Basket, Tray or Rack? The Best Air Fryer Pan for Oven Crisping

The best air fryer pan for oven crisping: genuine GE, Frigidaire and LG air fry baskets, crisper trays for any oven, and which ovens each one fits.

Glazed chicken wings topped with sesame seeds lined up on a metal rack
Wings raised on a rack, with space around each piece for hot air to reach.

You do not need a countertop air fryer to crisp taquitos, wings or a tray of papas. Many new ranges have an air fry mode, and any oven with a convection fan can do much of the same job. What changes the result is the pan: food sitting flat on a sheet steams on its underside, while food raised on a perforated basket or mesh tray gets hot air on every side.

This guide covers eight oven air fry pans: three genuine accessories made by range makers (GE, Frigidaire and LG) for their air fry ovens, two crisper trays that work in any full-size oven, and three made for specific countertop ovens from KitchenAid, Cuisinart and Breville. For each we list the size, material, which ovens it fits and the top temperature as the maker or the listing gives them, and we write “Not stated” where nobody publishes a figure.

Quick verdict: which oven air fry pan to buy

For most full-size ovens, the best air fryer pan for oven use is the GE Appliances Air Fry Basket and Tray Set: a 15 by 12-inch basket over a drip tray, rated to 500°F and dishwasher safe, which GE says fits many range and wall oven models. The Gotham Steel XL Crisper Tray is the simple two-piece option for any oven, the Nordic Ware High-Sided Oven Crisp Tray catches the most drippings, and owners of a Frigidaire, LG, KitchenAid, Cuisinart or Breville oven should start with the matching accessory below.

Why the pan matters more than the setting

An oven’s air fry mode is not a separate machine. It is convection cooking at high heat: a fan moves hot air around the cavity so the surface of the food dries and browns faster. A countertop air fryer does the same thing in a much smaller box, which is why it crisps so quickly. A full-size oven has more air to move, so results depend on three things you control: whether the oven has a fan, how the food is spaced, and what it sits on.

GE’s own air fry oven tips are a useful guide here. GE says air fry mode needs no preheating, that food should go on a rack position near the center of the oven, and that it should sit “in a single layer on your baking sheet. Try not to overlap if possible and don’t crowd the pan.” GE also recommends dark baking or sheet pans for in-oven air frying, and says that if you use a basket or grid you should put a broil-safe pan on the rack underneath it to catch drippings. That last point is why most of the pans below come as a basket with a tray.

Without a convection fan, a basket still helps: raised food is not sitting in its own fat and steam, so the underside dries instead of going soft. It will not brown as fast as in a fan oven, so expect longer cooks and turn the food once. With a fan or an air fry mode, the basket lets the moving air reach the underside too, and many makers say you can skip the turning.

Our picks for the best air fryer pan for oven

These eight run from a full-width basket for a 30-inch range to a set of mesh baskets for one countertop oven. Each review says which ovens it fits, the numbers that matter and one honest reason to pass on it.

1. GE Appliances Air Fry Basket and Tray Set – A Basket and Drip Tray for Big Ovens

Best overallGE Appliances Air Fry Basket & Tray Set

This is GE Appliances’ own accessory, sold under part number PM48X120, and it is built the way GE’s air fry advice says an oven basket should be used: a perforated basket sitting over a solid tray that catches crumbs and drips. The listing gives both pieces as 15 by 12 inches, rates the set oven safe to 500°F and says it is dishwasher safe, with a one-year manufacturer warranty.

On fit, GE’s listing says it fits “many models of range ovens and wall ovens”, and GE’s parts store and retailers repeat that wording without publishing a model list. At 15 by 12 inches it is smaller than a full oven rack, so it should slide onto the rack of most standard 30-inch ranges and many wall ovens, GE or not. It also works in an oven with no air fry mode; you just lose the fan.

For a Mexican kitchen, 15 by 12 inches is room for a dozen taquitos or flautas laid out in one row with gaps between them, or a pound or so of wings spread out. The basket lifts the shells off the tray so the bottoms crisp rather than sitting in grease, which is the whole point.

Why we like it

  • Made by GE Appliances for its own air fry ovens (part PM48X120)
  • Basket and drip tray in one set, as GE’s air fry tips advise
  • Rated oven safe to 500°F, the highest stated rating here
  • Dishwasher safe, with a one-year manufacturer warranty

Key specifications

Model PM48X120
Pieces Basket and tray
Size 15 x 12 in (basket and tray); 3.3 in high (listing)
Material Not stated
Fits “Many models” of range and wall ovens (no list published)
Max oven temp 500°F
Dishwasher safe Yes
Warranty 1 year, manufacturer

Why we recommend it

It suits anyone with a full-size range or wall oven, especially a GE, GE Profile or Café model with an air fry mode, who wants a basket and drip tray from an appliance maker rather than a cookware brand.

