Grilling & Outdoor Cooking

Fit First: The Best Blackstone Griddle Accessories to Add

Blackstone's own add-ons sorted by griddle: cleaning, grease gates, breakfast tools and wind guards, and which models each one does not fit.

Two metal scrapers at work on a flat-top griddle.

A Blackstone comes with burners and a sheet of steel, and Blackstone sells a long catalog of add-ons to go with it. Some solve real problems: food going down the grease hole, wind stealing heat, rust after a wet winter. Others are filler. This guide keeps to Blackstone’s own parts, for owners who want a piece made by the same company as the griddle, and it says plainly which griddles each one suits, because a coated camp griddle and a 36-inch steel top need different things.

If you want cross-brand tools such as spatulas, scrapers and bottles, our guide to outdoor griddle accessories covers those. This page starts where that one stops, with the first-party extras, and its details come from Blackstone’s listings, its site and its care guide.

Quick verdict: which Blackstone add-on to buy first

Start with the Blackstone 8-Piece Griddle Cleaning Kit, because a clean, oiled top matters more than any gadget. If your griddle drains from the rear, add the Rear Grease Gate and Tool Holder Combo. For cooking, the Griddle Breakfast Kit gives you the most new things to make, and the 14-inch Griddle Tongs are the single tool most starter sets leave out. Owners of coated camp griddles should go straight to the 6-Piece Camping Griddle Tool Kit.

The table compares those five, one for each kind of owner. All nine accessories are reviewed in full after it.

Our picks for the best Blackstone griddle accessories

These nine run from the jobs every owner faces, cleaning and grease, through to add-ons for one kind of griddle or one kind of cook. Each review names the griddles it suits and gives one honest reason to pass.

1. Blackstone 8-Piece Griddle Cleaning Kit – Scraper, Pads and Pumice Together

Best overallBlackstone® Griddle Cleaning Kit

Cleanup decides how long a griddle top lasts, which is why a cleaning kit sits ahead of anything that cooks. A flat top that is scraped and oiled after every session stays black and slick. One that gets put away dirty rusts and sticks, and no spatula fixes that.

This kit names six of its eight pieces on the listing: one stainless steel griddle scraper with a heat-resistant plastic handle, three scouring pads and two pumice stones with handles. The listing mentions two further cleaning tools without describing them, so do not count on a specific item there.

Blackstone’s care guide lays out the daily routine these tools serve. Scrape gently and wipe with a paper towel after each use, and for tough residue pour hot water on the griddle and let it boil the residue off. Blackstone says grease-cutting dish detergent will erase the seasoning, so the pads and pumice do the work soap would do in a pan. After a fajita night, with onions and marinade welded to the steel, that is the difference between a five-minute cleanup and a lost evening.

Why we like it

  • Stainless steel scraper with a heat-resistant plastic handle
  • Three scouring pads for stuck-on food
  • Two pumice stones with handles for heavier buildup
  • Covers daily and deep cleaning in one box

Key specifications

Model 5463
In the box 8 pieces: scraper, 3 pads, 2 pumice stones, 2 further tools (listing does not name them)
Material Stainless steel scraper, plastic handle; pads; pumice
Griddle fit Not stated; made for bare steel tops, see below
Size Not stated
Care Pads rinse clean (retailer description)
Warranty Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

Choose this first if you own a rolled-steel Blackstone and have only the scraper that came in a tool set, or no scraper at all. It covers the daily wipe and the heavier jobs without separate shopping.

Skip it if you own a coated griddle. Blackstone warns that its replacement scrub pads do not suit coated plates, including the camping series and E-Series, and this kit’s listing does not address them, so treat these pads and stones the same way.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Daily and deep cleaning in one kit
  • Stainless scraper included
  • Replacement pads sold separately

Cons

  • Two of the eight pieces are not described
  • Not a safe assumption for coated plates
  • Pads wear out and need replacing

2. Blackstone Rear Grease Gate and Tool Holder Combo – Stops Food at the Grease Hole

Best rear-grease upgradeBLACKSTONE® Rear Grease Gate

Anyone who has chased a strip of skirt steak toward the back of a rear-grease griddle knows the sound it makes going down the hole. This small stainless steel gate sits at that opening. According to Blackstone’s listing it keeps food from falling through while still letting grease run out.

You move the gate with whatever is already in your hand: the listing says a spatula, tongs or scraper can shift it into place by its guard tab, so you do not need to reach across a hot griddle. That matters most when you are working small food, such as diced peppers, chopped onions or shrimp, that likes to slide with the grease.

