Bins, Turntables and Produce Keepers: The Best Fridge Organizers

Clear bins, lidded sets, produce keepers, a turntable, egg holder and can dispenser: nine fridge organizers, plus storage tips from extension services.

Stacked containers and produce on a refrigerator shelf, sorted so each item is easy to see.

A Mexican kitchen’s refrigerator fills up in a particular way. There are deli tubs of salsa verde and salsa roja, a tub of crema, a round of queso fresco, a bag of limes, a bunch of cilantro that wilts if you look at it wrong, a dozen or two eggs for chilaquiles, and on a Friday night a dish of carne asada sitting in its marinade. Without some order, the salsa ends up behind the milk and the cilantro turns to slime in the back corner.

This guide covers nine fridge organizers: clear bins with handles, a lidded bin set, two produce keepers, a turntable, deep stacking bins, an egg holder, a can dispenser and a starter set. Every specification comes from the maker or the Amazon listing, and we say “not stated” where they are silent. Food-safety advice comes from university extension services, which we name.

Quick verdict: which fridge organizers to buy

For most kitchens, the best fridge organizers are the iDesign Fridge Storage Bins with Handle, Set of 4: low, clear, shatter-resistant bins with a front handle that slide out like drawers, sized for salsa tubs, cheese and tortilla packs. For cut produce, the iDesign Crisp 5-Piece Set adds lids. For herbs and vegetables, the OXO Good Grips GreenSaver Produce Keeper. For the back of a deep shelf, the YouCopia FridgeView Turntable, and for everything at once, the Sorbus 6-Piece Set with bins, a can dispenser and an egg holder.

Fridge bins organize the containers; the containers themselves matter too. Our guides to food storage containers and meal prep containers cover what to put salsas, beans and rice in before they go on the shelf.

Our picks for the best fridge organizers

These nine cover the jobs a fridge actually needs done: grouping small things, keeping produce fresh, reaching the back of the shelf, holding eggs and stacking cans. Each pick explains who it suits and gives one honest reason to skip it.

1. iDesign Fridge Storage Bins with Handle, Set of 4 – Shelves That Slide Out

Best overalliDesign Fridge Storage Bin with Handle

The simplest fridge fix is a set of low, clear bins that turn a shelf into pull-out drawers. iDesign’s trays measure 11.5 by 6 by 3.5 inches, low enough to see over and wide enough for two pint tubs of salsa side by side, a block of queso fresco and a tub of crema, or a stack of tortilla packs. iDesign markets them as a tray “for meats and cheeses.”

Each bin has an integrated front handle, so you can slide the whole group out instead of reaching past it, then slide it back. Four bins let you make zones: one for salsas and sauces, one for cheeses and crema, one for tortillas, one for the odds and ends that otherwise get lost. When something spills, you wash one bin instead of the whole shelf.

iDesign says the bins are BPA-free, shatter-resistant plastic, and to clean them with mild soap and water; they are not dishwasher-safe. The listing does not say they stack, so treat them as single-layer trays.

Why we like it

  • Four bins to divide a shelf into zones
  • Front handle for sliding out, per iDesign
  • Low 3.5-inch sides keep labels visible
  • Shatter-resistant, BPA-free plastic, per iDesign

Key specifications

Size/count 11.5 x 6 x 3.5 in.; set of 4
Material BPA-free, shatter-resistant plastic

Why we recommend it

Choose it if you want an easy first step: group small things into bins you can pull out and wash.

2. iDesign Crisp 5-Piece Fridge Bin Set with Lids – Lids for Cut Produce

Best lidded setiDesign Crisp 5-Piece Recycled Plastic Refrigerator Organizer Bin Set with Lids

Half an onion, a cut lime, sliced jalapeños, diced pico waiting for tomorrow: this is what lids are for. The Crisp set from iDesign includes five pieces, a berry bin, a small divided bin, a large divided bin and two small bins, each with a matching lid. iDesign says the lids have integrated notches to prevent excess moisture and keep pre-cut produce fresh.

The bins are modular, so smaller Crisp pieces stack on larger ones and the stack can stay on the shelf while you take what you need. The divided bins are useful for keeping limes apart from chiles, or for single-serve cups of salsa or crema. Clear sides make it easy to see what is left.

iDesign says they are made from BPA-free, 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic, cleaned with soap and water, and hand wash only. The listing does not give each bin’s dimensions, so check the product photos against your shelf height.