Skip it if you need a published model-fit list before you buy; GE does not give one, so measure your oven rack first.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Genuine appliance-maker accessory
  • Drip tray included
  • 500°F rating

Cons

  • No model list or material stated
  • Smaller than a full oven rack, so big batches need two rounds

2. Gotham Steel XL Crisper Tray, 2-Piece – A Coated Basket for Any Oven

Best for any ovenAir Fryer Basket For Oven

Gotham Steel’s crisper tray is an “air fry in your oven” set that is not tied to one appliance brand. It is two pieces: a nonstick basket and a nonstick tray it sits in. The listing describes it as aluminum with a nonstick copper-colored coating, gives the size as 16.5 by 12.5 inches and the model as 1683, calls it dishwasher safe and lists a 10-year warranty.

Because it is a cookware set rather than an appliance part, it does not have a fit list: it goes in any oven, convection or not, with a rack at least 16.5 inches wide, and most standard ranges qualify. In a plain oven it works as a raised rack over a drip pan; in a fan oven or one with air fry mode it gets closer to countertop results.

The coating is what sets it apart from the bare steel and stainless baskets. Breaded chicken, battered fish for tacos and cheese that leaks out of a chile relleno or a quesadilla all release more easily from a coated basket. The trade-off is care: coated bakeware lasts longer washed by hand and kept away from metal utensils and scouring pads.

Why we like it

  • Basket and drip tray in one set
  • Nonstick coating for breaded and cheesy foods
  • 16.5 by 12.5 inches, roomy for a full-size oven
  • 10-year warranty and dishwasher safe, per the listing

Key specifications

Model 1683
Pieces Basket and tray
Size 16.5 x 12.5 in
Material Aluminum, nonstick copper-colored coating
Fits Any oven with room for it
Max oven temp Not stated on the listing
Dishwasher safe Yes
Warranty 10 years

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook with any full-size oven, with or without air fry mode, who wants a coated basket that lets breaded food go without sticking.

Skip it if you cook at very high heat: this listing does not give a maximum oven temperature, so check the packaging before running it above 450°F.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Fits most ovens, no model list needed
  • Easy release for breaded food
  • Long stated warranty

Cons

  • Maximum temperature not stated on this listing
  • Coating needs gentle care

3. Nordic Ware High-Sided Oven Crisp Tray with Rack – Deep Pan Catches the Drips

Best for drippy foodsNordic Ware High-Sided Half Sheet Oven Crisping Baking Tray with Rack

Nordic Ware’s Oven Crisp line is built on the same idea as the baskets above, but as a deep pan with a raised rack instead of a perforated basket. This version is a high-sided half sheet: the listing gives a cooking surface of 17.9 by 12.9 inches and 2 inches deep, an aluminum pan with a nonstick coating inside and out and a steel-reinforced rim, and a nonstick-coated steel rack. Nordic Ware says the rack lifts food while hot air circulates underneath, “so there’s no need for turning foods”, and that the set is made in America of domestic and imported materials, with a 10-year warranty on the listing.

Those 2-inch sides are why it is here. Wings, bacon, chorizo and skin-on chicken thighs throw off a lot of fat, and a shallow tray can overflow or smoke. A deep pan holds it. Without the rack it is also a deep half-sheet pan for a big tray of enchiladas or a sheet cake.

A note on overlap: our best baking pan and rack guide reviews Nordic Ware’s standard two-piece Oven Crisp tray. This is a different model, deeper and fully nonstick, which is why it earns a separate place here. Retailer listings for this model rate the nonstick pan and rack to 400°F, lower than the GE basket.

Why we like it

  • 2-inch sides hold the fat from wings and chorizo
  • Rack lets air reach the underside; Nordic Ware says no turning needed
  • Made in the USA of domestic and imported materials
  • Doubles as a deep half-sheet pan without the rack

Key specifications

Model 44731AMZM
Pieces Pan and rack
Size 17.9 x 12.9 x 2 in cooking surface
Material Nonstick aluminum pan; nonstick-coated steel rack
Fits Any oven that takes a half sheet
Max oven temp 400°F (retailer)
Dishwasher safe Not stated; retailers advise hand washing to protect the coating
Warranty 10 years

Why we recommend it

It suits anyone who air fries fatty food in the oven and wants a pan deep enough to hold what drips off, from a maker with a long record in bakeware.