The other half of the combo is storage. Retailers list one grease gate, one tool holder and three magnetic side-shelf hooks in the pack, which gives your tongs and spatula somewhere to hang instead of lying on the steel and getting hot.

Why we like it

  • Stops food going down the rear grease hole
  • Grease still drains past it
  • Moves with a spatula, tongs or scraper by its tab
  • Adds a tool holder and three magnetic hooks

Key specifications

Model 5188
In the box Grease gate, tool holder, 3 magnetic hooks (per retailers)
Material Stainless steel
Griddle fit Griddles with rear grease management
Size Not stated
Care Not stated; lift the gate with a tool when hot
Warranty Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

This is the simplest kind of fix: a small part that removes one specific annoyance on a griddle you already own. It suits rear-grease owners who cook small, loose food often, and it tidies the tools at the same time.

Skip it if your griddle drains from the front, since this gate is sold for the rear opening. Check your side shelf holds a magnet too, and note that one retail buyer reports the bracket has room for only one spatula.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Solves a specific, common problem
  • Tool storage included
  • Operated with a tool, not your hand

Cons

  • Rear-grease griddles only
  • A buyer reports room for one spatula in the bracket
  • One retailer lists it as discontinued, though Amazon has stock

3. Blackstone Griddle Breakfast Kit – Batter, Bacon and Eggs Handled

Best for breakfastBlackstone 1543 Outdoor Griddle Breakfast Preparation Kit with Pancake Batter Dispenser

Breakfast is where a griddle earns its space, because everything cooks at once on one surface. This kit gathers the three tools that make that easier: a trigger-operated batter dispenser, a cast iron bacon press with a handle and two non-stick steel egg rings.

The dispenser holds four cups, according to Blackstone, and the trigger lets you lay out even pancakes without dripping across the steel between them. The rings corral eggs on a surface with no edge to stop them, and they work for small pancakes as well.

The press is the most useful piece for a Mexican kitchen. Blackstone describes it as pre-seasoned cast iron, sold for flattening bacon, and the listing also suggests paninis, sandwiches and burger patties. Its flat weight does the same job on a folded quesadilla, pressing the tortilla against the steel so the cheese melts before the outside scorches.

Why we like it

  • Dispenser holds four cups of batter
  • Pre-seasoned cast iron press with a handle
  • Two non-stick steel egg rings
  • One-year warranty on Blackstone’s site

Key specifications

Model 1543B
In the box Batter dispenser, bacon press, 2 egg rings
Material Cast iron press; non-stick steel rings; dispenser material not stated
Griddle fit Not limited to a model
Size 4-cup dispenser; 4-inch rings
Care Hand wash the press and rings
Warranty One year (Blackstone’s site)

Why we recommend it

Pick it if you feed a table on weekends and want one box instead of three purchases. The press alone justifies a place in the drawer for anyone who griddles bacon, tortas or quesadillas.

Skip it if you already own a griddle press, or if you want every tool dishwasher safe: the press and rings are hand wash. The listing also does not say what the coating on the rings is, so choose the silicone-handled kit below if you need more rings.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Three breakfast jobs in one kit
  • Press works well beyond bacon
  • Dispenser keeps pancakes even

Cons

  • Only two egg rings
  • Press and rings are hand wash
  • Ring coating is not stated

4. Blackstone 14-inch Griddle Tongs – Grip and Scrape With Flat Ends

Best single toolBlackstone 5228 Griddle Grill Tongs

Most griddle cooks start with spatulas and find out later how much they need tongs. A spatula lifts. It does not grab a skirt steak, separate a pile of onions or turn six shrimp without sending two across the steel.

These 14-inch tongs are stainless steel with heat-resistant rubber grips. The ends are flat, a design the listing compares to Korean barbecue tongs, so they can scrape as well as hold. That flat edge sits closer to the steel than a scalloped tip, which helps when you are getting under something thin.

They lock for storage and have a built-in hanging loop at the end of the lock, which pairs neatly with the magnetic hooks in the grease gate combo above. Blackstone’s listing rates them dishwasher safe and says they suit griddles, grills and ovens, so they are not tied to one cooker.

Why we like it

  • Stainless steel with heat-resistant rubber grips
  • Flat ends for gripping and scraping
  • Locks closed, with a hanging loop
  • Dishwasher safe, according to the listing

Key specifications

Model 5228
In the box One pair of tongs
Material Stainless steel, rubber grips
Griddle fit Griddles, grills and ovens
Size 14 inches
Care Dishwasher safe
Warranty Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

Buy these if your set has only spatulas. They are the one tool in this guide that gets used in every cook, from fajitas to bacon, and they cost you little space.

