What to Look For in the Best Air Fryer Value: Nine Entry Models

Nine entry basket air fryers from Ninja, Cosori, Instant, Philips and more, compared by basket size, heat, presets and warranty.

An air fryer is a small convection oven with a basket: a fan blows hot air around the food so the outside crisps. That simple idea is why the entry models of the big brands do most of what the expensive ones do. Frozen taquitos, leftover flautas, chicken wings and a tray of roasted vegetables all come out well from a basic basket fryer.

This guide covers the entry tier of each maker’s basket air fryer range, from Ninja, Instant, Cosori, Chefman, Dash, Gourmia, bella and Philips. We do not list prices, because they change by the week. Instead we compare what each model gives you and what you give up compared with the picks in our main guide to the best air fryer, from capacity and top temperature to warranty.

Quick verdict: which air fryer is the best value

For most kitchens, the Ninja AF101 4-Quart Air Fryer is the best air fryer value: a 4-quart ceramic-coated basket that fits 2 pounds of fries, a 105°F to 400°F range that includes dehydrating, and dishwasher-safe parts. For a longer warranty and more presets, choose the Cosori Pro LE 5-Quart, which Cosori lists with a two-year warranty. For a family, the Instant Vortex XL 6-Quart gives the most room.

Five value air fryers at a glance

What the entry tier leaves out

The picks in our main air fryer guide add things such as two drawers with a synced finish, a glass cooking vessel, a flat dome-style basket, or a viewing window and odor filter. The entry tier strips back to the essentials, and most of what it drops is convenience rather than cooking.

Capacity. Entry fryers run from about 2.6 to 6.6 quarts. A 4-quart basket suits two to four people; a family that wants to cook a whole tray of wings at once should look at 5 quarts or more.

Top heat and presets. Most entry models top out at 400°F, which is enough for nearly everything. A few, like the Cosori Pro LE and Chefman 4-quart, reach 450°F for a final crisping blast. Presets are a convenience; time and temperature do the cooking.

Windows and extras. A window lets you check browning without pulling the basket. Only two picks here have one. Dial-only models skip screens entirely, which some cooks prefer.

Warranty. Most carry one year. Cosori lists two years on the Pro LE, and several listings do not state a warranty at all, which is worth checking before you buy.

Nine picks for the best air fryer value

None of these is the same listing as a pick in our main air fryer guide, which covers Ninja’s Max XL and DualZone, Instant’s Vortex Plus ClearCook, Cosori’s Pro Gen 2, Chefman’s 6-quart TurboFry and others. Here we cover the smaller and simpler models from those ranges and from other makers. All nine were listed as in stock, not low in stock, when we checked.

1. Ninja AF101 4-Quart Air Fryer – A Proven Basket With a Dehydrate Setting

Best overall valueNinja AF101 Air Fryer

The AF101 is Ninja’s long-running entry basket fryer, on Amazon since 2018 according to its listing. It has four programs: air fry, roast, reheat and dehydrate. The temperature runs from 105°F to 400°F, and the low end, with a low fan speed, is what lets it dry fruit and vegetables into chips, says Ninja.

The 4-quart basket and crisper plate are aluminum with a ceramic nonstick coating, and Ninja says they fit 2 pounds of French fries. Both go in the dishwasher; the outside of the machine wipes clean. The motor is rated at 1550 watts.

It is a sensible size for two to four people. The reheat program is handy for leftovers; for more on warming up fried dishes, see our guide to reheating Mexican leftovers. The listing gives a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

2. Cosori Pro LE 5-Quart Air Fryer – Square Basket, Two-Year Warranty

Best warrantyCosori Air Fryer Pro LE 5 Qt

The Pro LE (model CAF-L501) is the entry model in Cosori’s range, a step below the Pro Gen 2 in our main guide. Its 5-quart basket is square, which fits more flat food, such as chicken thighs or quesadilla wedges, in one layer than a round basket of similar volume. Cosori lists seven presets, including reheat and keep warm, on a touch panel.

It reaches 450°F, higher than most entry fryers, and a shake reminder tells you when to toss the food. The basket and crisper tray have a ceramic nonstick coating and are dishwasher safe. Power is 1500 watts, and Cosori’s VeSync app adds recipes.

The listing gives a two-year manufacturer warranty, the longest stated here. A note on recalls: in 2023 Cosori recalled about 2 million older air fryers sold from 2018 to 2022, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Pro LE’s model number, CAF-L501, is not on that recall list.

A touchscreen shows each cooking stage, and one-touch programs cover common foods such as wings. Instant lists overheat protection and auto shut-off, and the fryer is ETL certified, according to the listing.

Best compact 4-quartChefman Air Fryer – 4 QT Compact Airfryer for Quick & Easy Meals in Minutes

Chefman’s compact 4-quart fryer (model RJ38-4T) is narrower than most, and Chefman says it fits on the counter or in a cupboard. It is a different, smaller model from the 6-quart TurboFry in our main guide.

Its stand-out feature is Hi-Fry: you raise the heat to 450°F for the final two minutes to crisp the outside of chicken tenders or fries, according to Chefman. A touchscreen offers four presets or manual time and temperature, and an alarm reminds you to shake the basket halfway through.

