Silicone pot holders solve a problem that cloth ones have: a damp cotton pad can let steam and heat through quickly. A silicone face stays waterproof and grips a smooth handle, even a wet one. But silicone isn’t magic, and the numbers on the labels differ more than you’d expect, from 250°F to 500°F on this page alone.
So every pick here comes with its stated limit. If you want our broader look at holders in every material, including cloth and neoprene, start with the pot holders guide. This page is just for buyers who’ve already decided on silicone.

Quick verdict: which silicone pot holder to buy
For most kitchens, buy the KitchenAid Herringbone Ribbed Silicone Pot Holders: they’re rated to 500°F, water resistant, and generously sized at 7 by 10 inches. For heavy cast iron, Le Creuset’s all-silicone Handle Grips are rated to 482°F by the maker and go in the dishwasher. If you want a waterproof pinch grip with nothing to soak up water, choose TECHEF.

Our picks for the best silicone pot holders
1. KitchenAid Herringbone Ribbed Silicone Pot Holders, 2 Pack – 500°F, Terrycloth Lined

KitchenAid’s Evergreen Design Series pot holder has a molded, ribbed silicone face rated to 500°F and a thick terrycloth lining, and each one measures 7 by 10 inches. The ribs are there for grip on a smooth handle, and the listing also says it’s water resistant, which matters because a wet cloth is how a pot holder burns you. You get two, with vegan leather hanging loops.
Care is rinse and wipe, spot clean only, so it won’t go in the wash with the towels. That’s the main compromise. A KitchenAid ribbed pot holder in another pattern is already in our pot holders guide; this design is a different product, with a terrycloth lining and a longer body. It’s sold and shipped by Amazon, and it’s the easy all-round pick from a name with wide kitchenware distribution.
Why we like it
- Heat resistant to 500°F, per the listing.
- Water resistant silicone face.
- Terrycloth lining for comfort.
- Sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked.

Pros
- Clear heat limit
- Water resistant
- Larger than most
Cons
- Spot clean only
- Trivet use not stated
2. TECHEF Silicone Pot Holders and Pinch Grips, Set of 2 – All Silicone, Made in Korea

TECHEF’s holders are solid silicone pinch grips, not fabric with a silicone print, so there’s no cotton to soak up water or steam. The listing rates them to 500°F, gives them a textured surface for grip, and says they’re dishwasher safe and resist stains and odors. You pinch a handle or a sheet pan rim between the two halves, which leaves your fingers free to steer.
TECHEF is a Korean cookware brand that sells mainly online, so we count it as one of this page’s two online-first picks. The listing says these are made in Korea. The trade with any pinch grip is coverage: it protects your fingers and palm, not the back of your hand, so it isn’t the tool for reaching deep into a hot oven. It was sold by Amazon.com when we checked.
Why we like it
- Heat resistant to 500°F, per the listing.
- All silicone, nothing to soak up water.
- Dishwasher safe, per the listing.
- Sold by Amazon.com when we checked.

- All silicone

Cons
- Online-first brand

3. Le Creuset Silicone Handle Grips, Set of 2, 5 x 2.5 Inches, Cerise – All Silicone for Cast Iron

These are Le Creuset’s all-silicone handle grips, 100 percent silicone per the listing, and each one measures 5 by 2 1/2 inches. Le Creuset’s own product page rates them to 482°F. They slip over or wrap a handle to give you a sure grip, and the listing says they work on the stovetop or in the oven and go in the dishwasher.
Think of them as a cast iron and Dutch oven tool. The grip is small, so it protects the hand on the handle and little else, and a 482°F limit is a little under the 500°F most others here state. A black set of the same grips is already on our oven mitt alternatives page; we chose this Cerise listing because it’s a separate listing of the same product. It was sold by Amazon.com when we checked.
Why we like it
- Heat resistant to 482°F, per Le Creuset.
- 100 percent silicone, per the listing.
- Dishwasher safe, per the listing.
- Sold by Amazon.com when we checked.

