Dry It at Home: The Best Air Fryer Dehydrator Toaster Oven

Seven toaster ovens that state a dehydrate function, compared by stated low temperature, space and evidence, with food safety advice for jerky.

A stand-alone dehydrator is a fine machine that does one thing and then lives in a closet. If you only make apple chips or a batch of jerky every so often, it’s reasonable to ask whether your toaster oven could do the job too. Plenty of them now claim they can, with a dehydrate button next to the air fryer setting.

The catch is that listings rarely say how low that setting runs, or how much you can fit. Every oven here states a dehydrate function. We note where a low temperature is stated, and where it isn’t. For air fryers without an oven body, see our guide to the best air fryer.

Quick verdict: the drying oven to buy first

The Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro is our best air fryer dehydrator toaster oven for most homes, because Breville names a Dehydrate preset, states the interior size and covers fruit, vegetables and meat in its guide. The Nuwave Bravo 30-Quart states the lowest temperature, at 50 degrees F. If you only want a plainly labeled option, the Toshiba ChefFry 26.4-Quart names the function in its title, but its stated range begins at 150 degrees F.

What dehydrate means on a toaster oven

Drying needs gentle heat and moving air for hours. A convection fan is what makes it possible at all in a small oven, and that’s why this feature shows up on air fryer models. Three things decide how well it works, and only some of them appear in listings.

How low it goes. The National Center for Home Food Preservation’s jerky directions call for a dehydrator or oven preheated to 140 degrees F. Stated low points on this page range from 50 degrees F on the Nuwave to 150 degrees F on the Toshiba, and several don’t say at all. A general range also might not describe the dehydrate mode, so read the manual.

How much flat space you have. Food has to sit in a single layer with air around it. An oven’s quart number doesn’t help much here. What counts is the number of racks or mesh baskets you’ll have, and most ovens come with few. Breville’s BOV900 listing, for comparison, says it can dry up to 4 trays at once, but only with enough baskets. We cover mesh baskets on our air fryer pan guide.

How long you’ll tie up the oven. Drying can take many hours, and in that time you can’t toast or bake. If you plan on regular large batches, a stand-alone machine still makes more sense. Our value food dehydrator guide and dehydrator for jerky guide cover those.

Food safety when drying meat

Fruit is forgiving; meat isn’t. The National Center for Home Food Preservation, based at the University of Georgia, says the internal temperature of jerky meat needs to reach 160 degrees F, and that for ground meat this is the temperature needed to eliminate harmful bacteria such as E. coli O157:H7 if present. Its directions dry strips in a dehydrator or oven preheated to 140 degrees F until a test piece cracks but does not break when bent.

It also gives an after-drying step: heat strips cut a quarter inch or thinner for about 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 275 degrees F, and longer for thicker ones. It says dried jerky keeps about two weeks at room temperature in a sealed container, and that the refrigerator or freezer is better for longer storage and better flavor. That page’s temperature is written for meat in general; follow your own recipe and the agency’s directions for poultry and game, and use a food thermometer. An oven’s preset doesn’t replace these steps.

Our picks for the best air fryer dehydrator toaster oven

We’ve ordered these by how clearly the maker describes the feature, how much is confirmed about the oven, and the evidence behind it. None of the reviews we read tested the dehydrate setting itself, and the picks below say so where it matters.

1. Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV950BST – A Dedicated Dehydrate Preset and an App

Best overallBreville BOV950BST Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro

Breville is the maker most direct about this feature. The listing says there’s no need for a stand-alone air fryer and dehydrator because this oven does both, with presets for each. Breville’s own guide to the Joule’s Dehydrate setting talks about “shelf-stable dried foods” and says you can “dehydrate all your favorite fruits, veggies, and meats.”

The interior is 16 by 13.5 by 7 inches, which matters here, because drying needs a single layer and plenty of space around each piece. The app sends progress updates, and a long drying job is exactly when that’s useful. Breville’s guide says a video covers the convection and time settings, but the written page doesn’t give a temperature range, and we could not read one from the manual, so check it for the numbers before you plan jerky.

America’s Test Kitchen ranks the non-connected Breville BOV900 its top air-fryer toaster oven, and notes that dehydrate is among its settings, though it doesn’t test that setting. This Joule version is a different model, so that verdict doesn’t transfer automatically. The stainless Joule is also on our combos guide; this black listing appears here because no other oven we found makes the dehydrator claim as clearly.

