Trigger, Pump or 2-in-1? The Best Oil Dispenser Spray

Seven refillable oil sprayers, from no-pump triggers to pump misters and spray-and-pour bottles, and what each one does well or badly.

Vegetable skewers and corn on the cob cooking on a round charcoal grill
Vegetable skewers and corn on a charcoal grill, the kind of job a light coat of oil helps.

A pouring cruet is the right tool when you want a glug of oil in a hot pan. It is the wrong tool when you want a thin, even coat on a sheet of vegetables, the basket of an air fryer or a stack of corn tortillas you are about to crisp into tostadas. That job belongs to a refillable oil sprayer: a bottle you fill with your own oil and pump or trigger into a mist or fan.

This guide is the sprayer half of our best oil dispenser guide. Pourers and cruets live there; here we cover only bottles that spray, from trigger sprayers to pump misters and two-in-one bottles that both spray and pour. Fair warning before you buy: refillable sprayers have a mixed record, and we say where each one falls short.

Quick verdict: which oil sprayer to buy

For most kitchens the best oil dispenser spray is the Evo 16 oz Stainless Steel Oil Sprayer: a trigger bottle that needs no pumping, puts out a measured 1.35 ml per pull in a fan pattern, and cannot shatter. If you want a fine, continuous mist from a glass bottle, choose the Flairosol Olivia. If you want one bottle that sprays and pours, choose the Cuisinart 2-in-1 Oil Sprayer and Pourer.

One thing to know up front. America’s Test Kitchen’s 2024 review of oil misters did not fully recommend any refillable model, because none coated a pan as evenly as an aerosol cooking spray. A refillable sprayer is still worth having if you want to use your own oil, avoid propellants and cans, and control how much goes on. Just expect a fan or a spritz, not a perfect fog.

Our picks for the best oil dispenser spray

These seven sprayers cover the three ways a refillable bottle puts out oil: a trigger that sprays as you pull, a pump cap you pressurize first, and a two-in-one top that sprays or pours. None of them is on our main oil dispenser page or our best olive oil dispenser guide, which stick to pourers and cruets.

1. Evo 16 oz Stainless Steel Oil Sprayer – No Pumping, No Shattering

Best overallEvo Oil Sprayer 18/8 Stainless Steel

The Evo works like a garden trigger bottle built for oil. You pull the trigger and it sprays, with no pumping and no waiting for pressure to build. Evo states that each pull puts out 1.35 milliliters in a fan pattern, which spreads oil over a wider strip of pan than a narrow jet does. That measured output is useful if you are trying to keep track of how much oil goes into a dish.

The bottle is 18/8 stainless steel and holds 16 ounces, enough for a week or two of roasting vegetables, oiling a grill pan and crisping tortillas for tostadas. Evo says it will not clog, melt or shatter, and that it is free of BPA, latex and DEHP. It sprays vegetable, olive, canola, peanut and sesame oils, and also balsamic vinegar, according to the listing.

Care is split. The steel bottle can go in the dishwasher; the sprayer head should be washed by hand. Because the bottle is opaque, you cannot see how much oil is left, so shake it or check by weight before you start a big tray.

It is a spritz, not a fog. Expect a visible fan of droplets that you spread with a brush or by tossing the vegetables, rather than the fine mist from a can.

Why we like it

  • Trigger action, so there is no pumping before each use.
  • Evo states a set 1.35 ml per trigger pull.
  • Stainless steel bottle will not shatter if it is knocked off the counter.
  • Large 16 oz capacity means fewer refills.

Key specifications

Model 8113
Bottle 18/8 stainless steel
Capacity 16 oz
Spray action Trigger, fan pattern, no pumping
Output per spray 1.35 ml per pull
Pours too No
Cleaning Bottle dishwasher safe; hand wash sprayer

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook who oils something most days, roasting, grilling or crisping, and wants a bottle that sprays the moment you pull the trigger and survives a fall.

Skip it if you want to see the oil level at a glance; the steel bottle hides it.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • No pumping or priming.
  • Measured output per pull.
  • Will not shatter.

Cons

  • Opaque bottle hides the oil level.
  • Sprayer head is hand wash only.
  • A fan of droplets, not a fine aerosol-style mist.

2. Flairosol Olivia Glass Oil Sprayer, 130 ml – A Spray That Keeps Going

Best continuous sprayFLAIROSOL OLIVIA. The Original Advanced Oil Sprayer for Cooking

The Flairosol Olivia uses a trigger that keeps spraying for the length of a stroke, more like a hair-spray bottle than a squirt gun. Flairosol states that one full stroke puts out about 1 gram of oil through a fan nozzle, and that the trigger is leakproof with an anti-drip design. A filter in the bottle is meant to keep the nozzle from clogging.