Why we recommend it
This is for an enameled cast iron kitchen, where a sure hold on heavy loop and skillet handles matters most.
Skip it if you want broad coverage. A 7 by 9 inch holder protects more of your hand.
Pros and cons
Pros
- All silicone
- Dishwasher safe
- Trusted cookware name
Cons
- Small coverage
- Slightly lower stated limit
- Not a flat pad

4. Cuisinart Silicone Pot Holders, 2 Pack, 7 x 9 Inches – Hand Pocket, Doubles as a Trivet

Cuisinart’s pot holder is rated to 500°F and has a ribbed silicone grip on one side and a hand pocket on the other, which helps you lift and rotate cookware. It’s 7 by 9 inches, with a hanging loop, and the waterproof silicone wipes or rinses clean. For deeper cleaning, hand wash it and lay it flat to dry. The title says it doubles as a trivet.
The listing’s brand field reads Best Brands Consumer Products, so this appears to be a licensed product rather than one from Cuisinart’s own appliance line. It also says the materials are OEKO-TEX certified. On trivet use, remember America’s Test Kitchen’s warning that pot holders shouldn’t sit under very hot cookware, so we’d use it for warm dishes, not a pan straight from the oven.
Why we like it
- Heat resistant to 500°F, per the listing.
- Hand pocket for control.
- OEKO-TEX certified materials, per the listing.
- Sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked.

Skip it if you want to wash it with the laundry. It’s hand wash only.

Pros
- Secure pocket

- Clear care instructions
Cons
- Licensed brand
- Hand wash
- Trivet claim has limits
5. Lodge Square Silicone Pot Holder, 6 x 6 Inches – Dishwasher Safe, Note the Lower Limit

Here’s why a stated heat limit matters. Lodge’s square, solid silicone holder says it protects hands only to 250°F, which is far lower than the others on this page. It may be that Lodge rates hand protection differently from makers who quote what the material can survive, and we can’t compare those numbers directly. Either way, a 6-inch square isn’t what you want for a 450°F pizza stone.
What it does well is simplicity. It’s dishwasher safe, it can act as a jar opener or a spoon rest, and it hangs from a hook or sits in a drawer. It carries a limited lifetime warranty, per the listing. Think of it as the holder for a warm lid, a jar and a quick grab at the stove. Just one holder comes in this listing. A different Lodge holder in cloth and silicone is on our pot holders guide.
Why we like it
- Dishwasher safe, per the listing.
- Also a jar opener or spoon rest.
- Limited lifetime warranty, per the listing.
- Sold and shipped by Amazon when we checked.

Why we recommend it
This is for quick work at the stovetop, and for a cook who wants something that goes in the dishwasher.
Skip it if you bake at high heat. Lodge’s stated 250°F makes it the wrong tool for that.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Easiest to clean
- Handy jar opener
- Warranty stated
Cons
- Lowest stated limit here
- Small
- Sold as one
6. KitchenAid Ribbed Soft Silicone Pot Holders, 2 Pack, 7 x 9 Inches, Milkshake Tan – Silicone Face, Hand Pocket

This is KitchenAid’s plainer ribbed holder: a silicone face rated to 500°F, with a textured, ribbed stripe for grip, and a cotton back with a hand pocket lined in polyester. Each one measures 7 by 9 inches and has a hanging loop. The listing says the silicone side is water resistant, and care is a rinse and wipe.
The same holder in Matte Black is on our pot holders guide. We use the Milkshake Tan listing here because it’s a separate listing of the same product, and it’s the pocketed alternative to our Herringbone pick, which is longer and terry lined. It was sold by Amazon.com when we checked.
Why we like it
- Heat resistant to 500°F, per the listing.
- Water resistant silicone face.
- Hand pocket on the cotton side.
- Sold by Amazon.com when we checked.

Cons

7. RORECAY Silicone Pot Holders with Pocket, 2 Pack – Machine Washable Quilted Cotton

Rorecay is the second online-first brand on this page, and its holder earns the slot because it’s the one here that says it’s machine washable and states a limit. The listing rates it to 500°F, with food-grade silicone on the surface, a quilted organic cotton liner, a honeycomb texture for grip, and a pocket for your hand. There’s a hanging loop, and it can protect a countertop as a trivet.
The oval shape is meant to fit a variety of hot pots and pans. Some of the listing’s claims are enthusiastic, so stick to the concrete ones: the 500°F limit, the materials and the wash instructions. The listing doesn’t give dimensions in the text we read, so check the photos. It was sold by the Rorecay store when we checked. We didn’t read a review of this product.
Why we like it
- Heat resistant to 500°F, per the listing.
- Machine washable, per the listing.
- Pocket and hanging loop.
- Honeycomb silicone grip.