The nonstick basket and rack are dishwasher safe, and the fryer shuts off when cooking ends or the basket is removed. It is rated at 1500 watts and is cETL approved, with a one-year assurance from Chefman.

5. Dash Tasti-Crisp 2.6-Quart Air Fryer – Two Dials, No Learning Curve

Best for one or twoDash Tasti-Crisp Small Air Fryer

Dash’s Tasti-Crisp is the smallest air fryer here, with a 2.6-quart basket that Dash pitches at one or two people, apartments, dorms and RVs. It has no screen and no presets: one dial sets the temperature up to 400°F and the other a 0 to 30 minute timer.

That simplicity is the value. You turn the dials and walk away, and the fryer shuts off when the timer runs out, according to Dash. It handles the jobs a small fryer is good at: a handful of fries, mozzarella sticks, shrimp, wings or reheated leftovers.

The nonstick basket and tray are dishwasher safe, though Dash recommends hand washing to keep the coating in good shape. The listing does not give the wattage or warranty, and a 30-minute timer limits longer roasts.

Why we like it

Ninja says the 5-quart basket fits 4 pounds of fries or 5 pounds of wings.

The motor is rated at 1750 watts, and the top temperature is 400°F. The basket and removable crisper plate are nonstick; the listing calls them dishwasher safe in its title.

9. Philips 2000 Series 6.6-Quart Air Fryer with Window – Watch It Crisp

Best with a windowPhilips 2000 Series Air Fryer with Window

The 2000 Series (NA231/00) is the entry point of Philips’ current basket air fryer range on Amazon. It has a cooking window, so you can see when the food is browned without pulling the basket, and a large 6.6-quart pan.

Philips lists 13 ways to cook, including air fry, bake, grill and roast, with nine touchscreen presets for frozen fries, fresh fries, chicken, meat, fish, breakfast, vegetables, cake and keep warm. Its RapidAir system uses a starfish-shaped base to move hot air under the food, according to Philips.

How to judge air fryer value

Size the basket to your household

About 2 to 3 quarts suits one or two people, 4 to 5 quarts two to four, and 6 quarts or more a family. Food crisps best in a single layer, so a basket that is too small means more batches, not just a full one.

Check the shape, not just the quarts

A square basket fits more flat food, such as chicken thighs or quesadillas, than a round one of the same volume. A window helps you avoid opening the basket and losing heat.

Look at the temperature range

A top of 400°F handles almost everything. A low end near 100°F lets you dehydrate fruit or chiles. A 450°F option adds a final crisping blast.

Know the coating

Most baskets are nonstick. Some makers say what the coating is, such as Ninja’s and Cosori’s ceramic coatings; others do not. Dash, for one, recommends hand washing to keep its coating in good shape.

Read the warranty and check for recalls

Warranties here run from one to two years, and several listings do not state one. Before buying, or if you own an older air fryer, search the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall list for your brand and model number.

How we chose these nine air fryers

We searched Amazon for the entry basket air fryers of established makers: Ninja, Instant, Cosori, Chefman, Dash, Gourmia, bella, Philips, Cuisinart and Hamilton Beach. We kept only models listed as in stock, not low in stock, and dropped listings that duplicated a pick in our main air fryer guide. Philips’ Essential XL and Cosori’s 4-quart model were listed as low in stock, so we left them out. We also passed over anonymous Amazon-only brands and the premium Typhur range, which is covered in our main guide.

We checked every brand against the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall database. The air fryer recalls we found covered older Cosori models, Insignia, PowerXL, Secura and Magic Chef. None of the models picked here is on those lists. Ninja’s 2025 recall covered Foodi pressure cookers, and bella’s 2023 recall covered pressure cookers, not air fryers. We found no recall for Chefman, Dash, Instant air fryers or Philips air fryers. Gourmia’s November 2026 recall covers its GTF7530 9-slice French door air fryer oven, not the GAF486 basket fryer picked here.

Specifications come from each Amazon listing and the maker’s description; where a figure is missing, we say “Not stated.” We have not used these fryers ourselves, and we do not list prices, so “value” here means what each tier gives you.

Air fryer value questions, answered

What is the best air fryer for the money?

For most homes, the Ninja AF101: a 4-quart ceramic-coated basket, a 105°F to 400°F range that includes dehydrating, and dishwasher-safe parts.

Why not list the best air fryer under 50, 100 or 150 dollars?

Air fryer prices change constantly, so any price band would soon be out of date. We compare each model by what its tier includes instead. Click through to see today’s price.

Which value air fryer is best for a family?

The Instant Vortex XL 6-Quart, which Instant says handles up to six portions, or the Philips 2000 Series 6.6-Quart if you want a window.

Is a cheap air fryer as good as an expensive one?

For crisping and reheating, an entry basket fryer does the core job. More expensive models add capacity, two drawers, windows or different basket shapes. Our main guide to the best air fryer covers those.

Should I buy an air fryer or a toaster oven?

A basket fryer crisps faster in a smaller space; a toaster oven toasts bread and fits a flat pan. See our guides to the best toaster oven and the best small toaster oven, or add a basket to your oven with the best air fryer pan for oven.
