An enameled cast iron sink is the old-fashioned heavyweight of the kitchen: a thick iron casting coated in fired porcelain enamel, glossy, quiet under running water and heavy enough that two people carry it in. It is the sink in a lot of older American houses, and it is still made today by a small number of plumbing makers, mainly Kohler and American Standard.
This guide narrows the choice to cast iron only. Our best single bowl kitchen sink and best 33 inch kitchen sink guides cover stainless steel, granite composite and fireclay; none of the sinks below appears on either page. Every pick is a genuine cast iron sink from a named maker that Amazon showed in stock when we checked, with sizes, depths and cabinet needs taken from the maker’s spec sheets, published retailer spec listings or the Amazon listing, and “not stated” where none of them says.

Quick verdict: which cast iron sink to buy
For most kitchens, the Kohler Iron/Tones 33-inch Smart Divide Double Bowl Sink is the cast iron sink to buy: Kohler enameled cast iron, a large and a smaller bowl about 9 inches deep, and the choice of top-mount or undermount installation. For a farmhouse look, choose the American Standard Delancey 33 x 22 Apron Front Sink; to replace an old drop-in double, the American Standard Quince 33 x 22 Double Bowl; for an undermount single in a 33-inch cabinet, the American Standard Delancey 30 x 19; and for a second prep sink, the Kohler Iron/Tones 17-inch Bar Sink.
A note on what is missing. Kohler’s best-known cast iron sinks, the Whitehaven farmhouse, Riverby, Cape Dory, Dickinson and Executive Chef, were all listed on Amazon when we looked, but only as “in stock, limited quantity” or back-ordered, so we left them out rather than send you to a listing that may not ship. We also left out sinks that look similar but are not cast iron, such as fireclay, enameled steel and acrylic composite models.

Our picks for the best cast iron kitchen sinks
These seven cover the real choices in cast iron today: drop-in or undermount, apron front or not, one bowl or two, and a full-size sink or a small prep sink. All are white or the maker’s standard white enamel unless noted. Each pick says who it suits and gives one honest reason to skip it.
1. Kohler Iron/Tones 33-inch Smart Divide Double Bowl Sink – Mounts Above or Below the Counter

The Iron/Tones K-6625 is the most flexible cast iron sink we found in stock. It is a 33 by 18-3/4-inch sink with one large and one medium bowl, and the listing says it can be installed with the large bowl on either the left or the right, so it adapts to where your dishwasher sits. Kohler describes its Smart Divide design as giving more room between the faucet and the divider than a standard double bowl, so large pots are easier to fill and fit.
It can go in as a top-mount sink, sitting on a laminate or tile counter, or as an undermount under stone. The listing asks for a 33-inch base cabinet for top-mount and 36 inches for undermount. Kohler’s spec sheet gives a 9-inch bowl depth, which is deep enough to stand a stockpot upright for soaking after a batch of beans or pozole.
Kohler says its enameled cast iron resists chipping, cracking and burning, and the sink carries Kohler’s lifetime limited warranty for enameled cast iron kitchen sinks. One Kohler dealer page lists this model as discontinued, so what Amazon has may be remaining stock; buy it while it shows in stock, and check the faucet drilling on the listing before ordering, since the number of holes is not stated.
Why we like it
- Top-mount or undermount installation, per Kohler
- Large bowl can sit on the left or right
- About 9 inches deep, per Kohler’s spec sheet
- Lifetime limited warranty on Kohler enameled cast iron sinks
Key specifications
| Model | Iron/Tones K-6625-0, White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | 33 x 18-3/4 x 9-5/8 inches |
| Bowls | Large and medium (Smart Divide) |
| Bowl depth | 9 inches |
| Mounting | Top-mount or undermount |
| Faucet holes | Not stated |
| Minimum cabinet | 33 inches top-mount; 36 inches undermount |
| Warranty (maker) | Lifetime limited |
Why we recommend it
Choose it if you want a cast iron double bowl that works with the counter you have now and the stone counter you might fit later.
Skip it if you want two equal bowls; this one is deliberately split large and medium.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Dual mounting
- Reversible bowl layout
- Kohler warranty and parts support
Cons
- Listed as discontinued by a Kohler dealer
- Faucet hole count not stated in the listing
2. American Standard Delancey 33 x 22 Apron Front Sink – The Farmhouse Look in Cast Iron