The bottle is glass and small, 130 milliliters, with a wide opening that makes refilling easier than the narrow necks on many sprayers. Flairosol says it handles olive and avocado oil, soy sauce and cooking wine as well as water. The small size keeps the oil fresher, since you refill more often rather than leaving a big bottle half full for weeks.

America’s Test Kitchen recommended the Olivia with reservations in its 2024 oil mister review. Testers found it easy to open, fill and close, but its stream was thick and heavy enough to drench cookware, so they had to wipe away extra oil. Use short, light strokes, held farther from the pan than you might expect.

Why we like it

  • Continuous spray for the length of each stroke.
  • Flairosol states about 1 g of oil per full stroke.
  • Wide glass opening, which ATK also found easy to fill.
  • Built-in filter to protect the nozzle.

Key specifications

Model FL1003
Bottle Glass
Capacity 130 ml
Spray action Trigger, continuous fan spray
Output per spray About 1 g per full stroke
Pours too No
Cleaning Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook who sprays salads, air fryer baskets and bread, and wants a longer, steadier spray than a single squirt.

Skip it if you want the lightest possible coat; ATK found its output heavy.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Continuous spray per stroke.
  • Easy to fill and close, per ATK.
  • Anti-drip trigger, per Flairosol.

Cons

  • ATK found the stream thick and heavy.
  • Small 130 ml bottle needs frequent refills.
  • Glass can break if dropped.

3. Cuisinart 2-in-1 Oil Sprayer and Pourer, 16 oz – Spray or Pour from One Bottle

Best spray and pourCuisinart 2‑in‑1 Oil Sprayer & Pourer – Refillable Oil Mister

Most kitchens end up with two oil bottles: one to pour and one to spray. The Cuisinart 2-in-1 tries to be both. Push the flip-tab up and it pours; press the top and a non-aerosol pump sprays oil in a fan. Cuisinart says you can choose a fine mist or a spray.

The bottle is clear glass with a handle and holds 470 milliliters, about 16 ounces, so you can see how much oil is left. The wide mouth makes refilling easier and leaves room to drop in garlic or herbs if you infuse your own oil. A siphon screen on the pickup tube is meant to stop bits of herb from clogging the sprayer.

This is a newer Cuisinart model (COM-209) and should not be confused with the older Cuisinart Grilling Oil Mister, which ATK did not recommend for its heavy, direct spray and narrow, hard-to-fill mouth. We found no reputable review of the 2-in-1 yet, so this pick rests on the listing and the design.

Why we like it

  • Sprays or pours from the same bottle.
  • Clear glass shows the oil level.
  • Wide mouth for refilling and infusing.
  • Siphon screen to keep herbs out of the pickup tube.

Key specifications

Model COM-209
Bottle Clear glass with comfort handle
Capacity 470 ml (16 oz)
Spray action Non-aerosol pump, mist or spray
Output per spray Not stated
Pours too Yes, flip-tab pour spout
Cleaning Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook who wants a single bottle by the stove, pouring for a sauté and spraying for a sheet pan, without keeping two bottles of the same oil.

Skip it if you want a sprayer with an independent review behind it; this model is too new to have one.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Two jobs in one bottle.
  • See-through glass.
  • Handle for a steady pour.

Cons

  • Spray output and cleaning instructions not stated.
  • Clear glass lets light reach the oil.
  • No independent review found.

4. Evo Mini 8 oz Oil Sprayers, Set of 2 – Two Oils, Same Trigger

Best for two oilsEvo Mini Oil Sprayer Bottle

The Evo Mini is the smaller sibling of our top pick, sold as a pair. Each 8-ounce bottle uses the same no-pump trigger and fan spray, and Evo states that every pull puts out a quarter teaspoon. Two bottles let you keep a neutral oil for high-heat cooking and olive oil for salads, or oil in one and vinegar in the other.

The bottles have a long neck and an ergonomic trigger. The nozzle rotates so you can spray downward onto a pan or sideways at a grill grate. Evo includes a twist-on funnel for refills and reusable bands so you can tell the two bottles apart. A removable filter is there to stop clogs.

According to the listing the minis are shatterproof, made with BPA-free, DEHP-free and latex-free materials, and safe on the top rack of the dishwasher. The bottle material itself is not named. Evo says the design came from a partnership with the Michael Graves Design Group.

Why we like it

  • Two sprayers, so two oils are always ready.
  • Rotating nozzle sprays down or sideways.
  • Funnel and labeling bands included.
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe, per Evo.

Key specifications

Model FG8EVO22-20
Bottle Shatterproof; material not stated
Capacity 8 oz each, set of 2
Spray action Trigger, fan pattern, rotatable nozzle
Output per spray 1/4 teaspoon per pull
Pours too No
Cleaning Dishwasher safe (top rack)

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook who uses two oils, or oil and vinegar, and wants both on hand in a size that fits beside the stove.

