Stiff, Wide or Long-Handled? The Best Griddle Scraper

Griddle scrapers from Camp Chef, Dexter-Russell, Omcan, Winco and more for outdoor and commercial flat-tops, with blade and handle details as listed.

Potatoes frying in a wide pan at a food stall.

On a flat-top, the scraper does more work than the spatula. It lifts the crust of fajita onions off the steel between batches, pushes grease into the trap, chops a smash burger’s edges free and leaves the surface ready for a thin coat of oil. A good one is stiff, flat and sharp enough to shave off the burnt bits without gouging the seasoning underneath.

This guide covers griddle scrapers for outdoor flat-tops like Blackstone and Camp Chef, and the commercial scrapers restaurant line cooks use on a steel griddle. For a full kit of spatulas, bottles and covers, see our outdoor griddle accessories guide.

Quick verdict: which griddle scraper to buy

For most backyard flat-tops, the best griddle scraper is Camp Chef’s stainless steel Griddle Scraper: a beveled edge, a soft grip, and it goes in the dishwasher. If you want a commercial tool, the Dexter-Russell 4-inch stiff scraper is NSF certified and made in the USA. For a big griddle or a restaurant flat-top, a long-handled scraper with replaceable blades, like Omcan’s, keeps your hands away from the heat.

Below, each scraper with the blade, handle and care details its listing or maker gives, then how to scrape a griddle without stripping the seasoning.

Our picks for the best griddle scraper

These eight run from small hand scrapers to long-handled commercial tools. None of them appear in our grill scraper, bench scraper or griddle accessories guides; for grates and round rods, see our grill scraper guide instead, because a flat griddle scraper will not reach between bars.

1. Camp Chef Griddle Scraper, Stainless Steel – Made by a Flat-Top Maker

Best overallCamp Chef Griddle Scraper

Camp Chef makes flat-top grills and griddles, and this is its own scraper, model FTS10. Camp Chef describes it as stainless steel with a beveled edge for lifting residue off the griddle, a soft-touch grip and a hang loop, and says it can go on the top rack of the dishwasher. Ace Hardware lists it at 9.5 inches long and 3.25 inches wide.

That size is the sweet spot for a backyard griddle: wide enough to clear a lane of steel in one pass, short enough to control with one hand while the other holds a spatula. The beveled edge is what lets a scraper get under stuck-on fond and onion crust rather than skating over it. Hold it at a low angle and let the edge do the work.

Between batches of fajita steak, push the bits and grease toward the trap; at the end of the cook, scrape the whole top while it is still warm, then wipe on a light coat of oil. Our griddle seasoning guide covers that last step.

Why we like it

  • From a griddle maker
  • Beveled stainless edge
  • Soft-touch grip with hang loop
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe, per Camp Chef

Why we recommend it

It suits anyone with a Camp Chef, Blackstone or other outdoor flat-top who wants one scraper for cooking and cleanup.

2. Dexter-Russell Basics 4-inch Stiff Scraper – NSF Certified and Made in the USA

Best commercialDexter-Russell Basics 4” Stiff Scraper – P94850

Dexter-Russell traces its history to a Southbridge, Massachusetts cutlery works founded in 1818, and it makes knives and tools for commercial kitchens. This one, model P94850 from the Basics range, has a rigid 4-inch high-carbon stainless steel blade and an 8.5-inch overall length, according to the listing.

The blade is stiff on purpose. A flexible blade bends over hard carbon; a stiff one stays flat and shears it off. The textured polypropylene handle is built to grip when wet or greasy, and the listing says it resists heat, cold and chemicals. Dexter-Russell lists it for scraping griddles, lifting dough, cleaning worktops and smoothing batter, so it doubles as a bench scraper on prep days.

The listing says it is NSF certified, a food equipment standard common in commercial kitchens, and made in the USA. At 8.5 inches it is a short tool; on a hot outdoor griddle, work quickly or wear a glove.

Why we like it

  • Stiff 4-inch high-carbon stainless blade
  • Slip-resistant textured handle
  • NSF certified
  • Made in the USA, per the listing

Key specifications

Model P94850
Blade width 4 in
Length 8.5 in overall

Handle Textured polypropylene
Replaceable blade No
Dishwasher safe Not stated
Made in USA

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who wants the kind of scraper restaurant line cooks use, built to last and approved for commercial kitchens.

