How to Choose the Best 8 Inch Non Stick Frying Pan with Lid

Seven 8-inch nonstick frying pans with a lid in the box or the maker's matching lid, compared by coating, stove, oven limit and lid fit.

An 8-inch nonstick frying pan is the breakfast pan: one or two eggs, a single quesadilla, a spoonful of refried beans warmed for a plate of huevos rancheros. Add a lid and it does more. A cover sets the top of an egg without flipping it, steams a tortilla soft, melts cheese over chilaquiles and keeps the stove clean when chorizo spits.

The trouble is that few well-known makers sell an 8-inch nonstick pan with a lid in the same box. Most sell the pan and the lid separately. This guide covers both honestly: pans that come with a lid, and pans whose maker sells a matching 8-inch lid, with the lid named and linked so you know exactly what you are buying.

Quick verdict: which small lidded nonstick pan to buy

For most kitchens, the best 8 inch non stick frying pan with lid is the GreenPan Valencia Pro 8-inch with GreenPan’s 8-inch glass lid: a ceramic pan that works on induction, from a line GreenPan says won America’s Test Kitchen’s ceramic rating in this size, with a lid GreenPan sells to fit it. If you want a conventional PTFE-type nonstick that browns well, choose the Le Creuset Toughened Nonstick PRO 8-inch with Le Creuset’s 8-inch glass lid. If you want the lid in the box, the Scanpan Classic 8 and 10.25-inch set with lids gives you two covered pans made in Denmark.

Below, five standout picks side by side, then all seven in detail, each with a clear note on whether the lid is included or sold separately.

Our picks for the best 8 inch non stick frying pan with lid

Seven pans made the list. Three come with a lid in the box, three are paired with the maker’s own 8-inch lid sold separately, and one is a lidded two-pan set. We kept to makers you can identify and to lids the maker says fit, rather than pairing a pan with an unrelated universal lid. Two picks are 8-inch versions of pans on our sibling pages, and we explain why each earns a place here.

1. GreenPan Valencia Pro 8-inch Frying Pan + 8-inch Glass Lid – Ceramic That Works on Induction

Best overallGreenPan Valencia Pro 8" Ceramic Nonstick Frying Pan Skillet

The Valencia Pro is GreenPan’s best-known line; our best nonstick pans guide recommends the 10-inch and our best nonstick pan with lid guide the 11-inch. We include the 8-inch here because GreenPan sells a lid that fits it, and because GreenPan’s listing says this line won America’s Test Kitchen’s best ceramic nonstick rating in the 8-inch and 11-inch sizes.

The pan is diamond-infused ceramic nonstick, which GreenPan says is free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium and safe for metal utensils, on a hard-anodized body with a magnetic base for induction. GreenPan rates the pan for the oven and broiler to 600°F and says it is dishwasher safe.

The lid is not in the box. Buy the GreenPan 8-inch glass lid with it: tempered glass, a stainless steel handle, dishwasher safe, and described by GreenPan as fitting any round fry pan of matching size, with GreenPan cookware recommended. The two listings disagree on the lid’s oven limit (425°F on the pan listing, 390°F on the lid’s own), so treat 390°F as the ceiling with the lid on.

Why we like it

  • Ceramic coating free of PFAS and PFOA, per GreenPan
  • Induction base; works on all stovetops
  • GreenPan sells a matching 8-inch glass lid
  • Pan and lid both dishwasher safe

Lid oven limit 390°F (lid listing; pan listing says 425°F)
Induction Yes
Pan oven-safe to 600°F, broiler safe
Dishwasher Yes, pan and lid
Warranty Not stated on listing

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who wants a ceramic egg pan that works on induction and a proper glass lid from the same maker.

Skip it if you want the lid in the same box; this is two purchases.

2. Le Creuset Toughened Nonstick PRO 8-inch Fry Pan + 8-inch Glass Lid – Browns Well, Lid Rated to 425°F

Best for browningLe Creuset Toughened Non-Stick PRO Fry Pan

Our best nonstick pans guide recommends the 10-inch Toughened Nonstick PRO; the 8-inch is here because Le Creuset makes an 8-inch glass lid that it says fits popular fry pan sizes, so you can build a proper lidded small pan from one maker.

The pan’s interior is textured, which Le Creuset says promotes browning and searing and still wipes clean. It is a conventional nonstick, triple-reinforced and, according to Le Creuset, four times stronger than before, on hard-anodized aluminum. Le Creuset rates it for all cooktops, for the oven to 500°F, for the dishwasher and for metal utensils, with a limited lifetime warranty.

