A rotisserie chicken is one of the most useful things a home kitchen can make. Pull the meat for tacos, enchiladas or tostadas, simmer the bones for caldo, and you have two or three meals from one bird. In Mexico, pollo rostizado shops turn them on long spits in front of a wall of heat. A countertop rotisserie oven does the same job on a much smaller scale, without lighting a grill.
This guide is the indoor, plug-in branch of our guide to the best rotisserie grill, which covers spits for gas and charcoal grills and open fire. Here we compare dedicated countertop rotisserie ovens and the air fryer ovens and toaster ovens that come with a rotisserie spit, on capacity, power, timer and how big a bird each maker says it takes.

Quick verdict: which countertop rotisserie oven to buy
For whole chickens and small turkeys, the best countertop rotisserie oven is the Ronco 6000 Platinum Digital Rotisserie Oven: it is built only for spit-roasting, takes a 12-pound turkey or two chickens, and has a four-hour timer with a sear setting. If you want an air fryer that can also turn a chicken, choose the Instant Vortex 10-quart air fryer oven. For the largest oven with a spit, the Elite Gourmet 47.5-quart French door oven gives you 45 liters, though its listing puts a turkey at 7 pounds.
The table compares our five standout picks. All seven ovens are reviewed after it.

Our picks for the best countertop rotisserie oven
These seven cover the three kinds of countertop rotisserie: a dedicated spit oven, air fryer ovens with a rotisserie function, and toaster and convection ovens with a rotisserie kit. One brand, Ronco, also appears in our rotisserie grill guide, with a different model; we explain the difference below.
1. Ronco 6000 Platinum Digital Rotisserie Oven – Built Only to Turn a Bird

Ronco’s Showtime rotisserie has been the best-known countertop spit oven for decades, and the 6000 Platinum (model 6000PLAT) is its digital version. Our guide to the best rotisserie grill includes the simpler Showtime model with switch controls; this one adds a digital display and a longer timer, which is why we pick it here for cooks who want a dedicated rotisserie on the counter.
The listing says it takes a 12-pound turkey or two whole chickens, in a box 17.75 inches wide, 13.75 inches high and 15.25 inches deep that Ronco says stores under kitchen cabinets. There are three settings: Roast, Sear, which pauses the rotation to brown one side, and No Heat Rotation, which keeps food turning and warm for up to 20 minutes. You set the time up to four hours, and the oven shuts off when it ends. The front door slides down underneath the oven, so you are not reaching over hot glass.
The kit is generous: spit rod, a multi-purpose basket for fish, vegetables, burgers or sausages, drip tray, carving platform, food ties, heat shield and gloves. The glass door, drip tray, spit and basket are dishwasher safe, according to the listing. It does one thing, so it will not replace a toaster oven, and the listing does not state wattage, temperature or warranty.
Why we like it
- 12-lb turkey or two chickens
- Roast, Sear and No Heat Rotation settings
- Timer up to four hours, then auto shut-off
- Door, drip tray, spit and basket dishwasher safe
Key specifications
| Model | 6000PLAT |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 12-lb turkey or 2 whole chickens |
| Power | Not stated |
| Rotisserie | Horizontal spit plus basket |
| Max temperature | Not stated (preset) |
| Timer | Up to 4 hours, auto shut-off |
| Size | 17.75 W x 13.75 H x 15.25 D in |
| Warranty | Not stated |
Why we recommend it
It suits households that roast a chicken or two every week and want the bird to baste itself while they get on with the salsa and rice.
Skip it if you want one appliance that also air fries and bakes. This oven only roasts on the spit or in the basket.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Large capacity for its footprint
- Long timer
- Full accessory kit
Cons
- Single-purpose
- Wattage and warranty not stated
- No temperature control
2. Instant Vortex 10-quart Air Fryer Oven – An Air Fryer That Spins a Chicken

If you want an air fryer first and a rotisserie second, the Instant Vortex 10-quart oven (model 140-3000-01, stainless) is a good place to start. It has seven functions: air fry, roast, broil, bake, reheat, dehydrate and rotisserie, with six one-touch programs including one for rotisserie chicken. Instant lists 1,500 watts and a 10-quart capacity that handles up to six portions.
In the box are a non-stick drip pan, two perforated cooking trays and a stainless steel rotisserie kit: basket, spit, forks and a lift tool. The basket is handy for things that will not go on a spit, like chicken wings for a game night or diced potatoes for tacos de papa. A large front window lets you watch the browning without opening the door.
It is smaller than a dedicated rotisserie, and Instant does not state a maximum bird weight, so plan on a small chicken. The listing gives overheat protection, auto-off, ETL certification and a one-year manufacturer warranty. Our guide to the best air fryer covers basket air fryers without a spit.
Why we like it
- Seven functions, rotisserie included
- Stainless rotisserie basket, spit and forks
- Front window
- Overheat protection and auto-off
Key specifications
| Model | 140-3000-01 |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 10 qt (up to 6 portions) |
| Power | 1,500 W |
| Rotisserie | Spit, forks and rotisserie basket |
| Max temperature | Not stated |
| Timer | Not stated; auto-off |
| Size | Not stated |
| Warranty | 1 year |
Why we recommend it
It suits a family that air fries most nights and wants to roast a small chicken now and then without buying a second appliance.
Skip it if you mostly want whole birds. A dedicated rotisserie oven holds more.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Air fryer and rotisserie in one
- Rotisserie basket for wings and vegetables
- Window to check browning
Cons
- Small chickens only
- Max bird weight not stated