If you picture a cast iron sink as a deep white farmhouse basin with its front face showing, this is the one in stock. The Delancey 77SB33220A is a single-bowl apron front sink, 33 by 22 inches outside, in American Standard’s Brilliant White enamel. It installs under the counter, with the apron sitting proud of the cabinet face.
The listing gives an 8-3/4-inch-deep bowl and a 36-inch minimum cabinet. Retailer spec listings put the bowl at about 29 inches wide, which leaves room for a roasting pan or a comal to lie flat for scrubbing. American Standard describes the enamel as thick and nonporous, easy to clean and resistant to stains, chips and cracks, and the listing mentions four oversized undermount holes to help with faucet and accessory installation.
An apron front sink needs a cabinet built or cut for it, and cast iron at this size is heavy, so plan for a cabinet maker or installer rather than a weekend swap. American Standard backs it with a limited lifetime warranty, per the listing.
Why we like it
- True apron front in enameled cast iron
- 8-3/4-inch-deep single bowl
- Enamel described by the maker as resistant to stains, chips and cracks
- Limited lifetime warranty
Key specifications
| Model | Delancey 77SB33220A.308, Brilliant White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | 33 x 22 inches (nominal) |
| Bowls | Single |
| Bowl depth | 8-3/4 inches |
| Mounting | Undermount, apron front |
| Faucet holes | None in the sink deck; 4 oversized undermount holes per the listing |
| Minimum cabinet | 36 inches |
| Warranty (maker) | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it for a farmhouse kitchen with a solid stone or wood counter and a cabinet built for an apron sink.
Skip it if you are replacing a drop-in sink without changing the cabinet; an apron front will not fit a standard sink base as is.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Classic apron front
- Wide single bowl
- Glossy, nonporous enamel
Cons
- Needs an apron-front cabinet
- Very heavy to install
- Faucet mounts on the counter, not the sink
3. American Standard Quince 33 x 22 Double Bowl Drop-In Sink – A Straight Swap for an Old Sink

Thirty-three by twenty-two inches is the common outside size of an American drop-in kitchen sink, which makes the Quince 77DB33224 the easiest cast iron sink to put into an existing counter. It is a top-mount sink with two equal bowls and four faucet holes, so it suits a faucet with a separate sprayer or soap dispenser.
Retailer spec listings give each bowl as about 13-1/2 by 16-1/8 inches and 9 inches deep, and call for a 36-inch base cabinet. The Amazon listing gives the weight as 118.6 pounds, which is the honest downside of cast iron: you need two people to lower it into the hole, and the counter has to be sound around the cutout.
Two equal bowls suit a kitchen that still hand-washes, with soapy water on one side and a rinse on the other. Retailer listings describe the enamel as cast iron with a limited lifetime warranty from American Standard. If your old sink was stainless, check that the new cutout dimensions on the template match before anyone picks up a saw.
Why we like it
- Common 33 x 22-inch drop-in size
- Two equal bowls about 9 inches deep
- Four faucet holes for a sprayer or dispenser
- Limited lifetime warranty
Key specifications
| Model | Quince 77DB33224.308, Brilliant White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | About 33 x 22-1/4 inches |
| Bowls | Two equal, about 13-1/2 x 16-1/8 inches each |
| Bowl depth | 9 inches |
| Mounting | Top-mount (drop-in) |
| Faucet holes | 4 |
| Minimum cabinet | 36 inches |
| Warranty (maker) | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it to replace a tired 33 x 22 drop-in sink with cast iron without changing the counter or cabinet.
Skip it if you want to fit sheet pans flat; neither bowl is much more than 13 inches wide.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Fits a standard drop-in opening
- Works on laminate counters
- Four holes for accessories
Cons
- 118.6 pounds, per the listing
- Narrow bowls for big pans

