le Creuset states is made without PFAS. Le Creuset’s listing also claims good searing and browning with or without oil or butter, and describes the handle as stay-cool and ergonomic. This is a shallow frying pan, so the sloped sides make it easy to slide an omelet or a tortilla out.

The Amazon listing is short and leaves out a few things: it does not state an oven limit, dishwasher rating or induction compatibility. A US retailer’s listing for Le Creuset’s 8- and 10-inch Essential set gives induction compatibility and a 550°F oven rating, but confirm those with Le Creuset before you rely on them.

Why we like it

  • Encapsulated stainless base and reinforced rim to prevent warping, per Le Creuset.
  • Forged, heavy-gauge aluminum core.
  • All-over ceramic coating made without PFAS.

Key specifications

Model 51314020001001
Size 8-inch
Body Forged aluminum core, encapsulated stainless base
Coating (per maker) Ceramic, made without PFAS
Stovetops Not stated on the Amazon listing
Oven safe Not stated on the Amazon listing
Dishwasher Not stated on the Amazon listing
Metal utensils Not stated on the Amazon listing

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who has had small pans warp and wants a flat, heavy base that stays put on the burner.

Skip it if you want every rating spelled out on the listing; this one leaves oven, dishwasher and stovetop details out.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Built to resist warping
  • Heavy-gauge forged core
  • PFAS-free coating claim

Cons

  • Thin Amazon listing details
  • Premium cost for a small pan

4. Henckels Clad H3 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan – Tri-Ply Body with a Pour Spout

Best clad valueHenckels Clad H3 8 inch Ceramic Frying Pan

Henckels, part of the Zwilling group, puts a ceramic coating on a tri-ply clad body here: stainless steel outside, an aluminum core for even heat, per the listing. It is a cheaper route to a clad ceramic pan than the Made In, and it works on all cooktops including induction.

The coating is Ceraforce ceramic, which Henckels states is made without PFAS, PTFE, lead and cadmium, and which the listing says is safe with metal utensils. Two small touches help in daily use: a pouring spout with a flared rim for butter or pan juices, and hollow cast stainless handles that Henckels describes as stay-cool.

The oven limit is 400°F, lower than most pans on this page, which matters only if you broil in the pan. The listing mentions a glass lid with a built-in strainer in its general bullets, but the title and size describe a single 8-inch pan, so do not count on a lid in the box.

Why we like it

  • Tri-ply clad body with an aluminum core.
  • Works on all cooktops, including induction.
  • Coating stated as made without PFAS, PTFE, lead and cadmium; metal-utensil safe.
  • Pouring spout and flared rim.

Key specifications

Model 1023636
Size 8-inch
Body Tri-ply clad, aluminum core
Coating (per maker) Ceraforce ceramic; made without PFAS, PTFE, lead, cadmium
Stovetops All, including induction
Oven safe Up to 400°F
Dishwasher Not stated on the listing
Metal utensils Yes, per the listing

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who wants a clad stainless ceramic pan for induction without paying premium-brand prices.

Skip it if you want to put the pan under a broiler; 400°F is the limit.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Clad body for less
  • Induction compatible
  • Pour spout

Cons

  • Lower oven rating
  • Listing bullets mention a lid the title does not

5. Caraway 8-inch Mini Ceramic Fry Pan – Sized for One or Two

Best for one or twoCaraway Non-Stick Ceramic-Coated Mini Fry Pan (1.05 qt

Caraway’s Mini Fry Pan is its 10.5-inch fry pan, which appears in our main ceramic guide, scaled down to 8 inches and 1.05 quarts. Caraway pitches it for single-serve eggs and dinners for one or two, and that is the honest use for it: a fried egg, a warm tortilla, a small batch of toasted chiles de árbol.

Caraway states that all its pots and pans are free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead and cadmium. The pan works on gas, electric and induction stovetops and is oven safe up to 550°F, per the listing. Caraway advises using it on low to medium heat with a dash of oil or butter, which suits eggs anyway.

The listing linked here is the Cream color; Caraway sells several others. It does not state a weight, dishwasher rating or flat cooking-surface size, so compare it with the Made In’s dimensions if floor space matters.