Pair it with the Le Creuset Signature 8-inch glass lid, which has a stainless steel knob, is oven safe to 425°F and dishwasher safe, and carries a lifetime limited warranty. That is the highest lid rating on this page, useful for finishing a covered frittata in the oven.

Why we like it

  • Textured surface for browning, per Le Creuset
  • All cooktops, including induction
  • Pan oven safe to 500°F, lid to 425°F
  • Pan and lid both dishwasher safe

Key specifications

3. Scanpan Classic 8 and 10.25-inch Fry Pan Set with Lids – Two Covered Pans, Made in Denmark

Lids in the boxScanpan Classic Nonstick Fry Pan Skillet Set with Lids (8 & 10.25-inch)

This is the one premium option where the 8-inch pan’s lid comes in the box. The set pairs an 8-inch and a 10.25-inch Scanpan Classic fry pan, each with a tempered glass lid, so you also get a covered pan for two.

The coating is Scanpan’s Stratanium, which Scanpan describes as five layers in which hard particles and wave-like layers interlock to reinforce the nonstick, and as 50% more durable than its previous coating. It is PFOA- and PFOS-free and rated for metal, silicone, wood and nylon utensils. The squeeze-cast body is meant to prevent hot spots, and the pans are oven safe to 500°F; the listing says the glass lids are oven safe but does not give a temperature.

One important limit: Scanpan says this set is not compatible with induction cooktops. It works on gas, electric, ceramic, solid plate and halogen. The set is made in Denmark, dishwasher safe and covered by a lifetime warranty.

Why we like it

  • Glass lids included for both pans
  • Metal-utensil safe, per Scanpan
  • Oven safe to 500°F
  • Made in Denmark, lifetime warranty

4. IMUSA Talavera 8-inch Ceramic Fry Pan with Lid – Deep Sides for Saucy Breakfasts

Best deep panIMUSA 8 Inch Talavera Aluminum Black Ceramic Fry Pan with Woodlook Handle

This pan is aimed squarely at Mexican cooking: IMUSA’s listing names huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, enchiladas and quesadillas. The listing describes it as a deep sauté pan, which suits an 8-inch pan with a lid. Deeper sides hold salsa for a single serving of chilaquiles, and the glass lid, which has a helper handle, keeps the sauce from spattering while the cheese melts.

The body is aluminum with a black ceramic nonstick interior that IMUSA says is PFAS-free, and a cool-touch wood-look handle. The outside carries a Talavera-style pattern. The listing does not state the oven limit, whether it works on induction or whether it is dishwasher safe, so treat it as a stovetop pan for gas or electric and wash it by hand.

The listing also includes a California-style chemical disclosure that names several metals; IMUSA points to imusausa.com for details.

Why we like it

  • Glass lid with helper handle included
  • Deeper sides than a standard fry pan
  • Ceramic coating described as PFAS-free
  • Cool-touch handle, per IMUSA

Key specifications

Model IMU-24008

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who makes saucy Mexican breakfasts for one or two and wants the lid in the box at a modest cost.

  • Lid included
  • Deep shape holds sauce
  • Distinctive Talavera-style exterior

Cons

  • Oven, induction and dishwasher use not stated
  • Wood-look handle limits oven use
  • Thin specifications overall

5. CAROTE 8-inch Granite Skillet with Glass Lid – Lid and Induction for Little Money

Budget pickCAROTE Non Stick Frying Pan

CAROTE sells mainly through Amazon, and this 8-inch pan comes with a glass lid in the same box. The listing describes a die-cast body with a large magnetized base that works on gas, electric, ceramic, glass, halogen and induction hobs, and an extended bottom meant to heat quickly.

The coating is what CAROTE calls granite nonstick and describes as PFOA-free; the listing does not name the underlying chemistry, so we do not guess. The handle is Bakelite, attached without rivets, which leaves nothing inside the pan to scrub around. The listing gives no oven limit, and a Bakelite handle is a reason to keep this pan on the stovetop.

Instead of a timed warranty, CAROTE promises a refund or replacement if the pan arrives defective or damaged in shipping.

Why we like it

  • Glass lid included
  • Works on induction and all common hobs, per CAROTE
  • Rivet-free interior
  • Low cost

Key specifications

Model C00016-UAE
Coating “Granite” nonstick, PFOA-free (chemistry not named)
Lid Glass, included
Lid oven limit Not stated
Induction Yes
Pan oven-safe to Not stated
Dishwasher Not stated
Warranty Refund or replacement for defects or shipping damage

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who wants a covered egg pan for an induction or electric stove without spending much.