4. American Standard Delancey 30 x 19 Undermount Sink – Clean Lines Under Stone

The Delancey 77SB30190 is a plain rectangular single bowl made to hang beneath a granite, quartz or solid-surface counter. Retailer spec listings, including Ferguson, give the bowl as about 26 by 15-3/8 inches and 8-11/16 inches deep, with a 3-9/16-inch center drain opening and a 33-inch minimum cabinet.
That 33-inch cabinet figure is the point of this pick: it is a full cast iron kitchen sink for kitchens that do not have a 36-inch sink base. The sink has no faucet holes, which is normal for an undermount, since the faucet goes through the counter. The spec sheet lists compliance with the ASME A112.19.1 and CSA B45.2 standards for enameled cast iron plumbing fixtures.
The Amazon listing itself is thin, giving only the model, color and country of origin (China), so we took the dimensions from published retailer spec listings and say so in our notes. Ferguson lists a limited lifetime warranty. A matching stainless bottom grid and drain fitting are sold separately, per the spec sheet.
Why we like it
- Fits a 33-inch base cabinet
- Undermount, so counter crumbs wipe straight in
- Bowl about 26 inches wide
- Listed to ASME A112.19.1 and CSA B45.2
Key specifications
| Model | Delancey 77SB30190.308, Brilliant White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | 30 x 19 inches (nominal) |
| Bowls | Single, about 26 x 15-3/8 inches |
| Bowl depth | 8-11/16 inches |
| Mounting | Undermount |
| Faucet holes | None (faucet mounts in the counter) |
| Minimum cabinet | 33 inches |
| Warranty (maker) | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it for a stone counter over a 33-inch sink base where you want one simple, glossy bowl.
Skip it if your counter is laminate; an undermount sink needs a solid counter edge around the cutout.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Fits a smaller cabinet
- Seamless undermount look
- Standards-listed enamel fixture
Cons
- Thin Amazon listing; specs from retailers
- Grid and drain sold separately
5. American Standard Delancey 36 x 22 Double Bowl Apron Front Sink – Two Bowls Behind One Apron

The double-bowl Delancey 77DB36220A takes the apron front look of pick 2 and splits it into two bowls, which suits a busy kitchen that soaks pots on one side while rinsing vegetables on the other. It is 36 by 22 inches outside, installs under the counter, and the listing gives both bowls as 8-5/8 inches deep.
It is the largest sink on this page, and the listing calls for a 39-inch minimum cabinet, three inches more than the 33-inch apron sink, so measure carefully before you fall for it. Like the single Delancey, it has four oversized undermount holes for faucet and accessory installation, per the listing, and a limited lifetime warranty.
American Standard does not give the individual bowl widths in the Amazon listing. Ask the seller or check the maker’s spec sheet if you need to know whether a particular sheet pan or roasting pan will sit flat in one bowl.
Why we like it
- Two bowls with an apron front
- 8-5/8-inch-deep bowls
- Four oversized undermount holes
- Limited lifetime warranty
Key specifications
| Model | Delancey 77DB36220A.308, Brilliant White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | 36 x 22 inches (nominal) |
| Bowls | Two; individual sizes not stated in the listing |
| Bowl depth | 8-5/8 inches |
| Mounting | Undermount, apron front |
| Faucet holes | None in the sink deck; 4 oversized undermount holes per the listing |
| Minimum cabinet | 39 inches |
| Warranty (maker) | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it for a large farmhouse kitchen that wants two separate bowls behind one apron.
Skip it if your sink base is 36 inches; it needs at least 39.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Two bowls for washing and rinsing
- Farmhouse apron front
- Deep bowls
Cons
- Needs a 39-inch cabinet
- Bowl widths not given in the listing
- Heaviest install on this page
6. American Standard Quince 25 x 22 Single Bowl Drop-In Sink – Cast Iron for a Small Kitchen