Skip it if you own a coated griddle and worry about scratches, since the steel ends are built to scrape. The listing is also inconsistent on color, calling them black and silver in one place and orange in others, so do not buy on color alone.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Useful in every cook
  • Flat edge gets under thin food
  • Locks for hanging storage

Cons

  • Steel ends are not for coated plates
  • Listing is inconsistent on color
  • Fourteen inches is shorter than some grill tongs

5. Blackstone 6-Piece Camping Griddle Tool Kit – Sized for Coated Camp Griddles

Best for camp griddlesBlackstone® Camping Griddle Tool Kit

Most griddle tools assume bare rolled steel. Blackstone’s camping griddles use a coated plate, and this kit is the first-party answer to that. The listing says it is compatible with Blackstone’s coated camp griddles to protect the cooking surface.

You get two spatulas, a pair of tongs, a scraper and two 8-ounce squeeze bottles, which covers everything a campsite breakfast or a tailgate of street tacos needs. The small bottles are a sensible size for a cooler: one for oil, one for water or a thin salsa.

The listing does not say what the tool heads are made of, so go by Blackstone’s stated compatibility rather than a material. Keep the pads and pumice from the cleaning kit at the top of this page away from a coated plate.

Why we like it

  • Named as compatible with Blackstone coated camp griddles
  • Two spatulas, tongs and a scraper
  • Two 8-ounce squeeze bottles
  • One-year limited warranty

Key specifications

Model 5984
In the box 2 spatulas, tongs, scraper, 2 squeeze bottles
Material Not stated
Griddle fit Blackstone coated camp griddles
Size 8 oz bottles; tool lengths not stated
Care Not stated
Warranty One-year limited

Why we recommend it

Choose it if you own a coated Blackstone camp griddle and do not want to guess which tools are safe for the plate. It is the one kit here built around that surface.

Skip it if you own a full-size steel griddle. The bottles and tools are aimed at camp cooking, and you would be better served by a long-handled kit such as the ones in our guide to outdoor griddle accessories.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Made for coated plates
  • Everything in one small kit
  • One-year limited warranty

Cons

  • Tool materials are not stated
  • Small bottles need refilling
  • Not aimed at large griddles

6. Blackstone 7-Piece Egg and Omelet Ring Kit – Round, Square and Omelet Shapes

Best for egg sandwichesBlackstone® Egg & Omelet Ring Kit

If the two rings in the breakfast kit are not enough, this set covers a full griddle of egg sandwiches. It holds seven rings: three round, three square and one large omelet ring, each with a heat-resistant handle.

Square rings are the useful addition. They give you an egg shaped for a square of toast or a bolillo cut flat, and the listing suggests the same rings for sausage patties, omelets, crab cakes, pancakes and hash browns. Lift by the handle and the ring comes away from the steel without a second tool.

The listing describes BPA-free silicone with a non-stick coating, and one retailer description of the same kit mentions stainless steel and silicone, so check the box if the material matters to you. Cleanup is straightforward: wash by hand with a little soap and water, or use the dishwasher, which Blackstone’s own page also confirms.

Why we like it

  • Three round, three square and one omelet ring
  • Heat-resistant handles
  • Dishwasher safe, according to Blackstone
  • One-year warranty on Blackstone’s site

Key specifications

Model 5515
In the box 7 rings: 3 round, 3 square, 1 omelet
Material BPA-free silicone with non-stick coating (listing)
Griddle fit Not limited to a model
Size Ring sizes not stated
Care Hand wash or dishwasher
Warranty One year (Blackstone’s site)

Why we recommend it

This suits households that build breakfast sandwiches or breakfast tacos in batches and want the eggs the same size. The omelet ring is a neat way to keep a filled omelet from spreading across the steel.

Skip it if you are happy to cook eggs free-form or only feed two people. Blackstone publishes no temperature rating for it, so keep the griddle at egg heat rather than searing heat.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Seven rings in two shapes plus an omelet ring
  • Handles lift them off the steel
  • Dishwasher safe

Cons

  • No temperature rating published
  • Ring sizes not stated
  • Sources differ on the exact materials

7. Blackstone Griddle Tool Caddy – Carries the Kit to the Cart

Best for organizingBlackstone® Griddle Tool Caddy - All Purpose Comact Design

Griddle cooking generates a lot of small things: bottles, seasoning, tongs, paper towels. This open caddy, 17.3 by 11.8 by 10 inches on the listing, gives them one place to live and one handle to carry them by, so the trip from kitchen to patio happens once.