Skip it if you want to cook at 425°F or above; the nonstick finish is rated to 400°F.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Deep pan for drippy foods
  • Nonstick pan and rack
  • Made in the USA

Cons

  • 400°F limit
  • A rack rather than a basket, so small pieces can fall through

4. Frigidaire ReadyCook Air Fry Tray – Full-Width Basket on Its Own Rack

Best for Frigidaire rangesFrigidaire AIRFRYTRAY ReadyCook Oven Insert

Frigidaire’s ReadyCook Air Fry Tray (model AIRFRYTRAY) is the accessory made for Frigidaire ranges with an air fry setting. It is two parts: a shallow basket and an oven rack that the basket sits on, so the whole thing slides into the oven in place of a regular rack. The listing gives the basket as 18.37 by 15.25 by 0.8 inches and the rack as 24.12 by 16 inches, and lists a 90-day limited warranty.

That is the largest cooking area in this guide, enough for a full batch of taquitos or a sheet of tostadas from stale tortillas in one layer. Frigidaire says hot air reaches all sides of the tray, “resulting in even heat distribution and quicker cook times”, and that you get golden results without flipping.

Fit is the catch. Retailers describe it as fitting “select Frigidaire ranges, wall ovens, and wall oven/microwave combinations”, and Frigidaire sells a separate wall-oven version (WOAIRFRYTRAY). Because the rack is 24 inches wide, it is made for 30-inch ovens; check your model against Frigidaire’s list before you order. Frigidaire also recommends its ReadyCook 16-inch baking sheet underneath to catch drippings, sold separately.

Why we like it

  • Genuine Frigidaire accessory for its air fry ranges
  • Largest basket here, 18.37 by 15.25 inches
  • Comes with its own oven rack, so it sits at a fixed height
  • Frigidaire says no flipping needed

Why we recommend it

It suits owners of a Frigidaire or Frigidaire Gallery range with air fry who want the maker’s own full-width basket and the biggest single batch.

Skip it if you do not have a compatible Frigidaire oven; the 24-inch rack is sized for its ovens, not for every range.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Biggest cooking area in this guide
  • Made for Frigidaire’s air fry mode
  • Own rack included

Cons

  • Drip sheet sold separately
  • Short 90-day warranty
  • Fit limited to select Frigidaire ovens

5. LG Genuine Range Air Fry Tray – The Maker’s Part for LG Air Fry Ovens

Best for LG rangesLG Genuine Range Oven Air Fry Tray – Air Fry Basket Tray for Compatible LG Ranges and Ovens

If your range is an LG with an air fry setting, LG’s own tray is the safe choice. The Amazon listing (model AHT75334402) describes it as an “official LG air fry tray designed for compatible LG ranges and ovens with air fry functionality”, with a design that lets hot air circulate around food, and it is explicit that it fits only “select LG ranges and ovens. Please verify model compatibility before purchase.”

LG does not publish a model list on the listing. LG’s parts site lets you check compatibility by entering your appliance’s serial number, and that is the step to take before ordering. LG’s earlier retail air fry trays (LRAL302S and its replacement LRAL303S) were sold for specific LG electric and gas ranges, which shows how model-specific these parts are; we did not confirm that this part number fits the same ranges.

The listing gives no size, material, temperature rating or cleaning instructions, so this is a buy-for-fit choice rather than one you can compare on paper. A genuine part is made to sit on your oven’s rack guides at the height LG’s air fry mode expects, which a one-size tray cannot promise.

Why we like it

  • Genuine LG accessory, not a look-alike
  • Made for LG’s air fry cooking mode
  • LG’s parts site checks fit by serial number

Key specifications

Why we recommend it

It suits LG range owners who want the part their oven was designed around and are willing to check the serial number first.

Skip it if you cannot confirm your LG model is compatible, or if you want published specs to compare; the listing gives almost none.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Genuine LG part
  • Made for LG’s air fry mode
  • Fit can be checked by serial number

Cons

  • Only select LG ovens
  • Size, material and temperature not stated

6. KitchenAid Countertop Oven Crisper Pan – Perforated Pan for Toaster Ovens

Best for a toaster ovenKitchenAid Countertop Oven Crisper Pan

Not every oven worth air frying in is a range. A convection toaster oven heats up faster and, being smaller, moves air around food more like a countertop air fryer. KitchenAid’s Countertop Oven Crisper Pan (model KQ941OSNSA) is a single 12.3 by 10-inch perforated pan for that kind of oven. The listing describes it as heavy-duty aluminized steel with a nonstick coating, a rim made to resist warping, perforations that “promote airflow for crisping”, extended handles and a dishwasher-safe finish.