Why we like it

  • Named Air Fry and Dehydrate presets
  • Interior size stated
  • App progress updates during long runs
  • Breville’s guide covers fruit, vegetables and meat

Why we recommend it

It suits someone who plans to dry food regularly and wants a large oven the rest of the time too, and who likes app monitoring.

Skip it if you dry food in large batches every week; a stand-alone machine on our food dehydrator guide holds more trays.

2. Ninja French Door Premier FO101BK – Dehydrate in the Title, Doors That Open Together

Best French doorNinja French Door Premier Air Fry Oven

Dehydrate is listed in the title here and again among the ten functions: Air Fry, Air Roast, Whole Roast, Bake, Pizza, Broil, Reheat, Dehydrate, Toast and Bagel. The French doors open together with one hand, which makes it easier to check drying trays without reaching under a hot door.

The included 5-quart air fry basket holds up to 5 pounds of French fries, per the listing. That’s the only drying surface you can count on from what’s listed: the box contains one basket, one sheet pan, a broil rack and a wire rack. So you’d be drying in a single layer on the basket and wire rack, with space limits. Ninja says the cooking surfaces are made without PFAS.

The listing doesn’t give a dehydrate temperature, and neither did the Ninja product data page we could open, so check the manual. We did not read a test of its dehydrate setting. The FO101 also appears on our combos guide in another color; we keep it here because its title states the function.

Why we like it

  • Dehydrate stated in the title
  • Doors open with one hand
  • Basket, sheet pan and racks are dishwasher safe, per the listing
  • PFAS-free cooking surfaces, per Ninja

3. Nuwave Bravo 30-Quart 20802 – The Lowest Stated Temperature

Lowest stated temperatureNuwave Bravo 30 QT Smart Air Fryer Toaster Oven

Dehydrating happens at low temperatures, so a listing that states how low an oven goes is useful. This one states 50 to 500 degrees F in 5-degree steps, which comfortably includes the 140 degrees F that the National Center for Home Food Preservation names for jerky. Dehydrating is one of the 12 cooking functions listed.

It has four rack positions and a 30-quart size. The racks, baking pan and air fry basket come included, though you’d want to check how many flat surfaces you get. An integrated digital probe can end cooking at a set internal temperature, which is useful in other jobs. Top and bottom heaters are adjustable, which the maker promotes for pizza more than for drying.

There’s a real caveat. America’s Test Kitchen put the earlier Bravo XL 20801 in its not recommended group, though without saying anything about its dehydrate setting. We can’t tell you how close this model is to that one; the numbers sit next to each other, and the maker says the convection system is new. We read no independent test of this one.

Why we like it

  • 50 to 500 F in 5-degree steps
  • Dehydrating listed as a function
  • Probe included
  • Adjustable top and bottom heaters

Key specifications

Dehydrate stated as Function in the list
Lowest stated temperature 50 F
Capacity 30 qt; 4 rack positions
Other functions 12 functions; 100 recipe presets

Why we recommend it

It suits someone who wants a clear low temperature in the listing and who is happy to set things by hand.

Skip it if the America’s Test Kitchen verdict on the earlier model bothers you; choose the Breville.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Clear low temperature
  • Many positions
  • Fine adjustment

Cons

  • Earlier relative not recommended by America’s Test Kitchen
  • No independent test read of this model
  • Drying rack count not stated

4. Toshiba ChefFry 26.4-Quart TL-AC264CZA – Dehydrate Right in the Name

Clearest titleTOSHIBA ChefFry Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo

If you search this feature by name, this is what you hope to find: dehydrate appears right in the title. The listing lists 12 functions, including air fry, toast, bake, broil, pizza, proof and dehydrate. Toshiba calls the 26.4-quart interior large enough for 6 slices of toast, a 12-inch pizza or a 4-pound chicken.

One thing to weigh up is temperature. The listing states a range of 150 to 450 degrees F in 5-degree steps. That’s above the 140 degrees F that the National Center for Home Food Preservation names for jerky drying. Toshiba doesn’t say how its dehydrate mode runs, and it may run lower than the general range, so check the manual if you’re particular.

We read no independent review of this oven, so the pick rests on the listing. The interior is described as a non-stick coating, and the crumb tray is removable. A separate, larger Toshiba appears on our extra-large oven guide, and this one is smaller and lighter, at about 14.5 pounds in Amazon’s field.

