Cream, Spray or Kit? The Best Glass Cooktop Cleaner

The best glass cooktop cleaner for burnt-on food and daily grease: eight creams, sprays and kits, with each maker's directions for smooth tops.

A smooth black cooktop set into a dark counter.

A glass cooktop looks wonderful for about one meal. After that, a boil-over bakes on, a greasy film spreads from the skillet, and any sugar or starch turns into a dark ring that a sponge will not shift. Consumer Reports makes the same point: dish soap and a sponge may not remove baked-on food, so a dedicated cooktop cleaner can help.

The cleaners sort into three groups. Creams and pastes do the deep work, sprays handle the daily film, and kits add pads or a scraper for what a cream alone will not lift. This guide names eight, for glass, ceramic and induction tops, and gives each maker’s directions so you do not scratch what you are trying to clean.

Quick verdict: which glass cooktop cleaner to buy

For most kitchens, the best glass cooktop cleaner is the Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaning Kit: GE’s own range manuals name Cerama Bryte, and the kit gives you cream, pads and a scraper in one box. Choose Weiman Heavy Duty Cooktop Cleaner with scrubbing pads if you do not want a scraper. Add Weiman Daily Cooktop Cleaner for the film left after ordinary cooking; it is the cleaner named in Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Cleaning Awards.

Whatever you buy, read your range manual first. It has the last word on scrapers, and always let the cooktop cool before you start.

Our picks for the best glass cooktop cleaner

We start with the deep cleaners, then the daily spray, then a polish and two brand-specific options. Razor scrapers appear only as part of a cleaner kit. Each section gives the maker’s directions and limits.

1. Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaning Kit – Cream, Pads and Scraper Together

Best overallCerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaning Kit

Cerama Bryte is the name you meet in the manuals. GE’s owner’s manuals for its glass-top ranges give Cerama Bryte by name in their cleaning steps: shake the cream, put a few drops directly on the cooktop, clean with a paper towel or Cerama Bryte pad, and remove the residue with a dry cloth, no rinse needed.

This kit includes a 10-ounce bottle, a Pow-R Grip pad tool, a scraper and three cleaning pads. The listing calls the cleaner heavy-duty and non-abrasive, and names glass, ceramic, induction, radiant and halogen smooth tops, with brands including GE, Electrolux, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Maytag and Viking. It says the cleaner has no phosphates, dimethicone or silicone and is made in the USA.

For burned-on residue, GE’s manuals say to let the cooktop cool, put drops of cleaner over the soil, and scrub with the pad, using the scraper first if the buildup is heavy, at about a 45-degree angle. They warn against a dull or nicked blade and against heating the cooktop until it is fully clean. Bosch gives a shallower angle for its own tops, so follow your own manual.

Why we like it

  • Named in GE’s range manuals
  • All-in-one kit
  • Non-abrasive, per the listing
  • Wide list of smooth-top types and brands

2. Weiman Heavy Duty Glass & Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner with Scrubbing Pads – Micro-Bead Cream and Pads

Best without a scraperWeiman Heavy Duty Glass & Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner

If the idea of a razor on glass makes you nervous, start here. This is Weiman’s heavy-duty cream with three scrubbing pads, and the listing says the micro-bead formula boosts cleaning power on burned-on food, grease and grime without scratching. Consumer Reports lists a Weiman paste and a Weiman kit among the cooktop cleaners it names, with the final ranking kept for members.

Weiman says to let the surface cool, shake well, apply to the cooktop, clean with a Weiman pad or paper towel, and buff with a paper towel to shine. It names glass, ceramic and induction smooth tops, and major makers including GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire and Thermador.

It is not for everything. Weiman says the cream is not designed for stainless steel or granite and natural stone, and to wash any food-contact surface with soap and water after using it on one, such as a glass oven window. It also says the cream does not fix existing scratches, and to ask the cooktop’s maker about those.

Why we like it

  • No razor involved
  • Pads included
  • Micro-bead cream, per Weiman
  • Works on induction tops, per Weiman

Key specifications

Model Not stated

Why we recommend it

Choose it for a cooktop with burnt rings, if you would rather scrub with a pad than use a blade.

Skip it if your burn marks are thick and old enough to need a scraper, or you want stainless burners cleaned too.

Pros and cons

  • Well-known cooktop cleaning brand

Cons

  • Takes elbow grease on old stains
  • Not for stainless or stone

3. Weiman Daily Cooktop Cleaner & Degreaser, 2 Pack with Cloth – Quick Grease Removal After Cooking

Best daily sprayWeiman Daily Cooktop Cleaner & Degreaser

TODAY’s report on Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Cleaning Awards names the Weiman Cook Top Daily 3-in-1 Cleaner, and says it removes grease from stovetops with streak-free results. This is that daily line, in a two-pack of 22-ounce sprays with a microfiber cloth. The listing and Weiman’s page both state the 2026 award.