Blackstone says it fits on the side shelf of a Blackstone griddle cart, and a divider on one side lets it slide on a narrow railing. The open top keeps everything visible while you cook, and the multiple compartments stop bottles falling against tools.

On taco night, that means the bottles, tongs and paper towels arrive together and stay off the cooking surface, which leaves the side shelf free for the tortillas and the fillings.

Why we like it

  • Fits a Blackstone cart side shelf
  • Slides on a narrow railing using its divider
  • Center handle for carrying
  • Several compartments for bottles and tools

Key specifications

Model 5556
In the box One caddy
Material Not stated
Griddle fit Side shelf of Blackstone griddle carts
Size 17.3 x 11.8 x 10 inches
Care Not stated
Warranty Listing mentions a manufacturing warranty, term not stated

Why we recommend it

Pick it if your griddle lives on a patio some way from the kitchen, or if your side shelf is always a mess of bottles. It is a small comfort rather than a cooking tool, and it works best for regular griddle cooks.

Skip it if your griddle has its own cabinet or you keep tools on hooks. We also could not find a Blackstone product page for it, so the fit and construction details here rest on the Amazon listing alone.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Carries everything in one trip
  • Keeps bottles upright
  • Made for Blackstone carts

Cons

  • Material is not stated
  • Takes side shelf space
  • Warranty term is not stated

8. Blackstone 36-inch Griddle Wind Guards – Shields the Firebox on Windy Days

Best for windy patiosBLACKSTONE 5015 Griddle Wind Guards for 36 Inch Griddle Front and Rear Grease Model Premium Grill Accessories Heavy Duty Easy to Use and Clean Black Wind Screen for Outdoor Backyard BBQ Cooking Black

A griddle runs on a line of open burners, and wind pushes that heat around. Blackstone sells these four panels to help deflect wind from the firebox. They hook over the edge of the griddle top, and you cook as normal. Two long pieces measure 17.68 by 3.5 inches and two short pieces measure 15.75 by 3.5 inches.

If you have seen one side of the griddle lag behind the other on a breezy evening, this is the accessory aimed at that. The panels also act as a low wall around the steel, though Blackstone sells them for wind, not splatter, so we would not count on that.

Fit is the catch. The listing says they work with front-grease and rear-grease 36-inch griddles, then rules out 36-inch units that come with a hood, naming models 1868, 1820 and 1899 among them. Retail buyers with hoods report the panels catching on the lid, which fits the warning.

Why we like it

  • Helps deflect wind from the firebox
  • Four-piece set hooks on with no tools
  • Works with front- and rear-grease 36-inch griddles

Key specifications

Model 5015
In the box 4 panels: 2 long, 2 short
Material Not stated
Griddle fit 36-inch griddles without a hood; not 1868, 1820 or 1899
Size 17.68 x 3.5 in. and 15.75 x 3.5 in.
Care Described as easy to clean
Warranty Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

Choose these if your griddle stands somewhere open and you own a hoodless 36-inch model. They address a real problem for that owner and do nothing for anyone else.

Skip it if your griddle has a hood, or is not a 36-inch model. If your griddle sits in a sheltered corner, you will not notice the difference either.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Simple hook-on fit
  • Fits front- and rear-grease models
  • Four panels for all sides

Cons

  • Not for griddles with a hood
  • 36-inch griddles only
  • One retailer lists it as discontinued, though Amazon has stock

9. Blackstone Griddle Top Restoration Kit – A Way Back From Surface Rust

Best for rustBLACKSTONE® Griddle Top Restoration Kit for Rust & Residue Removal

This is the kit for the griddle that spent a wet winter uncovered. It holds 8 ounces of griddle top restorer and two heavy-duty scrub pads, and the listing says the formula tackles surface rust, grease and grime and breaks up built-up residue.

Blackstone lists it for the griddle plate, side shelves, cookware and cooking tools. Two warnings matter. It must not go on a hot griddle surface, and it is not compatible with E-Series or camping griddle units. Retail listings describe it as a five-step process with instructions in the packaging, so follow those rather than a guide found online.

Treat it as a second option, not the first. Blackstone’s own care guide says to rub surface rust off with steel wool or low-grain sandpaper and re-season, and at least one griddle writer tells readers to use a pumice stone instead of buying this kit. It is a fair choice if you want a boxed process. Either way, the griddle needs seasoning afterward, and our guide to griddle seasoning covers that.