Why we like it

  • Five lidded pieces, two of them divided
  • Notched lids for cut produce, per iDesign
  • Pieces stack on each other
  • Recycled, BPA-free plastic, per iDesign

3. OXO Good Grips GreenSaver Produce Keeper, Large – A Vent You Can Adjust

Best for produceOXO Good Grips GreenSaver Produce Keeper - Large

Produce keepers are more than bins: they lift vegetables off the bottom and control airflow. OXO’s GreenSaver holds 5 quarts, which OXO suggests for carrots, zucchini, celery and cucumbers; in a Mexican kitchen it also fits poblanos, jalapeños, calabacitas and a bag of tomatillos with the husks still on.

Inside, an elevated basket keeps produce off any moisture that collects, and OXO says the basket lifts out with handles and doubles as a colander, so you can rinse and store in the same piece. A vent slides open and closed, which OXO says lets you set humidity for different kinds of produce.

The lid holds a carbon filter that OXO says absorbs ethylene, a gas produce releases that speeds ripening. OXO says the filter is made from coconuts and lasts 90 days, and sells refills. We report that as OXO’s claim; how much longer your produce lasts depends on what you store and how fresh it was. The listing does not state whether the keeper is dishwasher-safe.

Why we like it

  • Elevated basket that also works as a colander, per OXO
  • Adjustable vent for humidity, per OXO
  • 5-quart size for long vegetables
  • Replaceable carbon filter

Key specifications

Organizer OXO GreenSaver Produce Keeper, Large (11140100)

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Basket doubles as colander
  • Adjustable vent
  • Roomy for long produce

Cons

  • Filter refills every 90 days, per OXO
  • Bulky on a small shelf
  • Care not stated in the listing

4. Rubbermaid FreshWorks Produce Saver, 8-Piece Set – Dishwasher-Safe Produce Keepers

Best produce setRubbermaid FreshWorks Produce Saver

Where OXO uses a replaceable filter, Rubbermaid’s FreshWorks uses what it calls a FreshVent filter built into the lid. Rubbermaid says it regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide to keep produce fresher longer and lasts a lifetime with no refills. As with OXO, that is the maker’s claim, not something we measured.

The set gives you four containers with lids: two 4.6-cup medium shorts, one 11.3-cup large short and one 18.1-cup large. That covers berries, a few jalapeños, a head of lettuce for tacos and the bell peppers for fajitas. An elevated base lifts produce away from moisture, the bases nest when empty, and one lid size fits several bases.

Rubbermaid says the containers are BPA-free and dishwasher-safe, and recommends putting produce in unwashed and uncut, one type per container. That is a useful habit anyway: wash herbs and chiles right before you use them.

Why we like it

  • Four sizes in one set
  • No filters to replace, per Rubbermaid
  • Dishwasher-safe, per Rubbermaid
  • Bases nest for storage

Key specifications

Organizer Rubbermaid FreshWorks set (2114813)

Material BPA-free plastic
Stackable/handles Bases nest; handles not stated

Dishwasher-safe Yes, per Rubbermaid

Why we recommend it

Choose it if you want several produce keepers you can run through the dishwasher.

Skip it if you store cut or washed produce; Rubbermaid recommends unwashed and uncut.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Four useful sizes
  • Dishwasher-safe
  • No refills

Cons

  • Best with one type of produce per container
  • Large container takes shelf height

5. YouCopia FridgeView Fridge Turntable, 11-Inch – Brings the Back Forward

Best turntableYouCopia FridgeView Fridge Turntable

Every fridge has a back corner where a jar of chipotles in adobo goes to be forgotten. A turntable fixes that. YouCopia’s FridgeView spins a full 360 degrees on stainless steel ball bearings, according to YouCopia, so jars of salsa macha, hot sauce bottles and small tubs come around to the front with one turn.

At 10.8 inches across, it fits standard fridge shelves, and YouCopia says the non-slip feet keep it from sliding and will not damage the shelves. Use it on the top shelf for ready-to-eat items, or in the door-side corner for condiments.

It is BPA-free plastic, and YouCopia says to hand wash it in lukewarm water with mild soap; it is not dishwasher-safe. For turntables in cabinets and the pantry, see our guide to the best lazy Susan.

Why we like it

  • Spins on stainless steel ball bearings, per YouCopia
  • Non-slip feet
  • Sized for standard fridge shelves
  • BPA-free plastic

Key specifications

Organizer YouCopia FridgeView (50316)
Type Turntable
Size/count 10.8 in. diameter; 1
Material BPA-free plastic, steel ball bearings
Stackable/handles No; no handles
Lid No
Dishwasher-safe No; hand wash

Why we recommend it

Choose it if jars and bottles get lost at the back of a deep shelf.

