Clever or Just Compact? The Best Joseph Joseph Kitchen Tools

The best Joseph Joseph kitchen tools for small kitchens: what reviewers back, what leaked, and when a plainer tool is the better buy.

A woman and a girl preparing salad at a kitchen table.

Joseph Joseph sells cleverness. Things nest, fold, snap and stack, and in a small kitchen that can be a real help. The question to ask is whether a tool still does its main job well after the clever part. Reviewers often say yes, but not always, and on one product they flatly disagree.

This guide is for buyers who already like the brand and want to know which items are worth it. To compare it with OXO and others first, see our kitchen utensil set guide. We have not used these tools for this guide. Independent reviews cover only some of the range, so we name what we read and say where a pick rests on its listing.

Quick verdict: which Joseph Joseph tools to buy

Buy the Multi-Prep 4-Piece Salad Set if you have little storage, because Food Network backs it for that. The Twist Grater is good for small jobs. The Nest Lock containers save space but leaked badly in America’s Test Kitchen’s review, so don’t carry food in them. The others are sensible ideas without an independent record.

Our picks for the best Joseph Joseph kitchen tools

Eight different product types. All were sold new by Amazon with a plain in-stock status when we checked.

1. Joseph Joseph Multi-Prep 4-Piece Salad Set – Four Jobs in One Bowl

Best overallJoseph Joseph Multi-Prep 4-Piece Salad Making Set

This set shows the brand’s idea at its best: one bowl, and discs that swap in to spin salad, spiralize, slice and grate. Food Network, updated June 2026, makes it the Best Multi-Use pick in its salad spinner review, praising it as “Compact” and “Versatile.” Everything stacks inside the bowl, according to the listing, which also gives a non-slip base and a finger guard for slicing.

Food Network also gives two reasons to hesitate: “Small knob is more difficult to operate” and “Not dishwasher-safe.” The listing confirms hand washing and warns about sharp blades. A single-purpose spinner will spin more easily, and those are on our salad spinner guide. If you have little storage and would use all four functions, though, this makes sense.

Why we like it

  • Food Network’s Best Multi-Use pick
  • Spinner, slicer, grater and spiralizer
  • Accessories stack inside the bowl
  • Finger guard included

Key specifications

Model 20154
Type Salad spinner and cutter set
Material Not stated in the listing details we saw
Size or count 4 functions

Why we recommend it

It suits a small kitchen and a cook who makes salads and slaws and has no room for four separate tools.

Skip it if you mainly want to spin greens; a dedicated spinner with an easier handle will be better.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Direct, favorable review
  • Saves space
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Cons

  • Small knob, per Food Network
  • Hand wash only
  • Sharp blades to wash carefully

2. Joseph Joseph Twist Grater – A Handle That Changes Angle

Best for small gratingJoseph Joseph Twist Grater 2-in-1 Grater with Adjustable Handle

TechGearLab, updated March 2023, gives the Twist Grater a Top Pick award for a specific use. It likes the “Convenience of a rasp-style model” with support closer to a box grater, since the handle can swivel to a 90-degree angle for extra support. There are coarse and fine surfaces on one tool and a sheath that doubles as a catcher.

TechGearLab is also clear about the limits. It’s “Not a good size for lots of grating,” and it says, “it’s not the best at either task.” So think of it as a tool for a little cheese or a citrus zest over a bowl, not for a big pile of cheddar for enchiladas. For that, go to a proper box grater on our box grater guide.

Why we like it

  • TechGearLab Top Pick for a specific use
  • Coarse and fine blades
  • Sheath catches food
  • Dishwasher safe, per the listing

Key specifications

Model 20017
Type Handheld grater
Material Etched stainless steel blades
Size or count 2 grating surfaces
Care Dishwasher safe
Heat limit Not applicable
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits small kitchens and quick jobs, such as cheese over a bowl of beans.