It is not tied to KitchenAid ovens; it is sized to fit many countertop ovens, so measure the inside of yours first. KitchenAid suggests chicken tenders, homemade pizza and potato wedges. For a small household it is a good size for reheating four or five taquitos or flautas, or for crisping a few corn tortillas into tostadas without heating a big oven.

Being a single pan, it has no drip tray. Perforations let fat fall through, so put a sheet or the oven’s crumb tray underneath when you cook anything greasy.

Why we like it

  • Sized for countertop and toaster ovens
  • Perforated for airflow, per KitchenAid
  • Nonstick aluminized steel with a warp-resistant rim
  • Dishwasher safe

Key specifications

Why we recommend it

It suits a small household that does most of its crisping in a convection toaster oven and wants a perforated pan from a known name.

Skip it if you cook greasy food often and do not want to add a drip pan underneath.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Right size for a toaster oven
  • Perforated nonstick surface
  • Handles for a hot pan

7. Cuisinart Non-Stick Airfryer Basket – Replacement for TOA-60 and TOA-65

Best for Cuisinart air fryer ovensCuisinart Non-Stick Airfryer Basket

Cuisinart’s TOA-60 and TOA-65 are countertop convection ovens with air fry built in, and they come with a mesh basket. This is Cuisinart’s own nonstick version of that basket (part ANS-TOA2528). The listing says it is compatible with the TOA-60 and TOA-65, made of nonstick steel with a perforated design “for maximum air circulation around foods”, dishwasher safe and covered by a lifetime warranty.

The listing does not give dimensions. A US retailer lists the basket at 11.3 by 10 by 2.1 inches, but another gives a different size, so treat any measurement as approximate and rely on the model fit instead.

Why buy a second basket for an oven that came with one? The original wire mesh is hard to scrub once cheese or marinade bakes onto it, and a coated basket lets breaded food go more easily. A second basket also means one can soak while the other works, which helps when you are crisping more than one batch for a taco night.

Why we like it

  • Cuisinart’s own part, made for the TOA-60 and TOA-65
  • Nonstick coating is easier to clean than bare mesh
  • Perforated for airflow
  • Lifetime warranty, per the listing

Key specifications

Model ANS-TOA2528
Pieces One basket
Size Not stated on the listing; about 11.3 x 10 x 2.1 in (retailer)
Material Nonstick steel
Fits Cuisinart TOA-60 and TOA-65
Max oven temp Not stated
Dishwasher safe Yes
Warranty Lifetime

Why we recommend it

It suits owners of a Cuisinart TOA-60 or TOA-65 who want an easier-to-clean basket or a spare.

Skip it if you own a different oven; the listing names only these two models.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Exact fit for two popular Cuisinart ovens
  • Nonstick and dishwasher safe
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons

  • Fits only the TOA-60 and TOA-65
  • Size not stated by Cuisinart

8. Breville Air Fry and Dehydrate Mesh Baskets, Set of 3 – More Batches in a Smart Oven Air

Best for Breville ovensBreville Air Fry/Dehydrate Mesh Baskets

Breville’s Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, the countertop oven our best air fryer guide points to if you want air frying plus toasting and broiling, comes with one mesh basket. This set adds three. Breville describes them as stainless steel mesh baskets “designed for air frying or dehydrating multiple batches of ingredients in the Smart Oven Air”, and the Amazon listing names the BOV900 and BOV950 models (part BOV900AMB0NUC1).

Three flat baskets matter because the oven has several rack positions. For air frying you would still cook one layer at a time for the best browning, but you can load the next basket while the first cooks. For dehydrating, the main reason Breville sells them as a set, the oven takes several at once; Breville says the oven can dehydrate on up to four trays. Drying chiles, citrus slices for drinks or thin strips of beef for machaca is where a stack of baskets earns its place.

Breville and the listing do not give the basket dimensions, material grade or a temperature rating, and they fit only the named Breville ovens.

Why we like it

  • Breville’s own baskets for the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro
  • Three baskets for batch air frying or dehydrating
  • Stainless steel mesh, no coating to wear

Key specifications

Model BOV900AMB0NUC1
Pieces Three mesh baskets
Size Not stated
Material Stainless steel mesh
Fits Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900 and BOV950

Why we recommend it

It suits owners of a Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro who dehydrate or cook in batches and want baskets made for that oven.