Skip it if you want a named coating and a long warranty; the GreenPan or Le Creuset pairings give you both.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Lid in the box
  • Induction compatible
  • Easy-clean, rivet-free interior

Cons

  • Coating chemistry not named
  • No oven rating given
  • No long-term warranty stated

6. SENSARTE 8-inch Nonstick Skillet with Glass Lid – A Named Swiss Coating

Best named coating on a budgetSENSARTE Nonstick Frying Pan Skillet with Lid

SENSARTE is another brand sold mainly through Amazon, and its 8-inch pan comes with a tempered glass lid. What sets it apart from other budget lidded pans is that the listing names the coating supplier: a Swiss ILAG granite nonstick, which SENSARTE says is SGS approved and PFOA-free.

The base is a magnetic stainless steel plate, so the pan works on all cooktops including induction, and the handle is a woodgrain Bakelite that stays cool while cooking, according to the listing. SENSARTE says the pan can be wiped clean with a paper towel or rinsed with water.

The oven limit is low: 302°F. That rules out finishing anything in a hot oven, but it is fine for a pan that lives on the stovetop. Dishwasher use and warranty terms are not stated.

Why we like it

  • Tempered glass lid included
  • Coating supplier named: Swiss ILAG
  • Induction compatible stainless base
  • Cool woodgrain handle, per SENSARTE

Key specifications

Model HU-XI-201
Coating Swiss ILAG granite nonstick, PFOA-free
Lid Tempered glass, included
Lid oven limit Not stated
Induction Yes
Pan oven-safe to 302°F
Dishwasher Not stated
Warranty Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits a budget buyer who wants to know who made the coating and needs induction.

Skip it if you want to use the pan in the oven; 302°F is the lowest rating here.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Lid included
  • Named coating supplier
  • Works on induction

Cons

  • Low oven limit
  • Warranty not stated

7. GreenPan Lima 8-inch Frying Pan + 8-inch Glass Lid – Ceramic for Gas and Electric

Best for gas and electricGreenPan Lima Hard Anodized 8" Frying Pan Skillet Nonstick

The Lima is GreenPan’s simpler hard-anodized line. It uses the same GreenPan 8-inch glass lid as our top pick, sold separately, so it is the alternative if you cook on gas or electric and do not need induction.

GreenPan describes the Thermolon ceramic coating as free of PFAS, PFOA, lead and cadmium, and says it does not release toxic fumes even if accidentally overheated. That is the maker’s own claim, but it reflects a real difference between ceramic and PTFE-type coatings. The body is hard-anodized, the handle is riveted stainless steel, and the pan is rated for the oven and broiler to 600°F. With the lid on, keep to the lid’s 390°F limit.

GreenPan states plainly that the Lima works on all cooktops except induction, and recommends hand washing to keep the nonstick working.

Why we like it

  • Ceramic coating free of PFAS, per GreenPan
  • Pan oven and broiler safe to 600°F
  • Same matching GreenPan 8-inch lid as our top pick
  • Riveted stainless handle

Key specifications

Model Pan CW0002858; lid CC001058-001
Coating Thermolon ceramic, PFAS-free
Lid Tempered glass, sold separately
Lid oven limit 390°F
Induction No
Pan oven-safe to 600°F, broiler safe
Dishwasher Hand wash recommended; lid dishwasher safe
Warranty Not stated on listing

Why we recommend it

It suits a gas or electric kitchen that wants GreenPan’s ceramic and lid without paying for induction.

Skip it if you have, or may later buy, an induction cooktop.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • High oven rating for the pan
  • Matching lid from the same maker
  • Stainless handle

Cons

  • Not for induction
  • Lid sold separately
  • Hand wash recommended

Lid in the box, or the maker’s lid on the side?

A lid in the box is simpler and usually cheaper, and three pans here come that way. The catch is that budget lidded pans tend to have thinner specifications: the CAROTE and IMUSA listings give no oven limit, and the SENSARTE pan stops at 302°F. The premium makers we looked at, GreenPan and Le Creuset, sell their 8-inch pans and lids separately, and the pairing gives you a better-documented pan and a lid with a stated oven rating.

If you already own an 8-inch nonstick pan, you may only need the lid. GreenPan’s 8-inch lid is sold as fitting any round fry pan or saucepan of matching size, and Le Creuset says its 8-inch glass lid fits popular fry pan sizes. Measure across the top rim of your pan before you buy.