Skip it if you grate large amounts; TechGearLab says it can’t keep up with bigger tools.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Direct review
  • Compact
  • Non-slip handle and feet

Cons

  • Too small for big jobs, per TechGearLab
  • Not the best at either blade, per the same review

3. Joseph Joseph Nest Lock 10-Piece Containers – Great Storage, Doubtful Seal

Best for cupboard spaceJoseph Joseph Nest Lock Airtight Leakproof Food Containers

No pick here shows more clearly why you should read reviews of this brand. TechGearLab, updated June 2023, gives its Nest Lock Plastic 10-Piece a Top Pick for nesting storage, noting that “the entire set can fit into its largest container.” It lists two weaknesses, “Prone to staining” and “Can retain food odors.”

America’s Test Kitchen, in December 2025, reaches the opposite verdict on the Nest Lock Plastic set, placing it in its not recommended group: “they were the most leaky containers we’ve seen.” It adds, “we don’t recommend transporting prepared foods in these containers.” The listing calls this set airtight and leakproof. We trust the people who shook them, so buy these only for shelf and fridge storage. ATK’s winner is the Rubbermaid Brilliance, and our food storage guide has other options.

Why we like it

  • Nests into its largest container, per TechGearLab
  • Lids snap together
  • Freezer and microwave safe, per the listing

Key specifications

Model 81127
Type Food storage set
Material Plastic, BPA free per the listing
Size or count 10 pieces
Care Dishwasher, top rack only
Heat limit Not stated in the listing details we saw
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits a crowded cupboard where containers rest flat in the fridge and never go in a bag.

Skip it if you carry soup, salsa or lunches anywhere; ATK found these leaked badly.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Very space-efficient
  • Color-coded bases
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Cons

  • Leaked badly for ATK
  • Stains and holds odors, per TechGearLab

4. Joseph Joseph Nest Utensils 5-Piece Set – Five Tools That Stack

Best utensil setJoseph Joseph Nest Utensils Compact Stacking Kitchen Tool Set with Magnetic Storage Stand Nylon

Magnets hold these five tools together in a small stand: a slotted spatula, spaghetti server, slotted spoon, solid spoon and ladle. The listing gives nylon heads, heat resistance to 392 degrees F and dishwasher-safe care. That heat limit is fine for most stovetop use, but keep the heads away from a hot pan rim.

We read no independent review of this set, and only retailer-side comments came up, which we don’t use. So it rests on the listing. We repeat the model here in a different listing from our gifts for cooks guide because utensils are what most buyers mean by this brand. For a full comparison with OXO and others, see our parent kitchen utensil set guide, and for heat-tolerant heads our silicone utensil set guide.

Why we like it

  • Magnetic handles stack compactly
  • Five everyday tools
  • Dishwasher safe, per the listing
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Key specifications

Model 10526
Type Stacking utensil set
Material Nylon heads
Size or count 5 tools and stand
Care Dishwasher safe
Heat limit 392 degrees F
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits a small kitchen where a crock of spoons has nowhere to go.

Skip it if you cook at high heat with tools resting in the pan; look at silicone or wood.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Saves counter space
  • Tidy storage
  • Good set of basic shapes

Cons

  • No independent review we could read
  • Nylon has a lower heat limit than some silicone

5. Joseph Joseph CleanForce Garlic Press – A Wiper for the Sticky Part

Easiest garlic cleanupJoseph Joseph CleanForce Manual Garlic Press and Mincer with Wiper

Cleaning a press is the usual complaint, and this one tackles it directly. The listing describes a trigger-operated wiper blade that removes crushed garlic, plus a small cleaning tool that stores in the handle for skin and trapped bits. It is dishwasher safe.

We read no independent review of the CleanForce. A different Joseph Joseph press has one: Food Network, in February 2026, names the Garlic Rocker its Best Rocking Garlic Press, “Useful for those with a weak grip,” though “Harder to avoid getting garlic on your hands.” That Rocker and other brands are on our garlic press guide. If you press garlic daily for salsas and marinades, compare the CleanForce with the Kuhn Rikon pick there.

Why we like it

  • Built-in wiper blade
  • Cleaning tool stores in the handle
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Key specifications

Model 20179
Type Garlic press
Material Not stated in the listing details we saw
Size or count One size
Care Dishwasher safe
Heat limit Not applicable
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who skips a press because cleaning it is annoying.