Skip it if you only air fry one tray at a time; the basket that came with the oven already covers that.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Made for the Breville oven
  • Three baskets in one set
  • Bare stainless, nothing to peel

Cons

  • Fits only two Breville models
  • Mesh is harder to scrub than a coated basket
  • Few published specs

How to choose an oven air fryer pan

The pans above differ less in what they are than in where they fit. These are the questions that decide it.

Which oven you have

Start with the oven, not the pan. If your range has an air fry mode, the maker’s own accessory (GE, Frigidaire, LG) is built around it, and Frigidaire and LG parts in particular fit only their own ovens. If you have a countertop oven from Cuisinart or Breville, their own baskets are the exact fit. For any other oven, a free-standing set like the Gotham Steel or the Nordic Ware works anywhere it fits.

Convection fan or not

A raised basket helps in any oven, but the browning comes from moving air. In an oven without a fan, expect longer cooks and turn the food once. In a fan oven, recipes written for a countertop air fryer usually need a little more time or slightly more heat; GE says as much in its air fry tips.

Size against the oven and the batch

Measure the inside of the oven and the rack before you buy, especially for a toaster oven. Then think about the batch: spacing matters more than capacity. A dozen taquitos with gaps between them crisp better than eighteen touching. If you regularly cook more than one basket holds, two rounds beat one crowded one.

Coated or bare

Nonstick baskets (Gotham Steel, Cuisinart, KitchenAid, Nordic Ware) release breaded and cheesy food more easily but need gentle washing and have lower or unstated temperature limits. Bare mesh and steel (Breville) tolerate scrubbing better but hold on to stuck food. GE’s basket carries the highest stated rating here, 500°F.

A drip tray

GE advises a broil-safe pan under any basket or grid. Sets that include one (GE, Gotham Steel, Nordic Ware) save a step; with the others, slide a sheet pan onto the rack below. Our best baking sheets guide covers plain pans that do the job.

A bowl of tortilla chips topped with pickled red onions
Tortilla chips topped with pickled red onions.

How we picked these eight oven air fry pans

We started from what a restaurant kitchen wants from an oven air fry pan at home: food raised off the pan so the underside crisps, room for one spread-out layer, a way to catch drips, and a clear answer on which ovens it fits. We then looked at pans and baskets from identifiable makers sold on Amazon in the United States, and kept only those showing as in stock when we checked.

We gave priority to genuine accessories from oven makers, because they state which ovens they fit. We left out the many look-alike “replacement” baskets sold by sellers with no maker information, and we did not repeat products already reviewed in our baking pan and rack, roasting pan and rack or baking sheets guides; the one related product, Nordic Ware’s Oven Crisp line, appears here in a different model, as explained in its review. We looked for a Whirlpool-brand air fry basket but found only third-party copies in stock, so none is included.

Specifications come from the Amazon listings, from the makers where we could confirm a figure, and from US retailers where neither gave one, which we label “retailer”. Cooking guidance comes from GE Appliances’ published air fry tips. We searched the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall database for every brand here and for air fry and crisper products; none of these eight trays or baskets appears in it. We have not cooked with these pans for this guide, and we did not draw on outside equipment reviews.

Oven air fry pan questions, answered

Can I use an air fryer pan in a regular oven?

Yes. A basket or crisper tray works in any oven it fits. Without a convection fan it cooks more slowly and browns less evenly, so turn the food halfway. With a fan or an air fry mode, the raised basket lets air reach the underside and many makers say turning is not needed.

Do I need a special pan to use my oven’s air fry mode?

Not strictly. GE says dark baking or sheet pans work well for in-oven air frying. A perforated basket over a tray usually crisps the underside better, which is why GE, Frigidaire and LG sell their own.

Do I have to preheat for air fry mode?

GE says its air fry mode does not need preheating; you put the food in a cold oven and start. Other makers’ ovens may differ, so check your manual. GE also notes that later batches cook faster because the oven is already hot.

Will a GE air fry basket fit a Samsung or Whirlpool oven?

GE says its basket fits many range and wall ovens but does not list them. At 15 by 12 inches it is smaller than a standard 30-inch oven rack, so it usually sits on the rack of other brands too. Measure your rack before you buy.

What rack position should I use?

GE recommends a position that puts the food near the center of the oven, and a lower one for thicker food or if it browns too fast.

Our final pick for oven air frying

Buy the GE Appliances Air Fry Basket and Tray Set if you have a full-size oven and want a basket and drip tray rated to 500°F. Choose the Gotham Steel crisper for a coated set that fits almost any oven, the Nordic Ware high-sided tray for wings and chorizo, and the Frigidaire, LG, KitchenAid, Cuisinart or Breville piece when it matches your oven. If you would rather have a dedicated machine, our best air fryer guide covers countertop models.