Skip it if your shelves are shallow; a round turntable wastes corners on a narrow shelf.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Nothing gets lost at the back
  • Stays put
  • Quick to set up

Cons

  • Round shape loses corner space
  • Not dishwasher-safe

6. mDesign Long Stackable Fridge Bins, 2-Pack – Uses the Full Depth

Best for deep shelvesmDesign Plastic Long Stackable Storage Organizer Container

Most fridge shelves are much deeper than they are tall. mDesign’s long bins run 15.5 inches front to back, 3.75 inches wide and 4.75 inches high, so a row of them uses the whole depth of the shelf. Pull one out by its handle and everything behind comes with it: yogurt, crema, cans of chipotle, bottles of Valentina or Cholula.

mDesign says raised feet let the bins stack for vertical storage, and the side handles make it easy to carry one to the counter. At 3.75 inches wide, several fit side by side on a standard shelf, and each can hold one kind of thing.

mDesign describes them as durable plastic and says to clean with mild soap and water; they are not dishwasher-safe. The listing does not say whether the plastic is BPA-free.

Why we like it

  • 15.5-inch length uses the full shelf depth
  • Raised feet let them stack, per mDesign
  • Side handles
  • Narrow enough to line up side by side

Key specifications

Organizer mDesign Ligne long bin (4777MDB)
Type Open-top bin
Size/count 15.5 x 3.75 x 4.75 in.; 2

Choose it if you have deep shelves and things keep hiding behind other things.

Skip it if your fridge is shallow; check the depth before you buy.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Full-depth pull-out
  • Stackable
  • Narrow footprint

Cons

  • Hand wash only
  • BPA status not stated

7. iDesign Egg Holder with Lid, 21 Eggs – Eggs You Can Stack On

Best egg holderiDesign Clear Plastic Egg Holder for Fridge with Lid

Huevos rancheros, chilaquiles and migas go through eggs fast, and a cardboard carton is not much of an organizer. iDesign’s egg holder takes 21 eggs in individual slots under a clear lid, which iDesign says lets you see at a glance when you are running low and lets you stack other things on top.

It measures 14.5 by 6.25 by 3 inches, with a built-in handle to slide it in and out. iDesign describes it as BPA-free, shatter-resistant plastic; clean it with mild soap and water, and do not put it in the dishwasher.

Where to put it: Illinois Extension’s shelf chart places raw eggs on the lower shelves alongside ground meat or poultry, and NC State Extension advises keeping milk out of the door because temperatures there fluctuate more. A holder on a lower shelf follows that advice better than the egg rack in the door.

Why we like it

  • Holds 21 eggs, per iDesign
  • Clear lid; you can stack on top
  • Handle for sliding out
  • Shatter-resistant, BPA-free plastic

Key specifications

Organizer iDesign egg holder (72930)
Type Egg holder with lid
Size/count 14.5 x 6.25 x 3 in.; 21 eggs
Material BPA-free, shatter-resistant plastic
Stackable/handles Lid allows stacking; built-in handle
Lid Yes, clear
Dishwasher-safe No; mild soap and water

Why we recommend it

Choose it if you go through eggs quickly and want to see how many are left.

Skip it if you would rather keep the carton for its date stamp; write the date on the lid instead.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Large capacity
  • Stackable lid
  • Easy inventory

Cons

  • You lose the carton’s date
  • Hand wash only

8. Puricon Soda Can Organizer, 2-Pack – Twelve Cans Each, With Lids

Best can dispenserPuricon 2 Pack Soda Can Organizer Dispenser for Refrigerator Fridge

Cans of Topo Chico, Jarritos and beer for a carne asada take a lot of shelf space when they are loose. Puricon’s dispensers hold up to 12 standard 12-ounce cans each, and a cutout at the front lets you pull out a can without moving the rest.

Each one measures 17.1 by 5.43 by 5.83 inches. They come with lids, and Puricon says that with the lids on they stack, which turns two loose rows of cans into one tidy tower. Glass bottles are a different shape; this is sized for cans.

Puricon says they are shatter-resistant PET plastic and suggests cleaning with a damp cloth. The listing does not say whether they are dishwasher-safe or BPA-free.

Why we like it

  • 12 cans per bin, per Puricon
  • Lids let two bins stack
  • Front cutout for easy grabbing
  • Clear, shatter-resistant PET

Key specifications

Organizer Puricon can organizer (PR-08363542)

Material Shatter-resistant PET
Stackable/handles Stackable with lids; front cutout

Dishwasher-safe Not stated; damp cloth

Why we recommend it

Choose it if loose cans take over a shelf, especially before a party.

Skip it if your shelves are shallow; at 17.1 inches long it needs a deep shelf.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Stacks with lids
  • Good capacity
  • Clear

Cons

  • Long; needs a deep shelf
  • Cans only, not bottles

9. Sorbus Fridge Bins, 6-Piece Set – Bins, Cans and Eggs in One Box

Best starter setSorbus Fridge Organizers and Storage Bins for Pantry & Fridge (6 Piece Set)

If you want to organize the whole fridge in one go, Sorbus’s set covers the basics: two wide bins, two narrow bins, a can organizer that holds 12 cans and an egg holder with 14 slots. That is enough to give salsas, cheeses, drinks and eggs each their own place.