Skip it if you have weak hands; the rocker-style press may be better, going by Food Network.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Addresses a real annoyance
  • Simple to store
  • Easy-squeeze, per the listing

Cons

  • No independent review we could read
  • More parts than a basic press

6. Joseph Joseph Nest Measure Set – Cups and Spoons in One Stack

Best measuring setJoseph Joseph 98999 Nest Measure Measuring Cup Set

Eight measures, from 1 teaspoon up to 1 cup, snap together and stack in one small block. The listing gives both metric and US markings, and it’s dishwasher safe. For a drawer that loses its quarter-teaspoon every month, that is a practical idea.

We read no independent review, so it rests on a short listing, which gives no material or accuracy claim. The bowls’ shape and handle may not suit leveling flour as well as a straight-edged cup. For baking where accuracy matters, compare it with the picks on our dry measuring cup guide. For everyday cooking, where a teaspoon of cumin need not be exact, it should do fine.

Why we like it

  • Cups and spoons together
  • Snap-together handles
  • Metric and US markings
  • Dishwasher safe

Key specifications

Model 98999
Type Measuring set
Material Not stated in the listing details we saw
Size or count 8 pieces, 1 tsp to 1 cup
Care Dishwasher safe
Heat limit Not stated in the listing details we saw
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits small kitchens and anyone tired of hunting for one missing spoon.

Skip it if you bake by exact measure and want proven accuracy.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Compact
  • One set for dry and small amounts
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Cons

  • No independent review we could read
  • Sparse listing
  • Accuracy not stated

7. Joseph Joseph GoRound Can Opener – A Crank That Folds Flat

Best for tired wristsJoseph Joseph GoRound Easy-open Can Opener

The GoRound uses an ergonomic crank handle meant to reduce wrist strain, and it folds flat for a drawer. The listing says it removes the whole top of the can with a cutting wheel designed to reduce sharp or jagged edges. We see that as useful for a kitchen that opens many cans of tomatoes and beans.

It’s a recent model, and we read no independent review, so we can’t say how long the blade lasts. That’s what matters most in a can opener. Ask about the return terms if you are unsure. Our can opener guide has longer-established rivals that are better documented, and a cautious buyer should start there.

Why we like it

  • Crank designed to ease the wrist
  • Removes the whole top
  • Folds flat
  • BPA free, per the title

Key specifications

Model 1000064
Type Manual can opener
Material Stainless steel blade
Size or count One size
Care Not stated in the listing details we saw
Heat limit Not applicable
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits someone with sore wrists and a full utensil drawer, willing to try a less proven opener.

Skip it if you want a proven record; established openers on our guide have more of one.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Easy storage
  • Reduced sharp edges, per the listing
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Cons

  • No independent review we could read
  • Long-term durability unknown

8. Joseph Joseph Nest Boards Bamboo Set – Three Boards on a Stand

Best board setJoseph Joseph Nest™ Boards 3-Piece Bamboo Cutting Board Set

Three double-sided bamboo boards stand apart in a metal rack so that they can dry. Food icons help you keep raw meat, vegetables and cooked food separate, and steel tabs make each one easy to pull out. The listing gives sizes of about 11.4 by 7.9, 13 by 8.7 and 14.6 by 9.5 inches, and non-slip feet.

We read no independent review of this set, and The Kitchn’s reports on other Joseph Joseph boards would not open for us, so we don’t quote them. None of these boards are large, so a big brisket or a full batch of chiles wants more room. Our cutting board guide and plastic board guide cover those options.

Why we like it

  • Food icons to separate tasks
  • Stand holds boards apart to dry
  • Non-slip feet
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Key specifications

Model 60236
Type Cutting board set
Material Bamboo; metal stand
Size or count 3 boards, up to 14.6 x 9.5 in
Care Not stated in the listing details we saw
Heat limit Not applicable
Warranty Not stated in the listing details we saw

Why we recommend it

It suits a tidy counter and a cook who wants separate boards for raw and cooked food.