3. Emeril Lagasse 26QT French Door Air Fryer Oven – Toaster Oven, Air Fryer and Spit

The Emeril Lagasse French Door oven is a large countertop oven that does nearly everything: toast, bake, roast, air fry and turn a rotisserie. The listing gives a 26-quart capacity and 24 cooking functions, a dual-speed fan for 360-degree air circulation, and French doors that open together with one pull. An interior light lets you check the chicken without opening the doors.
Retailer listings for this model (ELFD-360) describe room for a 6-pound chicken on the rotisserie or a 12-inch pizza, 1,700 watts and a temperature range up to 500°F; the Amazon listing does not give these figures, so treat them as a guide. That size is the practical sweet spot for a family-size roast chicken for tacos, with the drippings caught on the tray below.
Because it replaces a toaster oven, it earns its counter space every day, not just on chicken night. The toast function has a countdown that switches the oven off when it ends. The listing does not state the warranty; Kohl’s lists a 90-day limited warranty.
Why we like it
- 26-quart capacity
- 24 cooking functions including rotisserie
- French doors open with one pull
- Interior light
Key specifications
| Model | 4-00675-02X-VN (sold as ELFD-360) |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 26 qt; 6-lb chicken (retailer) |
| Power | 1,700 W (retailer) |
| Rotisserie | Rotisserie spit included |
| Max temperature | 500°F (retailer) |
| Timer | Toast countdown; others not stated |
| Size | 14.8 H x 15.8 W x 16.9 D in (retailer) |
| Warranty | 90-day limited (retailer) |
Why we recommend it
It suits a kitchen that wants to replace its toaster oven and gain a rotisserie in the same footprint.
Skip it if you want every specification in the Amazon listing itself. Several key figures come only from other retailers.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Does the work of several appliances
- Family-size chicken
- French doors
Cons
- Sparse Amazon listing
- Short warranty (retailer)
- Large on the counter
4. Elite Gourmet 47.5Qt French Door Convection Oven – The Largest Oven Here

The Elite Gourmet ETO4510B# is a very large countertop convection oven with a rotisserie spit and fork assembly. The listing gives a 45-liter capacity, fits 18 slices of toast on two racks or two 12-inch pizzas, and has interior dimensions of 16 by 12.5 inches with 12 inches of height from the upper element to the bottom rack position. It also says it roasts up to a 7-pound turkey, a modest figure for an oven this size, so go by that number rather than the oven’s size.
Separate knobs control the top and bottom elements up to 450°F, so you can run only the top element to brown the skin, and the convection fan circulates hot air. French doors let you open one side or both. A slide-out crumb and grease tray catches drippings.
The catch is the timer: the listing gives a 60-minute timer that turns the oven off when it ends. A whole bird or a large roast can take longer than an hour, so you may need to reset it. The listing does not state wattage or warranty.
Why we like it
- 45 L, the largest oven here (listing)
- Independent top and bottom elements to 450°F
- Convection fan
- Rotisserie spit and forks included
Key specifications
| Model | ETO4510B# |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 45 L (47.5 qt); up to a 7-lb turkey |
| Power | Not stated |
| Rotisserie | Spit and fork assembly |
| Max temperature | 450°F |
| Timer | 60 minutes, auto-off |
| Size | Interior 16 W x 12.5 D x 12 H in |
| Warranty | Not stated |
Why we recommend it
It suits hosts who want a second oven for holidays, a chicken on the spit while the main oven bakes the sides.
Skip it if counter space is tight, or you want to spit-roast a large turkey. Choose the Ronco for that.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Largest capacity here
- Separate top and bottom heat
- Doubles as a second oven
Cons
- 60-minute timer
- Turkey limit of 7 lb, per the listing
- Wattage and warranty not stated
- Very large
5. Chefman 10L Air Fryer Rotisserie Oven – A Compact First Rotisserie