Sorbus says the bins are stackable and lightweight, with clear sides so you can see what is inside. The listing does not give each bin’s dimensions, so check the product photos against your shelf height and depth before you buy.

Sorbus describes the set as BPA-free, shatter-resistant plastic that is easy to clean; the listing does not say whether it is dishwasher-safe, so hand washing is the safe assumption.

Why we like it

  • Six pieces covering bins, cans and eggs
  • Stackable, per Sorbus
  • Clear, shatter-resistant plastic
  • Can holder takes 12 cans

Key specifications

Organizer Sorbus fridge bin set (FR-6SET)

  • Stackable
  • Clear plastic

Cons

  • Sizes not listed
  • Egg holder smaller than iDesign’s

How to choose fridge organizers that actually help

Start with where food belongs

Organizers work best when they follow food-safety zones. University of Illinois Extension recommends storing raw meat, poultry and seafood on the bottom shelf so juices cannot drip onto other foods, and Ohio State Extension adds that raw meat should be wrapped and set in a container or on a tray. That is where the carne asada goes while it marinates: in a sealed container, on the bottom shelf. Ready-to-eat foods, like salsa, crema and queso fresco, go higher up.

Leave room for air

Illinois Extension says not to overcrowd the refrigerator and to leave space for air to circulate around foods. Bins help here only if you resist filling every gap. Illinois Extension lists 40°F or below as the safe temperature for refrigerated foods, and Ohio State Extension says the only way to know your fridge’s air temperature is an appliance thermometer.

An open refrigerator with eggs in a tray, packaged foods and fruit in a bin
Eggs in a tray and fruit in a bin on separate refrigerator shelves.

Use the door for the sturdiest items

Illinois Extension notes the door is often warmer than the rest of the refrigerator and suits condiments such as mustard, pickles and ketchup, which have high acidity or sugar. NC State Extension advises keeping milk out of the door.

Measure first

Measure shelf depth, width and the height between shelves before buying. Long bins like mDesign’s need a deep shelf; a round turntable needs a square space; lidded bins need room above them. Low bins are easier to see over.

Clear, washable and labeled

Clear plastic lets you see what is left. Illinois Extension recommends cleaning the refrigerator often, so pick bins you will actually wash; most here are hand wash only, and Rubbermaid’s FreshWorks is the dishwasher-safe exception. Label and date leftovers. Illinois Extension lists three to four days in the refrigerator for cooked meat dishes and leftovers, and our guide to reheating Mexican leftovers covers what to do with them.

How we chose these nine fridge organizers

We looked for organizers from established makers (iDesign, OXO, Rubbermaid, YouCopia, mDesign, Puricon and Sorbus) that cover each job in a fridge: bins, lidded bins, produce keepers, a turntable, an egg holder and a can dispenser. Every specification comes from the Amazon listing or the maker; freshness claims for the produce keepers are attributed to OXO and Rubbermaid. Storage advice comes from University of Illinois Extension, Ohio State University Extension and NC State Extension pages we read. Every pick was in stock on Amazon when we checked.

We have not used these organizers ourselves. We did not read Wirecutter’s or America’s Test Kitchen’s fridge organizer coverage for this article, so we do not quote it. We left out drawer-style bins and roll-out caddies sold under unfamiliar brand names with little maker information.

Fridge organizer questions, answered

What is the best fridge organizer to start with?

A set of clear bins with front handles, like the iDesign set of four. They group small items, slide out like drawers and take a spill instead of the shelf.

What is the top fridge organizer for produce?

The OXO GreenSaver for long vegetables and chiles, or the Rubbermaid FreshWorks set if you want several sizes that go in the dishwasher. Both makers make freshness claims for their vents and filters, which we report as theirs.

Are fridge organizers worth it?

Yes, if they make food easier to see and reach. They are not worth it if they fill every inch: extension services advise leaving room for air to circulate.

Where should raw meat go in an organized fridge?

On the bottom shelf, wrapped or in a sealed container or tray, so juices cannot drip onto other food, according to Illinois and Ohio State extension guidance.

Can I put fridge bins in the dishwasher?

Check each listing. Most bins here are hand wash only; Rubbermaid says its FreshWorks containers are dishwasher-safe.

Our final pick for a tidier fridge

Start with the iDesign set of four bins. Add the iDesign Crisp set for cut produce, the OXO GreenSaver for herbs and chiles, the YouCopia FridgeView for jars at the back, or buy the Sorbus set to cover bins, cans and eggs in one box.