It is a different job from the cream. Weiman says to let the surface cool, test a hidden spot, shake, spray directly, clean with a Weiman pad or paper towel, and buff. It is made for after-dinner grease, not hard burns, and Weiman points you to its heavy-duty cream for those.

The limits are specific. Weiman lists stovetops, microwaves, glass, glazed porcelain, glazed ceramic and enameled surfaces. It says the spray is not for stainless steel, granite or natural stone, cookware or food-contact surfaces, and it is not for repairing scratches. The listing says the degreaser contains sodium hydroxide, so read the label and follow it.

Why we like it

  • Named in Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Cleaning Awards, per TODAY
  • Two bottles and a cloth
  • No rinse, per the listing
  • Good for a nightly wipe

4. Bar Keepers Friend Cooktop Cleaner, 2 x 13 oz, with Scraper – Liquid Cream for Glossy Surfaces

Best citric formulaBar Keepers Friend Cooktop Cleaner (2 x13 oz) + Scraper - Multipurpose Liquid Stovetop Cleanser

Bar Keepers Friend is better known for its powder, but this is a separate liquid cream for glossy surfaces. A sibling listing and the maker describe a citric acid-based formula for induction, glass and ceramic tops. Consumer Reports names Bar Keepers Friend among the cooktop cleaners on its list, and this pack adds a scraper to two 13-ounce bottles.

The listing’s method is different from the no-rinse creams: spread the cleaner across a wet stove top with a damp sponge, leave it for one minute, wipe with a cloth and dry. A retail label also says to rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. Use a soft cloth to buff.

It covers more surfaces than most cooktop creams. The listing names glass and ceramic cooking surfaces, copper, brass, chrome, stainless steel and porcelain. A retail label warns against gold, silver and stone, and flags it as an eye irritant, so keep it away from your face and follow the bottle.

Why we like it

  • Named on Consumer Reports’ list
  • Covers several surfaces
  • Citric-based, per the maker
  • Two bottles and a scraper

Key specifications

Model Not stated

  • No scrubbing pads needed, per the listing

Cons

  • Needs a wipe and rinse step
  • Eye irritant, per a retail label

5. HOPE’S Cooktop Cleaning Cream – No-Rinse Cream for Burnt Stains

Best acid-free creamHOPE'S Cooktop Cleaning Cream

Hope’s makes a compact cream for burnt-on stains on glass ceramic tops. The listing describes a unique, acid-free formula that gently loosens burnt deposits, quickly dissolves grease and grime, and does not scratch.

The appeal is how little it asks. You work it in, then wipe away the excess with a dry towel and buff to a shine, with no water. Hope’s positions this cream for stubborn marks and its spray for daily grease.

We searched for an independent review of this cream and did not find one, so it rests on the listing and on the maker’s record with its stainless polish, which Food Network rated well. The bottle holds 10 ounces by net weight, or 8 fluid ounces, which is on the small side.

Why we like it

  • Acid-free, per Hope’s
  • No rinse
  • Non-scratching, per the listing
  • Simple one-product routine

6. Scotch-Brite Rejuvenating Glass Cooktop Polish – Water-Based Finishing Shine

Best polishScotch-Brite Scratch-Free Rejuvenating Glass Cooktop Polish

Not every cooktop needs another degreaser. This 12-ounce polish is what you use after the mess is gone. The listing says it is designed specifically for glass cooktops, cleans and polishes, is water based and phosphate-free, and leaves a brilliant shine.

Consumer Reports names Scotch-Brite on its cooktop list, though the visible page does not say whether that means this polish or the brand’s cooktop pads. Retail buyers report good results with some extra effort on a dirty surface, which matches how a polish works: it is a finishing step, so clean burnt food off first.

One retail listing says it is for use on glass cooktops only. Keep it there, and follow the label. Pair it with a soft cloth rather than anything that might scratch.

Why we like it

  • Made for glass cooktops
  • Water based and phosphate-free, per the listing
  • From 3M’s Scotch-Brite line
  • Good final step

Key specifications

7. Bosch Glass Cooktop Cleaner, 2 x 12 oz Tubs – The Appliance Maker’s Own Cleaner

Best for Bosch ownersBosch 12010030 Glass Cooktop Cleaner For Electric & Induction Cooktops Set of Two 12-ounce tubs

Bosch sells its own cleaner, and its owner-support page recommends it by name, saying it removes burnt-on food and greasy residue while leaving a shine. The listing describes a genuine part, 12010030, in two 12-ounce tubs for electric and induction cooktops.

Bosch’s method is simple: let the cooktop cool, apply the cleaner with a soft cloth, then wipe with a damp cloth. For dried-on or sticky food, it says to scrape first with a glass scraper held at a shallow angle of about 20 to 30 degrees, and warns that a steeper angle may scratch the glass.

We searched for an independent review and found only buyer comments, which are mostly positive but note that tough stains can need a second application. Buy it because it is the maker’s own product for your cooktop, not because a reviewer ranked it.