Chefman’s 10-liter air fryer oven (model RJ38) is the simplest way to get a rotisserie spit on the counter. It air fries, bakes, dehydrates, roasts and runs the rotisserie, with 17 presets on a touch screen. The listing gives 1,700 watts, a size of 11.8 by 12.2 by 14.6 inches and a weight of 14.2 pounds, so it fits under most cabinets.
In the box are three air flow racks, a stainless steel rotisserie spit with a retrieval tool and a drip tray. Interior lights and a large window let you watch the bird. The racks are useful for drying chiles or making a tray of crisp tortilla strips for sopa de tortilla while the spit is out.
Ten liters is small for a rotisserie, so think a small chicken or a pork tenderloin, not a family-size bird; Chefman does not state a maximum weight. The listing says the parts are dishwasher safe and gives a one-year limited warranty and cETL approval.
Why we like it
- 1,700 W, 17 presets
- Rotisserie spit with retrieval tool
- Compact, 14.2 lb
- Dishwasher-safe parts
Key specifications
| Model | RJ38-10-RDO-V2 |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 10 L |
| Power | 1,700 W |
| Rotisserie | Stainless spit, retrieval tool |
| Max temperature | Not stated |
| Timer | Presets; auto shut-off |
| Size | 11.8 D x 12.2 W x 14.6 H in; 14.2 lb |
| Warranty | 1-year limited |
Why we recommend it
It suits a small household or apartment kitchen that wants to try rotisserie cooking without a big, single-purpose machine.
Skip it if you cook for more than three or four. The cavity limits the size of the bird.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Small footprint
- Many presets
- Lights and window
Cons
- Small birds only
- Max temperature not stated

6. Toshiba 10-in-1 Convection Toaster Oven – A Toaster Oven With a Rotisserie Kit

Most toaster ovens have no spit. This Toshiba (model AC25CEW-SS-V) does: the listing includes a rotisserie kit with a lifter among its accessories, alongside a baking rack, baking pan, crumb tray and rack clamp. Its ten functions are toast, bake, broil, pizza, cookies, defrost, reheat, rotisserie, keep warm and convection.
The listing gives 1,500 watts, a temperature range of 150 to 450°F and up to two hours of cooking time, with three knobs and LCD displays. The 25-liter interior fits six slices of toast, a 12-inch pizza or a 4-pound chicken, and the oven measures 19 by 14 by 10.8 inches.
A 4-pound chicken is a supermarket fryer, enough for a family taco night. It is the conventional choice here: a normal toaster oven first, with a rotisserie when you want one. Our guide to the best toaster oven covers models without a spit. The listing gives a one-year warranty.
Why we like it
- Rotisserie kit with lifter included
- 150 to 450°F, up to 2 hours
- Fits a 4-lb chicken
- 1,500 W convection
Key specifications
| Model | AC25CEW-SS-V |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 25 L; 4-lb chicken |
| Power | 1,500 W |
| Rotisserie | Rotisserie kit with lifter |
| Max temperature | 450°F |
| Timer | Up to 2 hours |
| Size | 19 x 14 x 10.8 in |
| Warranty | 1 year |
Why we recommend it
It suits someone replacing an everyday toaster oven who wants the option of a spit-roasted chicken.
Skip it if you want to roast anything bigger than a 4-pound chicken.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Full spec sheet in the listing
- Two-hour timer
- Simple knobs
Cons
- 4-lb bird limit
- No air fry function listed
7. NutriChef 24-Quart Vertical Rotisserie Oven – A Rotating Rack Behind Glass

NutriChef’s multi-function rotisserie oven (model AZPKRT97) is a tall, glass-door convection oven with a built-in rotating kebab rack, which the listing describes as designed for rotisserie-style, evenly cooked meat. It bakes, roasts, broils and runs the rotisserie. The listing gives 1,500 watts, temperatures up to 464°F, a 60-minute timer, auto shut-off and a capacity of more than 24 quarts in a box 13.4 by 12.2 by 18.9 inches.
Our rotisserie grill guide includes a different, smaller NutriChef vertical rotisserie; this one is the larger multi-function model with a full oven door and temperature control. The vertical layout suits skewered meat, like chicken or pork kebabs, more than a whole bird.
The 60-minute timer is short for long roasts, and NutriChef does not state a maximum bird weight. The listing mentions USA-based servicing but does not give a warranty term.
Why we like it
- Rotating kebab rack
- Up to 464°F
- Tempered glass door
- Small footprint for 24 quarts
Key specifications
| Model | AZPKRT97 |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 24+ qt |
| Power | 1,500 W |
| Rotisserie | Vertical rotating kebab rack |
| Max temperature | 464°F |
| Timer | 60 minutes, auto shut-off |
| Size | 13.4 x 12.2 x 18.9 in |
| Warranty | Not stated |
Why we recommend it
It suits cooks who make skewered meat more often than whole chickens and want to watch it turn.
Skip it if whole birds are the point. A horizontal spit oven like the Ronco is better suited.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Temperature control
- Tall glass door
- Narrow footprint
Cons
- 60-minute timer
- Warranty term not stated
How to choose a rotisserie oven for the counter
All of these turn food in front of a heat source. Five things decide which one fits your kitchen.
1. Dedicated rotisserie or multi-use oven
A dedicated rotisserie like the Ronco holds a bigger bird for its size and is built around the spit. An air fryer oven or toaster oven with a spit is more useful day to day but usually takes a smaller chicken. If you roast a chicken every week, buy the dedicated oven; if it is once a month, buy the multi-use one.
2. Bird size
Check the maker’s own figure: a 4-pound chicken in the Toshiba, a 12-pound turkey in the Ronco, up to a 7-pound turkey in the Elite Gourmet. Where a maker gives no figure, assume a small chicken, and measure the clearance between the spit and the heating elements.
3. Timer length
The Ronco’s timer runs up to four hours and the Toshiba’s up to two. The Elite Gourmet and NutriChef have 60-minute timers, so any roast longer than an hour means resetting partway through.