Why we like it

  • Works on induction, gas and electric.
  • Oven safe to 550°F.
  • Caraway states the coating is free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead and cadmium.
  • Several colors to match a Caraway set.

Key specifications

Model Mini Fry Pan (Cream)
Size 8-inch, 1.05 quarts
Body Not stated on the listing
Coating (per maker) Ceramic; free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, cadmium
Stovetops Gas, electric, induction

Metal utensils Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook for one or two on any stove, especially one who already likes Caraway’s larger pan.

Skip it if you want a tough, metal-utensil-rated surface; Caraway’s care advice is gentle use at low to medium heat.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Induction compatible
  • High oven rating
  • Clear coating claims

Cons

  • Body, weight and dishwasher rating not stated
  • Needs gentle care

6. ZWILLING Parma Plus Ceramic 8-inch Fry Pan – Italian-Made with a Soft-Grip Handle

Best soft-grip handleZWILLING Parma Plus Ceramic 8-inch Aluminum Ceramic Nonstick Fry Pan

Zwilling’s Parma Plus Ceramic pan is a light, simple 8-inch pan made in Italy, per the listing. The body is what Zwilling calls extremely pure aluminum, chosen to heat quickly and brown well, and the coating is Ceraforce Granitium ceramic, stated as made without PFAS, PFOA, PTFE, lead and cadmium.

The handle is a soft-grip, stay-cool design with a hanging loop, which makes this the most comfortable pick here for a quick egg without reaching for a towel. The flared rim pours cleanly.

It has two clear limits on the listing. It works on gas, electric, ceramic and halogen stovetops, not induction. And it is oven safe only to 300°F, the lowest on this page, so treat it as a stovetop-only pan.

Why we like it

  • Made in Italy, per Zwilling.
  • Soft-grip stay-cool handle with hanging loop.
  • Coating stated as made without PFAS, PFOA, PTFE, lead and cadmium.

Key specifications

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Comfortable soft-grip handle
  • Made in Italy
  • Clear coating claims

Cons

  • No induction
  • 300°F oven limit

7. Blue Diamond Hard Anodized 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan – Metal-Utensil Safe for Less

Best low-cost hard-anodizedBlue Diamond Cookware Hard Anodized Ceramic Nonstick

This is not the classic blue Blue Diamond pan but the brand’s hard-anodized line, which Blue Diamond says is harder and longer-lasting than its standard pans. It is a cheaper way to get many of the Chatham’s features: a hard-anodized body, a coating rated for metal utensils, dishwasher safe, and an oven and broiler rating of 600°F.

Blue Diamond states the coating is free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium. The listing describes a heavy-duty forged “warp control” base and riveted stainless steel handles.

Like the Chatham, it does not work on induction; the listing says it suits all stovetops except induction. Blue Diamond’s comparisons (“11x harder”, “2x longer lasting”) are against its own other pans, not against other brands, so read them that way.

Why we like it

  • Metal-utensil safe, per Blue Diamond.
  • Oven and broiler safe to 600°F; dishwasher safe.
  • Forged warp-control base.
  • Coating stated as free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium.

8. GreenLife Essentials 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan – Induction at a Low Cost

Budget pick for inductionGreenLife Essentials 8" Frying Pan Skillet

Most low-cost ceramic pans skip induction. GreenLife’s Essentials pan does not: the listing describes an induction-ready base that works on all stovetops. That makes it the simplest way to get a small ceramic pan on an induction cooktop without paying for clad steel.

GreenLife, GreenPan’s lower-cost sister brand, describes the coating as sand-derived and the title calls it PFAS-free. The body uses 70% recycled aluminum, per the listing. The pan is dishwasher safe and oven safe up to 350°F, and the handle is described as staying cool.

It is a light, basic pan, and the listing makes fewer claims than GreenPan’s own lines: no lead or cadmium statement and no metal-utensil rating. For eggs, tortillas and toasting spices on induction, it covers the basics.

Why we like it

  • Induction-ready base at a low cost.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Body made with 70% recycled aluminum.

Key specifications

Model CC008657-004 (Periwinkle)

  • Fewer coating claims than GreenPan’s lines

How to choose an 8-inch ceramic pan

At 8 inches, the coating matters less than the floor, the base and your stove.