Skip it if you only use one oil; the single 16 oz Evo does the same job with fewer refills.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Pair of bottles.
  • No pumping, measured output.
  • Dishwasher safe.

Cons

  • Bottle material not named on the listing.
  • Smaller bottles need more frequent refills.

5. Misto Aluminum Oil Sprayer, 2-Piece Set – The Classic Pump Mister, Times Two

Most compactMISTO 2-Piece Aluminum Oil Sprayer Set Refillable

The Misto is the pump mister many people picture when they think of a refillable oil spray. It works in two steps: pump the cap to pressurize the canister, then press the nozzle. Misto says each charge sprays for up to 10 seconds, and that the cap must be threaded on fully and squarely, or air escapes and it will not build pressure.

It is small: aluminum, and each sprayer holds 3.2 fluid ounces, which makes it easy to keep in a drawer or on a crowded shelf. This set has two, so you can keep one for oil and one for vinegar or dressing. Misto lists oil, vinegar, lemon juice and lime juice as fillings. It is hand wash only, and a built-in filter lets you add herbs to the oil.

Be realistic about the spray. America’s Test Kitchen did not recommend the Misto in its 2024 review: its testers got a direct, heavy spurt that left blobs and bare spots, it struggled when held sideways, and oil collected around the button. We include it because it is compact and has a metal body, but it is not the most even sprayer here.

Why we like it

  • Compact, 3.2 fl oz each.
  • Aluminum body, no glass to break.
  • Two sprayers in the set.
  • Takes oils, vinegar and citrus juice, per Misto.

Key specifications

Model 5104222
Bottle Aluminum, 2 sprayers
Capacity 3.2 fl oz each
Spray action Pump cap to pressurize, then press
Output per spray Not stated; up to 10 seconds per charge
Pours too No
Cleaning Hand wash only

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook with little space who sprays now and then, a pan for eggs or a few slices of bread, and does not mind pumping first.

Skip it if even coverage matters most; ATK found the spray heavy and patchy.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Small and light.
  • Metal body.
  • Two oils at once.

Cons

  • Needs pumping before each use.
  • ATK found it sprayed in heavy spurts.
  • Hand wash only.

6. Prepara Simply Mist Oil Sprayer, 200 ml – Mist or Stream by Trigger Speed

Mist or streamPrepara Simply Mist Olive Oil Sprayer

Prepara’s Simply Mist has a pull handle instead of a pump cap. Pull the handle quickly and it sprays a fine mist; pull it slowly and it sends out an even stream, according to Prepara. That gives you two outputs from one trigger: a mist over a salad, a stream into a pan.

No pumping and no aerosol are needed. The bottle holds 200 milliliters, a middle size between the small pump misters and the 16-ounce bottles. Prepara lists olive, sesame and vegetable oils as suitable fillings. The listing does not say what the bottle is made of, how much comes out per pull, or how to clean it, so check the instructions in the box.

Prepara also sells a pump-style Deluxe Oil Mister; we chose the Simply Mist because the trigger needs no pressurizing.

Why we like it

  • Quick pull for mist, slow pull for a stream.
  • No pumping before use.
  • Mid-size 200 ml bottle.

Key specifications

Model 2016 (part 3063)
Bottle Not stated
Capacity 200 ml
Spray action Trigger handle, mist or stream
Output per spray Not stated
Pours too Stream setting only
Cleaning Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook who wants a mist for salads and a stream for the pan, without buying two bottles.

Skip it if you want the material and care instructions spelled out before you buy; the listing leaves them out.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Two outputs from one trigger.
  • No pumping.
  • Identifiable kitchen-tool brand.

Cons

  • Bottle material not stated.
  • Output per pull and care not stated.

7. YARRAMATE 16 oz Dark Glass Oil Sprayer and Dispenser – Tinted Glass That Sprays and Pours

Light-blocking glassYARRAMATE 16 oz Dark Glass Olive Oil Sprayer & Dispenser

Olive oil keeps best away from light, which is why the better pourers come in dark glass or steel. Most two-in-one sprayers use clear glass. This YARRAMATE bottle is dark green glass with a coating on the outside, and YARRAMATE states there is no coating on the inside, where the oil sits.

It holds 16 ounces (470 ml) and both sprays and pours. YARRAMATE says each spray puts out about 0.2 grams of oil, a light dose that suits salads and air fryer baskets. The top parts are food-grade, BPA-free polypropylene, and the glass is described as thick and lead-free. Ten waterproof labels come in the box so you can mark what is inside.

YARRAMATE is a smaller brand than the others here, and the listing does not cover cleaning. Note one contradiction in the listing: it says the glass lets you see the oil level, but the dark coating makes that harder than with clear glass.

Why we like it

  • Dark glass to keep light off the oil.
  • Sprays and pours.
  • About 0.2 g per spray, per YARRAMATE.
  • Large 16 oz capacity.