Why we like it

  • Dehydrate stated in the title
  • Temperature adjusts in 5-degree steps
  • Lighter than most here
  • Removable crumb tray

Key specifications

Why we recommend it

It suits someone who wants a modest, plainly labeled combination oven and who will mainly dry fruit and vegetables.

Skip it if jerky is the goal and you want a stated 140 F; the listing gives 150 F as the general low point.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Clear about the feature
  • Easy to move
  • Fine temperature steps

Cons

  • Stated range starts at 150 F
  • No independent review read

5. Gourmia GTF7465 6-Slice French Door – A Low Start Point in a Smaller Oven

Best small French doorGourmia Toaster Oven - 6-Slice Capacity

This is one of the smaller ovens on the page, with French doors and a 6-slice capacity in the title. Dehydrate sits among the 19 functions along with Slow Cook and Keep Warm. The stated range of 90 to 450 degrees F starts low enough to include the temperatures that drying calls for.

It has top, center and bottom rack positions, and comes with an air fry basket, oven rack, baking pan and crumb tray. The listing describes them as designed for easy, dishwasher-safe cleaning. With only one basket and one rack included, you’d be limited to one or two layers unless you buy additional racks that fit, so look before you plan on large batches.

We read no independent review of this oven. It rests on the listing. On November 5, 2026, CPSC announced a Gourmia recall of its GTF7530 9-slice French door air fryer oven, because the doors can close unexpectedly when bumped and burn a hand reaching for hot food. This pick is the GTF7465, a different model number that is not on that recall. French doors have now been a recall concern for two makers, so it’s worth keeping up with notices for any oven you buy.

Why we like it

  • Stated range from 90 F
  • Dehydrate listed among 19 functions
  • French doors at a smaller size
  • Three rack positions

Key specifications

Model GTF7465
Dehydrate stated as Function in the list
Lowest stated temperature 90 F
Capacity 6 slices; volume not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits a small household that wants occasional fruit chips and doesn’t have room for a huge oven.

Skip it if you want to dry several trays at a time; the racks included limit you.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Low stated temperature
  • Compact relative to others
  • Many functions

Cons

  • No independent review read
  • Few racks included

6. Cuisinart TOA-65 Digital – A Long Warranty, With a Warning

Longest warrantyCuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven

Cuisinart says the TOA-65 has dedicated functions for dehydrating and proofing, along with air fry, bake, broil, toast, bagel, pizza, roast, low, dual cook and reheat. The 0.6-cubic-foot interior is stated to take 3 pounds of food in the air fryer, 6 bagel halves, a 4-pound chicken or a 12-inch pizza. It also states a limited 3-year warranty, the longest stated term we saw on this page.

Two cautions. First, the sibling TOA-60 did very badly at America’s Test Kitchen, which said it “struggled with just about every task” and placed it in its not recommended group. The TOA-60 lists no dehydrate setting and isn’t this model, so we can’t transfer that verdict directly, but we wouldn’t ignore it. Second, the offer we saw was sold by Beach Camera, a third party, so confirm warranty coverage with Cuisinart for that seller before you buy.

The listing describes it as nonstick and names no enameled food surface. We read no test of the TOA-65 itself, so what’s stated here comes from its listing.

Why we like it

  • Dedicated dehydrate function
  • Limited 3-year warranty stated
  • Oven light and large window
  • Low setting for slow cooking and braising

Key specifications

Model TOA-65ES
Dehydrate stated as Dedicated function
Lowest stated temperature Not stated
Capacity 0.6 cu ft; 12 in pizza; 4 lb chicken
Other functions 12 functions, including dual cook

Why we recommend it

It suits a buyer who cares most about warranty length, and who has read the note about its sibling.

Skip it if the TOA-60 result worries you; there are safer options higher on this page.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Long stated warranty
  • Feature plainly named
  • Known maker

Cons

  • Sibling model not recommended by America’s Test Kitchen
  • Third-party seller on the offer we saw
  • Low temperature not stated

7. TomaChef GD23CEA 26.5-Quart – The One That Gives a Drying Temperature

Amazon-first brandTomaChef Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo

TomaChef is an Amazon-first brand sold by its own storefront, so there’s little behind it beyond the listing. It earns a place for saying something the bigger names don’t: it tells you to “dehydrate fruit at 135°F,” and gives a range of 95 to 450 degrees F, adjustable in 10-degree steps. Dehydrate and Ferment are among the 11 one-touch presets.