Not every kitchen has room for a 33-inch sink. The Quince 77SB25224 is a 25 by 22-inch drop-in single bowl for a 27-inch base cabinet, the size you find in apartments, galley kitchens and older houses. American Standard’s spec sheet gives the bowl as 21-7/16 by 15-3/4 inches and 8-7/8 inches deep.
It has four faucet holes and sits on top of the counter, so it suits laminate as well as stone. The listing puts the weight at 83 pounds, lighter than the 33-inch double but still a two-person lift. A single bowl of this size takes a 12-inch skillet or a pot of rice easily, though not a full sheet pan.
Retailers describe the enamel as thick, nonporous and glossy, and the sink carries a limited lifetime warranty. There is also a three-hole version (77SB25223) if your faucet does not need a fourth hole; that listing showed only limited stock when we checked, so we list the four-hole model.
Why we like it
- Fits a 27-inch base cabinet
- Drop-in, so it works with laminate
- Bowl 8-7/8 inches deep, per the spec sheet
- Limited lifetime warranty
Key specifications
| Model | Quince 77SB25224.308, Brilliant White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | 25 x 22 inches (nominal) |
| Bowls | Single, 21-7/16 x 15-3/4 inches |
| Bowl depth | 8-7/8 inches |
| Mounting | Top-mount (drop-in) |
| Faucet holes | 4 |
| Minimum cabinet | 27 inches |
| Warranty (maker) | Limited lifetime |
Why we recommend it
Choose it for a small kitchen or a 27-inch sink base where you still want the feel of cast iron.
Skip it if you regularly wash sheet pans or large roasting pans; the bowl is about 21 inches wide.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Compact size
- Easy drop-in install
- Four faucet holes
Cons
- Too small for sheet pans
- Still 83 pounds, per the listing
7. Kohler Iron/Tones 17-inch Bar and Prep Sink – A Second Sink for Prep

A small second sink earns its place in a kitchen that cooks a lot: rinse chiles and herbs at the island while the main sink holds dirty pots. The Iron/Tones K-6584 is a 17 by 18-3/4-inch enameled cast iron bar and prep sink that, per Kohler, installs either on top of the counter or under it.
The listing gives under-counter dimensions of 14 by 15-3/4 inches and a 7-1/2-inch basin depth, and Kohler’s spec sheet calls for an 18-inch minimum base cabinet. Kohler’s spec sheet also notes that the clamp kit is meant for counters at least 1 inch thick; with a thinner top the installer supplies the hardware.
It carries the same Kohler enameled cast iron lifetime limited warranty as the full-size sinks. Sources differ on its faucet drilling and drain position, so check the listing photos and Kohler’s installation sheet before buying a faucet. One Kohler dealer lists the line as discontinued, so availability may not last.
Why we like it
- Fits an 18-inch base cabinet
- Top-mount or undermount, per Kohler
- 7-1/2-inch-deep basin for rinsing produce
- Kohler lifetime limited warranty
Key specifications
| Model | Iron/Tones K-6584-0, White |
|---|---|
| Outside size | 17 x 18-3/4 inches |
| Bowls | Single, 14 x 15-3/4 inches under counter |
| Bowl depth | 7-1/2 inches |
| Mounting | Top-mount or undermount |
| Faucet holes | Not stated (sources differ) |
| Minimum cabinet | 18 inches |
| Warranty (maker) | Lifetime limited |
Why we recommend it
Choose it for an island or a second prep station alongside a main sink.
Skip it if it would be your only sink; it is too small for everyday dishwashing.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Small footprint
- Dual mounting
- Kohler warranty
Cons
- Not a main kitchen sink
- Faucet drilling unclear in the listing
How to choose a cast iron kitchen sink
Cast iron is a commitment. The sink will likely outlast the counter around it, so the choices below matter more than they would with a lighter stainless sink.
Drop-in or undermount
A drop-in (top-mount) sink rests on the counter by its rim, so it works with laminate, tile and stone. An undermount sink hangs below the counter and needs a solid material such as granite, quartz or solid surface, with a finished edge around the cutout. Dual-mount sinks like the two Kohler Iron/Tones models can go either way. If you are not replacing the counter, a drop-in is the simple choice.