Why we like it

  • 8 ounces of restorer plus two scrub pads
  • Lists surface rust, grease and residue as targets
  • Also suits side shelves, cookware and tools, per the listing

Key specifications

Model 4165 (Blackstone’s site shows 4172)
In the box 8 oz restorer, 2 scrub pads
Material Ingredients not stated on the listing
Griddle fit Steel griddles; not E-Series or camping units
Size 8 oz bottle
Care Use on a cool griddle; follow the packaging
Warranty Not stated on the listing

Why we recommend it

Pick it if rust has already appeared and you want a set process in one box. Pair it with a proper re-season, and keep the griddle covered and dry afterward so you never need a second bottle.

Skip it if your griddle only looks dull, since Blackstone says that is normal while seasoning builds, or if you own a coated E-Series or camping griddle. A pumice stone from the cleaning kit above may be all a light patch of rust needs.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Boxed process for rusty tops
  • Works on shelves and tools too
  • Pads included

Cons

  • Not for E-Series or camping griddles
  • Ingredients not listed
  • Blackstone’s guide offers a cheaper route

How to choose add-ons for your Blackstone

Four questions sort out most of this catalog, and the first one rules out the most purchases.

1. Is your griddle bare steel or coated?

Blackstone’s full-size griddles are seasoned steel. Its camping series and E-Series use coated plates, and Blackstone says its scrub pads and restoration kit are not for them. Before you buy anything abrasive or metal-edged, find out which you own.

2. Does it drain from the front or the rear?

The grease gate is sold for rear-grease griddles only, while the wind guards work with both front- and rear-grease 36-inch griddles. Look at your griddle rather than guessing.

3. Hood or no hood, and what size?

Size and hood are where fit usually goes wrong. Blackstone rules the wind guards out for hooded 36-inch units, and the fit changes by griddle size, so note your model number from the griddle’s rating label before you order.

4. Tool gap, or extra kit?

Look in your drawer first. If you bought a griddle with a tool set, you may only need the tongs and the cleaning kit. If you have nothing, a full set from our accessories guide does more for you than any single piece here. Cover and seasoning belong on the list too: Blackstone strongly recommends keeping the griddle covered outside, and our guides to a griddle cover and griddle seasoning deal with both.

Tending an outdoor grill under an awning.

Caring for a steel top between cooks

Blackstone’s care guide is short, and most of it comes down to keeping the steel dry and oiled. New griddles get one hot, soapy wash, and Blackstone says that is the only time soap should touch the top. After that, scrape gently, wipe with a paper towel, and use hot water or a quarter cup of table salt for tough spots.

Seasoning is ongoing. Blackstone recommends oils including olive, vegetable, canola, coconut and sesame, and warns that humid or coastal climates may need more frequent seasoning. A Houston patio counts. Spread a thin coat after cleaning, dry the griddle completely and cover it.

How we picked these nine Blackstone accessories

We limited this list to Blackstone-branded products sold on Amazon in the United States and in stock when we checked, then worked out what each one does for a working griddle: cleaning, grease control, tool handling, breakfast and wind. Details come from Amazon listings, Blackstone’s site and its care guide; where we relied on a retailer’s page we say so. We have not cooked with these products ourselves, and where we report a buyer’s experience, it is theirs.

We left out items already reviewed in our griddle guides, including Blackstone’s covers, domes, seasoning, spatulas and burger press. We also dropped the Essential Griddle Accessory Toolkit because stock was low when we checked. We did not find any CPSC recall under Blackstone’s name when we searched the agency’s recall database.

Blackstone griddle accessory questions, answered

What accessories do you need for a Blackstone griddle?

A long spatula, a scraper, squeeze bottles for oil and water, tongs and a cover. After that, cleaning supplies matter more than cooking gadgets. Everything else on this page depends on how you cook and which griddle you own.

Is a Blackstone griddle accessories kit worth it?

Yes, if you are starting with nothing, since a kit is the quick way to get the basics. If you already have spatulas, single pieces are better value for your drawer space. Our outdoor griddle accessories guide compares kits from several makers.

Do Blackstone accessories fit every Blackstone griddle?

No. The wind guards are for 36-inch griddles without a hood, the grease gate is for rear-grease griddles, and the restoration kit is not for E-Series or camping griddles. Check the model number against the listing.

Can you use metal tools on a Blackstone griddle?

On a seasoned steel top, yes: Blackstone’s own care guide calls for scraping with a spatula. On coated plates, use tools Blackstone names as compatible, such as the camping tool kit.

How do you remove rust from a Blackstone griddle?

Blackstone’s guide says to rub it off with steel wool or low-grain sandpaper, then re-season the top. The restoration kit is a boxed alternative for steel griddles. Either way, dry the griddle fully and keep it covered afterward.

Our last word on Blackstone add-ons