Skip it if you want a longer reach; at 8.5 inches your hand is close to the steel.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Commercial build
  • Made in the USA
  • Works as a bench scraper too

Cons

  • Short handle
  • Narrower than outdoor scrapers
  • Dishwasher care not stated

3. Omcan Flat Grill Griddle Scraper, 16-inch – Reach and a Replaceable Blade

Best long handleOmcan 14237 Flat Grill Griddle Scraper 16" Long 6" Blade

Omcan supplies restaurant equipment, and its model 14237 is the long-handled kind of scraper you see on a diner griddle. The Amazon listing gives it a 6-inch blade and a 16-inch overall length. Restaurant supply listings describe it as a grill scraper with double handles for extra leverage, and Omcan sells replacement blades in packs of six (item 14264).

Length is the point. On a 36-inch outdoor griddle running hot, or a commercial flat-top, a 16-inch tool keeps your knuckles out of the steam and spitting grease. The two-handed grip lets you lean your weight into the blade to shift a whole service’s worth of carbon, which a one-hand scraper cannot do.

When the edge dulls, swap the blade rather than the tool. The Amazon listing says little beyond size, and one Canadian dealer lists the item as a pack of two, so check the count on the listing before you order.

Why we like it

  • 6-inch blade covers ground fast
  • 16-inch length keeps hands away from heat
  • Double handles for leverage
  • Replacement blades sold by Omcan

Key specifications

Model 14237
Blade width 6 in
Length 16 in
Blade material Not stated in listing
Handle Double handles
Replaceable blade Yes (Omcan 14264, 6-pack)
Dishwasher safe Not stated
Made in Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits big outdoor griddles and anyone who scrapes a flat-top hard and often.

Skip it if you want a scraper you can also cook with; it is a cleaning tool, too long for flipping or chopping.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Long reach
  • Wide blade
  • Blades can be replaced

Cons

  • Thin listing details
  • Pack count unclear
  • Bulky to store

4. OCS Parts 12-inch Flat Top Grill Scraper – Five Spare Blades in the Handle

Best replaceable bladesOCS Parts 12-Inch Flat Top Grill Scraper with 4" Scraper Blade

OCS Parts sells commercial kitchen replacement parts, and this scraper is built like the ones in restaurant supply catalogs: a heavy-duty die-cast blade holder that takes a 4-inch razor-style blade, on a 12-inch handle. The listing says it comes with five 4-inch blades, and the handle unscrews to store the spares.

A razor-style blade is the sharpest edge you can put on a griddle. It shears off carbon that a thick stainless scraper rides over, which makes it the tool for a neglected griddle or a deep clean. The listing describes a contoured base plate meant to prevent scratching and gouging, and the handle has a soft grip.

Sharp blades need care: keep the blade flat to the steel, change it when it dulls or nicks, and store the tool with the blade covered. It is a cleaning tool, not one to cook with.

Why we like it

  • Five 4-inch blades included
  • Spares stored inside the handle
  • Die-cast blade holder
  • Contoured base plate to limit gouging

Key specifications

Model 3MP0094 (part number)
Blade width 4 in
Length 12 in handle
Blade material Not stated in listing
Handle Soft grip; stores blades
Replaceable blade Yes (5 included)
Dishwasher safe Not stated
Made in Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits deep cleaning, rust removal before re-seasoning, and anyone who wants a fresh edge every time.

Skip it if you want one tool for cooking and cleaning; a razor blade is for cleaning only.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Very sharp edge
  • Spare blades included
  • Long handle

Cons

  • Not for cooking
  • Sharp blades need careful storage
  • Blade steel not stated

5. Winco Blade Scraper, 3 x 4-inch – A Small, Simple Restaurant Tool

Budget pickWinco Blade Scraper

Winco supplies restaurants with plain, durable smallwares, and its model TN526 is about as simple as a griddle scraper gets: a stainless steel blade about 3 by 4 inches with a satin finish, set in a wooden handle. Winco lists it for griddles, dough, bench work and scraping food-prep surfaces.

A small blade has its uses. It gets into the corners of a griddle and along the back splash where wider scrapers do not reach, and it is easy to keep at hand on a side shelf. The listing describes the blade as corrosion resistant and calls the scraper dishwasher safe, though a wooden handle lasts longer washed by hand.

It is the cheapest way here to get a proper metal scraper. The trade-off is width: clearing a whole griddle takes more passes than with a 6-inch blade.