What a heat limit does and doesn’t tell you
America’s Test Kitchen’s pot holder review, last updated in December 2022, is helpful here. It says silicone will start to break down if it spends more than 30 seconds above 500 degrees, so a 500°F rating is a limit on material rather than a promise about your hand. It timed how long testers could hold a 350°F skillet, and that’s closer to real life: an OXO Good Grips silicone holder won its comparison, holding for 23 seconds.
It also found that holders thicker than 4.4 millimeters did well regardless of material, and it advises against using pot holders as trivets under very hot cookware. That’s worth remembering when a listing says it doubles as one. None of the holders below was in that comparison. The OXO winner is on our pot holders guide; we left it off here because the Amazon listing states no number, and retailers we saw gave conflicting ones.

How to choose a heat resistant pot holder
The stated limit
Compare numbers, but read what they mean. Lodge says it protects hands to 250°F, while others state 500°F or more without saying whether that’s hand protection or the material’s limit. Oven and grill work calls for a higher number and more care.
All silicone or silicone on cotton
Lodge, TECHEF and Le Creuset are solid silicone. Both KitchenAid picks, Cuisinart and Rorecay put a silicone face over fabric. Our reasoning: all silicone resists wet best and goes in the dishwasher, while a fabric back adds comfort and a pocket.
Pocket or flat
A pocket keeps the holder on your hand when you shift your grip. A flat pad is quicker to grab. Cuisinart, Rorecay and the KitchenAid Ribbed pair have pockets.
Size
Most pads run 7 by 9 inches, while TECHEF’s pinch grips and Le Creuset’s handle grips are much smaller. If you reach deep into an oven, a longer pad helps, but no pot holder protects your forearm. Our silicone oven mitts guide covers that job.
Care
Lodge, TECHEF and Le Creuset go in the dishwasher, Rorecay in the washing machine. Both KitchenAid pairs are rinse and wipe. Your laundry habits should decide this as much as the heat limit.

How we picked these silicone pot holders
We looked for pot holders with a silicone face or silicone treatment from identifiable makers, kept those in stock with a new lead offer, and required a stated heat limit on the listing. We skipped exact listings already used on our pot holder and oven mitt pages, and used at most two online-first brands.
We have not used these holders, and none was in the America’s Test Kitchen comparison, so the picks rest on listing details. Trudeau’s mini grips were in short supply when we checked. We dropped cotton holders with only a silicone print or coating, because they aren’t silicone pot holders in the sense this page promises. Two picks, Le Creuset’s grips and the KitchenAid Ribbed pair, are other-color listings of products already on our other pages.
Silicone pot holder questions, answered
How hot can silicone pot holders get?
It varies by maker. Here, both KitchenAid picks, TECHEF, Cuisinart and Rorecay state 500°F, and Le Creuset rates its handle grips to 482°F. Lodge says it protects hands to 250°F. America’s Test Kitchen says silicone starts to break down after 30 seconds above 500 degrees.
Are silicone pot holders better than cloth?
They stay waterproof, which is the main advantage over a damp cloth. America’s Test Kitchen’s top pick was silicone, but its runner-up was neoprene, and it found thickness mattered as much as material.
Can I use a silicone pot holder as a trivet?
Several listings say so, but America’s Test Kitchen advises against using pot holders under very hot cookware. For a hot pan on a counter, use a proper trivet.
Can silicone pot holders go in the dishwasher?
Lodge’s, TECHEF’s and Le Creuset’s can, per their listings. Rorecay says machine washable. Both KitchenAid pairs say rinse and wipe, so check each one.
Are silicone pot holders safe on the grill?
Be careful. None of these listings rates its holder for open flame, and a small grip leaves your wrist exposed over a grill. Our high-heat oven mitts guide is a better place to start.
Do I need two pot holders?
For a heavy Dutch oven, yes. Most picks here come in a pair; Lodge’s listing is one.
Our final pick for silicone pot holders
Hang the KitchenAid Herringbone pair by the stove and you’re covered for almost everything you’ll lift at home. When the pan comes out at high heat, move up to mitts from our oven mitts guide. And if tonight’s plan is to not touch a hot pan at all, call to order from Julia’s.