1. Look at the flat floor, not the rim

Pans are measured across the rim. Sloped sides take a lot out of a small pan: Made In’s 8-inch lists a 5-inch cooking surface. For one egg that is fine; for a corn tortilla or a small quesadilla you want more. Few makers publish the floor size, so compare the listing photos and any dimensions given.

2. Induction or not

The Made In, Henckels, Caraway and GreenLife Essentials are rated for induction by their makers. The Zwilling Parma Plus and Blue Diamond are not, and the GreenPan Chatham and Le Creuset listings do not say. A small pan also needs to cover enough of the induction zone to switch it on, so check your cooktop’s minimum pan size.

Four eggs cooked in a small pan on a wire rack beside fresh tomatoes and a checked cloth
Several eggs fit in a small pan when they cook gently.

3. A base that stays flat

Light pans heated fast on a big burner are the ones that warp. Hard-anodized (GreenPan, Blue Diamond), clad stainless (Made In, Henckels) and Le Creuset’s stainless-capped base are all built to resist it. Whatever you buy, use a burner that matches the pan’s base and preheat at medium.

4. Oven, dishwasher and utensils

Oven ratings here run from 300°F (Zwilling) to 600°F (GreenPan, Blue Diamond). The GreenPan, Blue Diamond and GreenLife are rated dishwasher safe. The GreenPan, Blue Diamond and Henckels are rated for metal utensils, though wood or silicone is still kinder to any coating.

5. Read the coating claims

Most makers here state what their coating is free of: PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium, and often PTFE. Where a listing says less, we say so in the specs. For context, the FDA’s page on authorized uses of PFAS in food contact applications lists nonstick cookware coatings as one authorized use, so “PFAS-free” describes a maker’s choice of coating rather than a legal requirement.

How we picked these eight small ceramic pans

We started from what a working kitchen asks of a small nonstick pan: easy release for eggs, a flat base that stays put, a handle that stays cool, and a size that does one job well. We searched Amazon US for ceramic-coated fry pans in the 8-inch class, checked each one’s availability with the Amazon Creators API, and kept only pans in stock from makers we could identify. Specifications come from each maker’s Amazon listing; where it gives no figure, the table says “Not stated.” We checked the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall search for frying pans from these brands and found no matching recalls. We left out PTFE pans, hybrid steel-mesh pans and pans already recommended in our related guides, and we have not cooked on these pans for this guide.

Small ceramic pan care

  • Medium heat is enough. Caraway advises low to medium heat for its ceramic pans, and a small pan reaches temperature fast.
  • A little fat from the bottle. GreenPan advises against aerosol sprays, which it says burn onto the surface.
  • Soft tools, even on metal-rated coatings.
  • Hand wash when you can, even on dishwasher-safe pans, to keep the release going.

The best 8 inch ceramic fry pan: common questions

Is an 8-inch pan big enough?

For one or two eggs, a single small tortilla or toasting spices, yes. For an omelet for two or a full-size flour tortilla, a 10-inch pan from our ceramic nonstick guide is more practical.

Which 8-inch ceramic pans work on induction?

The Made In CeramiClad 2.0, Henckels Clad H3, Caraway Mini and GreenLife Essentials, according to their makers. The Zwilling Parma Plus and Blue Diamond do not; the GreenPan Chatham and Le Creuset listings do not say.

Is ceramic the best coating for an egg pan?

It is one good option. Ceramic gives easy release at moderate heat and is sold as free of PTFE and PFAS. PTFE pans often keep their release longer, and carbon steel or cast iron have no coating at all. Our guides to the best egg pan small and the best egg pan compare all three.

What is the difference between an 8-inch fry pan and a small skillet?

Mostly the name. Makers use “fry pan,” “frying pan” and “skillet” for the same sloped-sided pan. For small pans in other materials, see our guide to the best small frying pan.

How long does a small ceramic pan last?

None of the makers here gives a figure. Moderate heat, no aerosol sprays and soft tools are the care habits the makers name. If you would rather not replace a coating at all, see our guide to the best nonstick pan without teflon.

Our final pick for a small ceramic pan

For most kitchens on gas or electric, the GreenPan Chatham 8-inch is the small ceramic pan to buy. On induction, the Made In CeramiClad 2.0 is the premium choice and the GreenLife Essentials the low-cost one.