4. Cleaning
Rotisserie cooking drips. Look for a removable drip tray and parts the maker says are dishwasher safe. Ronco lists the glass door, drip tray, spit and basket as dishwasher safe; Chefman says its parts are too.
5. Counter space
Measure the space under your cabinets. The Ronco is under 14 inches tall, according to the listing; the French door ovens are much wider. Leave space around it and follow the clearances in your oven’s manual.
Cooking chicken safely in a rotisserie oven
A browned skin does not mean the chicken is done. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service’s safe minimum internal temperature chart lists 165°F for all poultry, whole or in parts. Check with a food thermometer in the thickest part of the thigh and the breast, away from the bone and the spit. Our guide to the best instant-read meat thermometer covers the tools. Truss the bird tightly so wings and legs do not touch the heating element as it turns.

How we chose these seven rotisserie ovens
We started from what a restaurant kitchen wants from a rotisserie: steady heat, a spit that holds the meat firmly, a place for the drippings to go and a timer long enough for a whole bird. We searched Amazon US for countertop ovens sold with a rotisserie spit, kept only those listed in stock when we checked, and took every specification from the maker or the Amazon listing. Where only another retailer gave a figure, we label it, and we write “Not stated” where nobody did. We have not cooked in these ovens for this guide.
We searched the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s site for each brand on this page. The only rotisserie recall we found for Ronco dates from 2002 and covered Showtime model 4000 units made in October 1999, according to the CPSC notice; it does not cover the 6000 model reviewed here. We found no recall listed for Instant Brands, Emeril Lagasse, Chefman, Elite Gourmet, Toshiba ovens or NutriChef. We left out a Gourmia rotisserie air fryer because CPSC has issued a stop-use warning about Gourmia pressure cookers, a different product, and we preferred brands without one. Recalls change, so check cpsc.gov with your model number.
We also left out the Ronco Showtime and the smaller NutriChef vertical rotisserie already reviewed in our rotisserie grill guide, the Ronco 5500 and 5000 Series because they are close variants of our top pick, and Hamilton Beach’s rotisserie air fryer oven, which showed very low stock.
Rotisserie oven questions, answered
What is the best rotisserie oven for the countertop?
For whole birds, the Ronco 6000 Platinum Digital. For an oven that also air fries or toasts, the Instant Vortex 10-quart or the Emeril French Door.
Is a countertop rotisserie oven worth it?
If you roast chicken often, yes: it bastes the bird as it turns and frees your main oven. If you roast once in a while, an air fryer oven or toaster oven with a spit is the better use of space.
How big a chicken fits in an air fryer rotisserie?
Smaller than you might think. Toshiba states a 4-pound chicken for its 25-liter oven; Instant and Chefman do not state a maximum, so plan on a small fryer and check the clearance.
Can you cook a turkey in a countertop rotisserie oven?
In the larger ones. Ronco says the 6000 takes a 12-pound turkey, while Elite Gourmet’s listing gives up to a 7-pound turkey for its 45-liter oven. Check the internal temperature reaches 165°F, as USDA advises for poultry.
What can I make with rotisserie chicken?
Shred it for tacos, enchiladas, flautas or tostadas, and simmer the carcass for broth. Our guide on how to reheat Mexican leftovers covers getting it hot again without drying it out.
Our final pick for the kitchen counter
Buy the Ronco 6000 Platinum Digital if whole chickens are the point. Choose the Instant Vortex 10-quart if you want an air fryer first, the Emeril French Door to replace a toaster oven, the Elite Gourmet as a large second oven, and the Chefman for a small kitchen. For spits on gas and charcoal grills, see our guide to the best rotisserie grill, and for carving, our guide to carving knife brands.
Want an air fryer with a spit? See our guide to the best rotisserie air fryer ovens.
Rather someone else did the roasting tonight? See the menu or call to order.