Why we like it

  • Stainless, corrosion-resistant blade
  • Reaches corners and edges
  • Wooden handle
  • From a restaurant smallwares maker

Key specifications

Model TN526
Blade width About 3 x 4 in
Length Not stated
Blade material Stainless steel, satin finish
Handle Wood
Replaceable blade No
Dishwasher safe Yes, per listing
Made in Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who wants a basic metal scraper for edges and corners, or a second scraper to keep by the griddle.

Skip it if you have a large griddle to clear quickly; the blade is narrow.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Low cost
  • Gets into corners
  • Simple to clean

Cons

  • Narrow blade
  • Short handle
  • Wood prefers hand washing

6. Lamson Deep Blade Dough and Griddle Cutter, 4 x 6-inch – Forged Steel and Walnut

Best forged bladeLamson Bench Scraper

Lamson is an American cutlery maker, and this scraper (model 34222) is sold as a dough and griddle cutter. The listing gives it a 6-inch-wide blade with an unusually deep 4 inches, forged from one piece of high-carbon stainless steel that runs the full length of a solid American walnut handle and is held by two riveted pins.

That deep blade carries a lot. On a griddle, it scoops a full pile of chopped carne asada or diced potatoes and moves it in one pass, and it scrapes a wide lane of steel. The listing says it clears flour, butter, dough and fond off stone, wood, stainless and flat tops without gouging, as long as you work at a low angle and let the edge do the job rather than pressing hard.

Care is the catch. Lamson says the oil-finished walnut is hand wash only, because the dishwasher dries and cracks the wood, and there is no hanging hole by design. Rinse, towel dry, and it is done.

Why we like it

  • 6-inch wide, 4-inch deep blade
  • Forged high-carbon stainless, full tang
  • Riveted American walnut handle
  • Doubles as a bench scraper

Key specifications

Model 34222
Blade width 6 in wide, 4 in deep
Length Not stated
Blade material Forged high-carbon stainless steel
Handle Walnut, two rivets, full tang
Replaceable blade No
Dishwasher safe No, hand wash
Made in Not stated

Why we recommend it

It suits a cook who wants one well-made blade for the griddle and the prep counter, and does not mind hand washing.

Skip it if you want a dishwasher-safe tool; the walnut handle needs hand care.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Forged, full-tang build
  • Wide, deep blade
  • Works on the counter too

Cons

  • Hand wash only
  • No hanging hole
  • Short handle near heat

7. Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle Scraper – Nylon That Spares the Seasoning

Best nylonPit Boss 40934 Ultimate Griddle Scraper

Pit Boss makes pellet grills and griddles, and its Ultimate Griddle Scraper (model 40934) takes a different approach from every other pick here: the blade is nylon polymer rather than steel. The listing says it withstands temperatures up to 500°F, has a plastic handle with a soft-touch inlay, and is dishwasher safe.

A nylon scraper will not cut through heavy carbon the way steel does. What it does well is the gentle, everyday job: pushing grease and loose bits toward the trap during a cook and wiping the surface down after, with no risk of scratching fresh seasoning. That makes it a sensible second scraper for a new griddle, still building its first coats.

Mind the temperature. A griddle on high can run hotter than 500°F, so use it at medium heat or once the steel has cooled a little, and do not leave it resting on the cooking surface.

Why we like it

  • Nylon blade will not scratch seasoning
  • Rated to 500°F
  • Soft-touch handle
  • Dishwasher safe

Key specifications

Model 40934
Blade width Not stated
Length Not stated
Blade material Nylon polymer, to 500°F

Why we recommend it

It suits owners of a newly seasoned griddle who want a gentle tool for cleanup between cooks.

Skip it if you need to remove heavy carbon or rust; nylon is not made for that.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Gentle on seasoning
  • From a griddle maker
  • Easy to clean

Cons

  • 500°F limit
  • Weak on heavy carbon

8. HaSteeL Griddle Scraper, 2-Pack – Two Slant-Edge Scrapers for Cooking and Cleaning

Best two-packHaSteeL Griddle Scraper 2Pcs

HaSteeL is a brand sold mainly through Amazon. This set has two 9.5-inch stainless steel scrapers with a slanted, beveled edge, up to 1.5 millimeters thick according to the listing, with heat-proof ABS handles fixed by three rivets each and a hanging hook.