That gives you a clearer place to begin for fruit, although 10-degree steps are coarser than the 5-degree steps others state. The 26.5-quart interior is said to fit a 12-inch pizza. A frying basket, wire rack, crumb tray and baking tray are included, which isn’t a lot of flat space for drying, so plan on small batches.

We read no independent review, and we found no recall under this name in the CPSC database when we searched. The PFAS-free claim comes from the seller’s listing only. We’d look at this last, once the established makers have been ruled out.

Why we like it

  • Gives a fruit-drying temperature
  • Range from 95 F
  • Dehydrate preset
  • Window for checking without opening

Key specifications

Model GD23CEA-1
Dehydrate stated as One-touch preset
Lowest stated temperature 95 F

Why we recommend it

It suits a buyer who wants a stated temperature to start from and accepts a thin brand.

Skip it if you want a known maker or a stated warranty; choose the Breville or Cuisinart.

Pros

  • Temperature guidance in the listing
  • Low range
  • Window

Cons

How to choose an oven for drying food

Look for a stated low temperature. It’s the first figure to look for and the one most listings leave out. If it’s not stated on a model you like, read the manual online before you buy.

Count the racks you’ll get. Almost all these ovens include one or two flat racks and an air fry basket. Extra mesh baskets may or may not be sold for your model, so check before you plan on large batches.

Think about the door. You’ll open it to rotate and check food. French doors like the Ninja and Gourmia make that simple. CPSC has recalled French door ovens from Oster and from Gourmia (the GTF7530) because doors could close unexpectedly, so whichever you buy, register it and keep up with notices.

Watch the fan. Light slices can blow around in a strong fan. If an oven has fan speeds, as the Nuwave does, a lower one may help. Rack clips or a mesh cover are worth considering for thin fruit, since none of these listings promises to prevent that.

Assorted dried fruit slices including kiwi and pear laid out on a pale surface
Assorted dried fruit slices on a pale surface.

Compare with a dehydrator honestly. A stand-alone unit gives you more trays and frees your oven. A combination oven takes up less storage space, since you already keep it on the counter. If you already own a good oven, check its manual first, since many air fryer ovens added this function without much fuss.

How we chose these seven ovens

We searched Amazon for in-stock air fryer toaster ovens from identifiable makers and kept only those that state a dehydrate function in their listing. Basket-style air fryers were left out because they aren’t toaster ovens. Each lead offer was new when we checked. We skipped any exact listing already on another guide on this site, and allowed two models that appear elsewhere in another color: the Breville Joule and the Ninja FO101, each because its dehydrate wording is clear. We read America’s Test Kitchen’s 2026 review of these ovens, Breville’s dehydrate pages, and the National Center for Home Food Preservation’s jerky directions. We checked the CPSC recall database by brand. We have not used these products ourselves, and we list no prices because they change.

Questions about drying food in a toaster oven

Can a toaster oven really dehydrate food?

A convection oven with a low enough setting can dry food, and these listings state that function. We didn’t find an independent test of the setting on these models, so results are the maker’s claim until you try it.

What temperature should I dehydrate at?

The National Center for Home Food Preservation’s jerky directions call for an oven or dehydrator preheated to 140 degrees F, plus meat reaching 160 degrees F. TomaChef’s listing suggests 135 degrees F for fruit. Follow your recipe and the manual.

Can I make jerky in an air fryer toaster oven?

Yes, if the oven reaches the temperatures in the directions you’re following. Use a food thermometer and follow the steps described above, because a preset alone doesn’t confirm the meat reached a safe temperature.

How long does dehydrating take in a toaster oven?

Often many hours, and it varies with food, thickness and humidity. Gourmia’s larger model listing states a dehydrate timer of up to 72 hours; check the limit on the one you buy.

Should I buy a dehydrator instead?

If you’ll dry food often or in large batches, yes. If it’s occasional and you need a new oven anyway, one of these can save storage space.

Our last word on the best air fryer dehydrator toaster oven

Buy the Breville Joule if you plan to use the feature regularly, the Nuwave if a stated low temperature matters most, and the Toshiba for a plainly labeled option. Whichever you pick, read the manual for the low setting and count the racks. For more on air fryers generally, go back to our guide to the best air fryer.