Why we like it

  • Recommended by Bosch for its cooktops
  • Two tubs
  • Cleans, degreases and conditions, per the listing
  • Clear maker directions

Key specifications

  • Tough stains may take a second go, per buyers
  • No independent review found

8. Frigidaire ReadyClean Cooktop Cleaning Kit – Cleaner, Pads and Mini Scraper

Best appliance-brand kitFrigidaire® ReadyClean™ Cooktop Cleaning Kit

Frigidaire’s ReadyClean kit is the appliance-maker version of the Cerama Bryte idea: cleaner, scrubbing pads and a mini scraper together. The listing says the kit is made for burnt-on residue, smudges, grease and oil, and that it suits all appliance brands with ceramic and glass cooktops, induction tops included.

Frigidaire describes the cleaner as plant-based and calls it gentle. The scraper is the mini kind, meant for heavy, burnt-on soil, so read your manual before you use a blade on glass. The listing’s one clear limit is direct: do not use on stainless steel cooktops.

We searched for an independent review and found none, so this rests on Frigidaire’s name and its listing. The size field on the listing is unclear, showing 1 fluid ounce in a pack of 12, so check what the kit contains before you order.

Why we like it

  • From a major appliance maker
  • Cleaner, pads and scraper in one kit
  • Not tied to one brand of cooktop
  • Clear warning on stainless tops

Key specifications

Model 10FFCTKT01
Form Cleaner kit
Size Unclear on the listing
Main job Burnt-on residue and grease
Surfaces named Ceramic, glass and induction cooktops

Why we recommend it

A sensible choice if you like buying from the appliance maker and want a complete kit.

Skip it if you want a named review, or a clear statement of how much cleaner is in the box.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Complete kit
  • Works across cooktop brands, per Frigidaire
  • Sold by Amazon on the listing we checked

Cons

  • Unclear size on the listing

How to choose a cooktop cleaner for a smooth top

Match it to the mess. Grease film needs a daily spray. Burnt-on food needs a cream and a pad, and sometimes a scraper. Starchy pasta water is usually the easy one: Consumer Reports found those stains took little effort, while baked-on sauce and syrup took more.

Check your cooktop’s material. Glass, ceramic and induction tops are usually covered, but stainless burners and trim are not. Weiman’s cooktop creams and Frigidaire’s kit both rule out stainless, while Bar Keepers Friend’s cleaner includes it.

Be careful with scrapers. Only use one if your manual allows it. GE’s manuals give about 45 degrees, and Bosch gives 20 to 30 degrees and warns that a steeper angle can scratch. Never use a dull or nicked blade.

Let the top cool. Weiman, Bosch and GE all say so.

Decide about rinsing. Creams such as Cerama Bryte, Hope’s and Weiman finish with a dry wipe, while Bar Keepers Friend ends with water and Bosch with a damp cloth.

Look after the pans too. Lift pans rather than dragging them across the glass. If you are replacing yours, see the best pans for a glass top stove.

How we picked these eight cooktop cleaners

We started from Amazon’s current listings and kept only products in stock with a new offer from identifiable makers, then read the free part of Consumer Reports’ cooktop cleaner guide, TODAY’s report on Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Cleaning Awards, GE and Bosch owner material and Weiman’s own pages. Consumer Reports’ ranking is for members, so we only say which brands it lists. Affresh is on that list too, but we found no in-stock Amazon listing for its cooktop cleaner.

We left razor scrapers sold alone, general kitchen cleaners and thin marketplace kits off this page. Hope’s, Bosch and Frigidaire rest on maker details, and we say so under each. We checked the saferproducts.gov recall database by brand and found no recall of these cleaners, and we did not use any of them ourselves. Nothing here is a claim about health or safety beyond what a maker’s label says.

Cooktop cleaner questions, answered

What is the best way to remove burnt-on food from a glass cooktop?

Let it cool, apply a cooktop cream, scrub with a recommended pad, and use a scraper only if your manual allows it. GE’s manuals say not to heat the top again until it is fully clean.

Is a cooktop cleaner safe on induction?

Many are made for it. Weiman, Cerama Bryte, Frigidaire and Bosch all name induction tops. Your own manual has the final word.

Can I use a cooktop cleaner on stainless steel?

Usually not. Weiman points you to a dedicated stainless cleaner and Frigidaire says not to use its kit on stainless cooktops. Bar Keepers Friend’s cooktop cleaner does list stainless.

Why does my glass cooktop look cloudy after cleaning?

Residue is a common cause, so finish the way your cleaner’s directions say, whether that is a dry buff or a damp wipe. Scratches are different, and Weiman says its daily spray will not repair them.

Do I need a cooktop cleaner if I already have dish soap?

For daily splashes, soap may be enough. Consumer Reports says soap and a sponge may not remove baked-on food, which is what these products are for.

Our final pick for a clean smooth top

Buy the Cerama Bryte kit if you want one box for every stain, and add the Weiman daily spray if you cook most nights. Choose the Weiman cream if you would rather not use a blade.