A slanted edge is a cooking tool as much as a cleaning one: it chops smash burgers and cuts quesadillas on the griddle, divides dough, and scrapes residue between batches. Having two means one can chop while the other turns, the way short-order cooks work a flat-top with a tool in each hand.

The listing calls them dishwasher safe and describes a matte finish with no burrs. They are the least expensive way to get a pair of stainless griddle tools from this list, though from a newer, Amazon-first brand.

Why we like it

  • Two scrapers in the set
  • Slanted, beveled stainless edge
  • Triple-riveted ABS handles
  • Dishwasher safe

How to choose a griddle scraper

Stiffness first. A griddle scraper should not flex. Stiff stainless steel, or a razor blade in a rigid holder, shears off carbon; a bendy blade just smears it.

Width for the job. A 3- or 4-inch blade reaches corners and edges; 6 inches clears a big griddle in fewer passes. Many cooks keep one of each.

Handle length. Short scrapers give control for cooking; long ones (12 to 16 inches) keep your hand away from heat and steam when cleaning a big, hot surface.

Fixed or replaceable blade. A fixed stainless blade lasts years and can double as a cooking tool. A replaceable razor-style blade is the sharpest option for deep cleaning, but it is a cleaning tool only.

Steel or nylon. Steel does the real work. A nylon scraper is gentler on new seasoning but has a temperature limit and will not move heavy carbon.

Care. Plastic and stainless handles go in the dishwasher; wood lasts longer washed by hand.

How to scrape a griddle without stripping the seasoning

  • Scrape warm. Residue lifts easily while the steel is warm. Let a very hot griddle cool a little first.
  • Keep the blade low. Hold the scraper at a shallow angle and push; do not dig in the corner of the blade.
  • Push toward the trap. Work in lanes toward the grease trough or cup, then wipe the surface with a folded paper towel held in tongs.
  • Use water for stuck bits. A splash of water on a warm griddle steams stubborn residue loose. Never pour cold water on a very hot griddle.
  • Oil after. Finish with a thin coat of oil and heat it until it stops smoking. Then cover the griddle; see our griddle cover guide.

How we chose these griddle scrapers

We started from what a kitchen that cooks on steel every day needs: a stiff edge, the right width, a handle that keeps hands safe, and a tool that is easy to clean. We searched Amazon US for griddle and flat-top scrapers, kept only items in stock when we checked, and favored griddle makers (Camp Chef, Pit Boss) and restaurant-supply makers (Dexter-Russell, Omcan, Winco, OCS Parts, Lamson). One pick comes from a brand sold mainly on Amazon, and we say so. We left out every scraper already in our grill scraper, bench scraper and griddle accessories guides, multi-piece tool kits, and the many unbranded scrapers sold only through Amazon storefronts. Blade sizes, materials and care come from each listing or maker, which we cite in our notes. We have not used these scrapers for this guide, and we did not use ratings or review counts. We searched the CPSC recall site and found no recalls of these scrapers.

Griddle scraper questions, answered

What is the difference between a griddle scraper and a grill scraper?

A griddle scraper has a flat, straight edge for a flat steel surface. A grill scraper is shaped to clean between grates or around round rods. See our grill scraper guide for those.

Can I use a bench scraper on a griddle?

Yes, if it is stainless steel and stiff. Several picks here, like Dexter-Russell’s and Lamson’s, are sold for both jobs. Plastic dough scrapers will melt. For dough work, see our bench scraper guide.

Will a metal scraper ruin my griddle’s seasoning?

Not if you use it properly. Seasoning is a baked-on layer; a flat blade held low removes food and loose carbon on top of it. Gouging with a blade corner or pressing hard is what damages it. Re-oil after scraping.

How do I clean a rusty griddle?

Scrape off loose rust with a sharp blade, such as a razor-style scraper, then scrub, rinse, dry with heat and re-season with several thin coats of oil. Our griddle seasoning guide covers the oils and pastes.

Should a griddle scraper be sharp?

A sharp, beveled edge works better than a blunt one, but it should not be knife-sharp unless it is a replaceable razor blade used only for cleaning.

Our final word on griddle scrapers

Buy Camp Chef’s scraper for an everyday outdoor flat-top, Dexter-Russell’s for a commercial-grade tool made in the USA, and a long-handled Omcan or OCS Parts scraper for big griddles and deep cleaning. Still putting your kit together? See our outdoor griddle accessories guide, and if you are still choosing the griddle, our Blackstone griddle guide.