Safe heat for small nonstick pans and glass lids

An 8-inch pan has little metal and heats very quickly, so the main risk is a dry pan left on a high burner. Chemours, which makes Teflon coatings, advises against preheating an empty nonstick pan on high heat; it recommends starting at lower heat with oil, butter or food already in the pan, and says the coating can begin to deteriorate if accidentally heated above about 660°F. Chemours also advises not to use nonstick cookware in an oven above 500°F and not to use it for broiling. The US Food and Drug Administration lists nonstick coatings on cookware as an authorized food-contact use of PFAS and states that studies show negligible amounts of PFAS in this coating can migrate to food.

Ceramic pans such as the GreenPan and IMUSA picks are made without PTFE, and GreenPan rates its pans much higher for the oven. The lid, though, has its own limit, often lower than the pan’s: 390°F for the GreenPan lid and 425°F for Le Creuset’s. Use the lower of the two whenever the lid goes in the oven, and let a hot glass lid cool before rinsing it.

How to choose an 8-inch nonstick pan with a lid

Check the real lid fit

Pans are measured across the rim. An 8-inch lid fits an 8-inch rim; it will not fit an 8.5-inch pan. Stick to the maker’s own lid, or measure.

Pick the coating

Conventional nonstick (Le Creuset, and the budget “granite” pans) releases eggs most easily. Ceramic (GreenPan, IMUSA) is made without PTFE but, according to America’s Test Kitchen, is less slick and less durable over time.

Match your stove

Induction needs a magnetic base. The GreenPan Valencia Pro, Le Creuset, CAROTE and SENSARTE pans state induction compatibility; the Scanpan Classic set and GreenPan Lima do not work on induction; IMUSA does not say.

Decide on oven use

If you finish small frittatas or melt cheese under cover in the oven, look at the Le Creuset pairing (pan 500°F, lid 425°F) or the GreenPan pans. Pans with Bakelite or wood-look handles are stovetop pans.

Think about depth

A standard fry pan has low flared walls for sliding out eggs. A deeper pan such as the IMUSA holds a ladle of salsa or beans under the lid.

How we chose these seven lidded pans

We searched Amazon for 8-inch nonstick pans sold with a lid, and for the 8-inch lids that well-known cookware makers sell separately, and checked every product with Amazon’s product data for stock, model and listed features. We kept only in-stock items from identifiable makers, and paired pans only with lids from the same maker, described as fitting. We limited mainly online brands to two. We read each maker’s specifications, Chemours’ guidance on nonstick coatings, the FDA’s page on PFAS in food-contact uses and America’s Test Kitchen’s ceramic and nonstick skillet reviews. Where a pan and lid listing disagreed, we used the lower figure. We did not test these pans ourselves.

We skipped pans already recommended on our sibling guides and noted the two 8-inch versions of sibling picks above. HexClad’s 8-inch pan with lid and Swiss Diamond’s 8-inch pan with lid were not reliably in stock when we checked, and All-Clad’s 8-inch stainless lid is listed for saucepans and sauté pans, not fry pans, so we did not pair it. Our small frying pan guide covers uncoated small pans, from cast iron to clad stainless.

Small lidded nonstick pan questions, answered

What is an 8-inch nonstick pan with a lid good for?

Eggs basted under cover, a single quesadilla with the cheese melted through, steaming a couple of tortillas, and reheating a single portion of rice or beans without drying it out.

Will any 8-inch lid fit an 8-inch frying pan?

Not always. Pans are sized by rim, and rims vary. The safest choice is the maker’s own lid; GreenPan and Le Creuset both sell 8-inch lids described as fitting fry pans of that size.

Can the lid go in the oven?

Usually, but at a lower temperature than the pan: 390°F for the GreenPan lid and 425°F for the Le Creuset lid. Scanpan says its lids are oven safe without giving a figure, and the budget pans do not say.

Is a ceramic or PTFE 8-inch pan better for eggs?

Conventional PTFE-type nonstick releases eggs most easily and lasts longer, according to America’s Test Kitchen. Ceramic avoids PTFE but needs a little butter or oil and gentler use.

How do I keep a small nonstick pan from overheating?

Never preheat it empty on high. Add fat or food first and use low to medium heat, as Chemours advises. A small pan reaches a high temperature very quickly.

Our final pick for a small covered nonstick pan

Buy the GreenPan Valencia Pro 8-inch with GreenPan’s lid if you want ceramic on any stove, the Le Creuset Toughened Nonstick PRO 8-inch with Le Creuset’s lid if you want browning and a lid that goes in a hot oven, and the Scanpan set if you want the lids in the box and cook on gas or electric.