Weight and the cabinet below
Cast iron is far heavier than steel: the Amazon listings give 83 pounds for the 25-inch Quince and 118.6 pounds for the 33-inch double. Undermount and apron front sinks hang from or rest on the cabinet and counter, so follow the maker’s installation instructions on support, and use a professional installer if you are unsure. Check the minimum cabinet on each pick against the inside of your sink base before you buy.
Bowl layout and depth
A single wide bowl takes sheet pans and big comals; two bowls suit hand-washing; Kohler’s Smart Divide double bowls aim to sit between the two, with extra room for large pots. The full-size sinks here run 8-5/8 to 9 inches deep. Deeper means less splash and room for a stockpot, but more reaching for shorter cooks.
Faucet holes
Drop-in sinks come drilled for one to four holes, and the count is fixed in the cast iron. Match it to your faucet, or plan on a deck plate. Undermount sinks usually have no faucet holes; the faucet goes through the counter. Our best kitchen faucet guide covers faucets if you are replacing both.
Enamel care
Kohler’s own care guidance for enameled cast iron says abrasive cleaners are not recommended, and suggests its cast iron cleaner and a soft cloth or cork for the gray marks pots leave, which Kohler says look like scratches but do not go through the enamel. Kohler also warns that bacteria can grow under rubber sink mats and permanently discolor the enamel, so lift mats to dry. A light-colored enamel can pick up stains from chile, achiote or coffee, so rinse after cooking.

How we chose these seven cast iron sinks
We searched Amazon for enameled cast iron kitchen sinks from named plumbing makers and kept only listings Amazon showed as in stock, not “limited quantity” or back-ordered, when we checked. That left American Standard’s Delancey and Quince lines and two Kohler Iron/Tones sinks. Kohler’s Whitehaven, Riverby, Cape Dory, Dickinson and Executive Chef sinks and several more American Standard sizes showed only limited stock, so we left them out. We also checked Elkay and found no cast iron kitchen sink from them on Amazon, and we excluded fireclay, enameled steel and acrylic sinks because they are not cast iron. That is why this page has seven picks rather than more.
Specifications come from the Amazon listings, Kohler’s spec sheets and care pages, and published retailer spec listings (such as Ferguson) where the Amazon listing was thin; we say which in our notes. We have not installed or used these sinks ourselves. We also searched the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall listings for Kohler and American Standard and found no kitchen sink recalls.
Cast iron sink questions, answered
Are cast iron kitchen sinks worth it?
If you want a quiet, glossy sink and do not mind the weight, yes. The makers here describe the enamel as resistant to chips, cracks and stains, and both offer lifetime-type warranties. Stainless is lighter, cheaper to install and more forgiving of dropped pots.
Can a cast iron sink be undermounted?
Yes, if the sink is made for it. The Delancey sinks are undermount models, and the Kohler Iron/Tones sinks are dual-mount. Pair any undermount sink with a solid counter such as granite or quartz.
Does enameled cast iron chip?
It can if something heavy hits it hard, which is why makers describe it as chip-resistant rather than chip-proof. Use a bottom grid if you wash heavy cast iron pans.
How do I clean an enameled cast iron sink?
Kohler recommends avoiding abrasive cleaners, using a soft cloth, and its cast iron cleaner for pot marks. Rinse and wipe the sink dry after use.
Is fireclay the same as cast iron?
No. Fireclay is a fired ceramic, while cast iron is an iron casting with an enamel coating. Our 33-inch sink guide includes a fireclay farmhouse sink if you are comparing the two.
Our last word on cast iron sinks
For most kitchens, the Kohler Iron/Tones 33-inch Smart Divide is the best cast iron sink in stock now, because it mounts either way and splits large and medium bowls. Choose the American Standard Delancey 33 x 22 or 36 x 22 for an apron front, the Quince 33 x 22 for a straight drop-in swap, the Delancey 30 x 19 for an undermount in a 33-inch cabinet, the Quince 25 x 22 for a small kitchen, and the Kohler 17-inch sink for prep. For stainless, composite and fireclay options, start with our best single bowl kitchen sink guide, and keep the cabinet below in order with our under-sink organizers.
A deep sink makes short work of a big pot of beans; our guide to charro beans and refried beans explains the difference. If you would rather skip the dishes, see our menu and call to order.