Skip it if you need a large work surface, or you prefer a soft wood board for your good knives.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Stores upright and dries well
  • Two surfaces on each
  • Easy to tell apart

Cons

  • No independent review we could read
  • Boards are modest in size

Where Joseph Joseph falls short, and who to look at instead

  • Clever storage can cost function. ATK found the Nest Lock lids insecure, and TechGearLab says the Twist Grater is “not the best at either task.” A plain tool may simply do the main job better.
  • Storage containers. For food that travels, ATK’s winner is the Rubbermaid Brilliance. See our food storage guide.
  • Serious grating. Large jobs want a box grater, and ours are on the box grater guide.
  • Single-job tools. Food Network says the Multi-Prep’s “small knob is more difficult to operate,” so a dedicated spinner is easier if you only spin greens. Our salad spinner guide covers OXO and others.
  • Depth of evidence. Reviews we could read directly cover the Multi-Prep, the Twist Grater, the Nest Lock set and the Garlic Rocker, which sits on another page. Several Kitchn reviews of this brand would not open for us, so we don’t cite them. That leaves five picks here on their listings.

How to choose among Joseph Joseph tools

1. Buy for a problem you actually have

A nesting tool pays off if your drawers are full. If you have space, you’re paying for a design you don’t need, and a plain tool from another maker may work as well.

2. Check the main job first

Ask whether it cuts, grates, seals or opens well, and only then look at how it stores. Where we have a review, we quote it. Where we don’t, treat the maker’s claims as just that.

3. Look at the care line

Care differs a lot across the range. The Multi-Prep is hand wash only, the Nest Lock is top rack only and the utensils are dishwasher safe. If you won’t hand wash, that rules some out.

4. Mind the heat limit on nylon

The Nest Utensils list 392 degrees F. That’s fine for most stovetop use, but don’t leave a tool resting on a hot comal or skillet. Our silicone utensil guide has options with more tolerance.

5. Think about small parts

Discs, cleaning tools and snap-together pieces can get lost. Keep them together, and check how replacement parts are sold before relying on a set for years. We did not check Joseph Joseph’s parts service.

How we chose these eight Joseph Joseph tools

We started from the Joseph Joseph listings the Amazon API returned on November 3, 2026, and kept items sold new with a plain in-stock status, sold by Amazon. We skipped scarce listings, such as the Duo and Totem ranges, and we avoided exact listings already on other pages here, which ruled out the Garlic Rocker and many organizers. One model repeats in another listing, the Nest Utensils, for the reason given in its section. We read Food Network’s salad spinner and garlic press reviews, TechGearLab’s grater and food storage reviews, and America’s Test Kitchen’s plastic storage review. Nothing here was tried by Julia’s.

Joseph Joseph questions, answered

Is Joseph Joseph good quality?

It depends on the tool. Food Network and TechGearLab give awards to specific pieces, while ATK places the Nest Lock plastic set in its not recommended group. Judge each item and not the brand.

Are Nest Lock containers leakproof?

The listing says airtight and leakproof, but ATK calls them “the most leaky containers we’ve seen.” We’d go with ATK and not use them to carry liquids.

Are Joseph Joseph utensils dishwasher safe?

The listing for the Nest Utensils says so. Not everything from the brand is: the Multi-Prep is hand wash only.

What is the best Joseph Joseph garlic press?

Food Network names the Garlic Rocker its best rocking press, and it’s on our garlic press guide. The CleanForce here is a squeeze press with a wiper for easier cleaning, but we read no review of it.

Has Joseph Joseph been recalled?

The CPSC recall database we searched on November 3, 2026 returned nothing under Joseph Joseph as a title or manufacturer. That is not a guarantee, so search cpsc.gov for your own item.

Our final pick from the Joseph Joseph range

If you have one tight cupboard and like salads, buy the Multi-Prep set. For everyday tools, look first at our kitchen utensil set guide and add the Nest Utensils only if the small stack matters to you. If the kitchen is closed tonight, call to order from Julia’s at (346) 546-8283.