Key specifications

Model OS470-DarkGreen
Bottle Dark green coated glass; PP top
Capacity 16 oz (470 ml)
Spray action Press-top spray
Output per spray About 0.2 g
Pours too Yes
Cleaning Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits the cook who keeps good olive oil in a sprayer by a sunny window and wants the bottle to shade it.

Skip it if you would rather buy from a long-established brand; YARRAMATE publishes less about its products than Evo or Cuisinart.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Light-blocking glass.
  • Two-in-one spray and pour.
  • Labels included.

Cons

  • Cleaning not stated.
  • Oil level harder to see through tinted glass.
  • Glass can break if dropped.

What to check before buying an oil sprayer

Trigger or pump. Trigger sprayers such as the Evo and Prepara spray as soon as you pull. Pump misters such as the Misto need several pumps first and lose pressure as you spray, so the output fades. If you oil a pan every day, a trigger is less fuss.

Mist, fan or stream. No refillable bottle matches an aerosol can for a fine, even fog; ATK found the misters it reviewed sprayed heavier and less evenly. A fan pattern covers a wide strip of pan, a continuous spray gives you longer coverage per stroke, and a stream is closer to pouring. Decide which you need most.

Sliced orange and green bell peppers cooking in a gray pan
Sliced peppers cooking in a pan.

Output per spray. Several makers state it: 1.35 ml per pull for the Evo 16 oz, a quarter teaspoon for the Evo Mini, about 1 g per stroke for the Flairosol, about 0.2 g for the YARRAMATE. If you track how much oil you use, a stated figure helps.

Bottle material and size. Steel and aluminum do not break and block light. Clear glass shows the oil level but lets light in; dark glass is a middle ground. Smaller bottles keep oil fresher because you refill them more often; larger ones mean fewer refills for heavy use.

Filling and cleaning. A wide mouth makes refilling and cleaning much easier; ATK marked down a mister with a narrow mouth. A filter or screen on the pickup tube helps prevent clogs. Check whether the sprayer head is dishwasher safe; on several of these it is hand wash only.

The oil you use. Thin oils spray more easily than thick ones. Keep sprayers clean, and if you infuse oil with garlic or herbs, follow food-safety guidance and use it quickly.

How we chose these seven sprayers

We searched Amazon for refillable oil sprayers and misters from Evo, Flairosol, Misto, Cuisinart, Prepara, Norpro and others, and kept only those showing as in stock when we checked. We left out the Norpro stainless steel mister (not in stock when we checked), Cuisinart’s older Grilling Oil Mister (not recommended by ATK, and the listing says little), and the many unbranded two-in-one bottles that repeat the same design under different names. We avoided products already reviewed on our main oil dispenser and olive oil dispenser pages.

Specifications come from each product’s Amazon listing, which we cite in our research notes. We read America’s Test Kitchen’s 2024 review of oil misters and quote its findings where they apply. We have not used these sprayers for this guide, and we do not claim that Julia’s uses any of them.

Oil sprayer questions, answered

What is the best oil dispenser with spray for most kitchens?

The Evo 16 oz Stainless Steel Oil Sprayer: a no-pump trigger, a stated 1.35 ml per pull and a bottle that will not break. If you want one bottle that sprays and pours, the Cuisinart 2-in-1 is the best oil dispenser and spray combination here.

Is a refillable oil spray dispenser as good as a can of cooking spray?

Not for evenness. America’s Test Kitchen found that none of the refillable misters it reviewed coated a pan as evenly as aerosol cooking spray. A refillable sprayer lets you choose your oil and skip propellants, but expect a heavier, less uniform spray.

Why does my oil mister stop spraying or clog?

Pump misters need the cap screwed on fully to hold pressure, as Misto notes. Clogs usually come from thick oil, sediment or herbs; a filter helps, and so does washing the nozzle regularly. Trigger sprayers like the Evo do not rely on built-up pressure.

Which oil spray dispenser for kitchen use is best for an air fryer?

A light, continuous or fan spray works best on an air fryer basket. The Flairosol Olivia and the YARRAMATE bottle both suit this, but spray lightly; ATK found the Olivia’s output heavy. See our best air fryer guide for the machines themselves.

Can I put vinegar in an oil sprayer?

Evo, Misto and Flairosol all list vinegar or other liquids as fillings. Use a separate bottle for each so flavors do not mix; the Evo Mini set is sold as a pair for that reason.

Picking your oil sprayer

Start with the Evo 16 oz if you want a sprayer that works the moment you pull the trigger, or the Cuisinart 2-in-1 if you want one bottle for spraying and pouring. A sprayer is handy for oiling a cast iron skillet or a grill pan before the peppers and onions for fajitas go on; our guide to how to eat fajitas covers the rest.
